Yes! I'd like to have someone find the "Thom McAnn Shoes" ad w/ the similar
Heinz Edelmann look, 'psychedelic' boy & girl, flying winged shoes, etc., & the part where a Beatle-sound-alike band sings at the end, " ...all together now, let's refrain, we're NOWHERE!"
Officer Joe Bolton showed this around 1969 or so when "The Three Stooges" was still being shown weekday afternoons on WPIX-TV Channel 11, NYC Metro Area.
Yeah, I'd l♥ve to see this again, if anyone out there remembers it...?
Groovy commercial, man. I mean it is totally cool and hip dude. I don't want the pig to take me down. What gnarly colors on the screen. Now if only 7-up was as good as this commercial.
Same artists as the Yellow Sub movie, but the art is all completely original to this commercial. The movie animation was done by both Heinz Edelmann (just died this year, 2009) and famous designer, Milton Glaser. The art style was picked up by many artists and was very easy to mimic. A lot of folks think that Peter Max had something to do with both, but he didn't. He did, however, make his name with this style of work. Debatable who came up with the look first, both hit near the same time.
I wish I lived in the 60's with my favorite band of all time The Beatles.
