Considering how long GT5 took to be made, it would have to be one of the greatest racing games ever. I am pleased with GT5 overall, although forza seem good.
to me this is like this. a great simulator racing game comes out, a couple of years later some bitches want to make money, so they make a crappy cheap copy of the original and then u see people comparing the copy with the real one.
since i was 10 years old i started to play gran turismo 1 and i continued with the next game's generations. well right now i see the graphic difference between these two games. GT5 i think is better and i trust it. is an epic game and every time polyphony digital creates a new GT is awesome and better than the previous.!
i know i'm being a tad anal here but..... why not sync the side-by-side vids ?? as they were on the same circuit and the same ride. aside from that you did in fact with this effort show that there really no comparison
@jeffysr ure right but unfortunatelly the track in forza 2 and the speed of the car is inconsistent with granturismo 5, it would de-sync anyways... once ive noticed that i just tought there wouldnt be a point anymore.
@TheWarKeeper ehh that cant be it has to mantain an 16:9 aspect ratio so it width and height have to be proportional that means if you test 1 pixel from the height you laso have to take one from the width and to add the same and viceversa.
@Maxaker67 if he strictly specifies 1920*1080 i will be very happy indeed, if he just specifies 1080p then it might not change from waht i said before.
@Maxaker67 if thats true then they must have downgraded some graphics or found a better technique for the cell and gpu to render the shaders, if it wont downgrade visually i i will be so happy :D since i got a 1080p monitor too.
it would be nice to have damage like you see on DIRT2 or the TOCA games, proper massive damage that would happen with a major crash rather than just bumps and scratches.
In fm2 the reflections are waaay to glowy, like everything has its own spotlight. Also the anti aliasing is slightly worse. Funny because the Xbox should be able to be better at anti aliasing.
@jayjjj3 i think the xbox360 is better at antialiasing depending on your tastes, for instances i know that the gpu has 10mb ram which act more like cache at such insane speeds it will be able to give you up to x4 AA with no performance impact depending on the complexity of the engine and the game itself.
i have both games (i have Forza 3 limited) and i have to say, the graphics are better in GT 5 (p) BUT, and thats a big BUT :P the way the camare follows the car in GT is really bad, it should be more like in Forza (im not a fanboy to any console they are great games/consoles in diffrent ways)

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is a clear winner over Forza Motorsport 2. The graphics, colour and attention to detail on Forza Motorsport 2 are bleek, dull and quite Indistinct in comparison to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, sharp vibrant colours, and over all exceptional finish to detail....which in turn delivers the most realistic graphics on any racing game, iv'e ever seen.
for me, GT5 is better, there was just one thing the I liked from FM2 and was the detail on the trees and the grass color, the car looks fake.. GT5 winner
not really. GT5 has way more Details, the more realistic look. FM2 is too artificial, less Details, just look at the Shadows and the shine. Gran Turismo beats FM2 clearly
Forza looks more... artificial(for want of a better word), whereas GT5P looks more organic and natural.
Also, I guess that they're both set in the mid afternoon. If they are, then one of them has the sun's position totally wrong(maybe they both do).
Some may not see that as vital, but to fully simulate the ambience of a real-life track, that is one of the major things to get right(besides the obvious).
This video was uploaded in June 2009. GT5 is not out yet, and its now Jan 2010. So what ever you make of this video, that is not GT5. GT5-Prolouge maybe, but this is not GT5. Plus you would compair it to Forza 3 for a fair comparsion.
Gran Turismo 5 looks a lot better. When turning, the shadows move across the car, whereas Forza, areas of the car just get darker/lighter. I would say Forza is comparible to GT4
GT Looks better for most, stuff especially the car and shadow details. Forza has some nice track details and grass/dirt rendering.
However thats NOT GT5, thats the Prologue edition that came out over a year before Forza was released, there will be NO comparison when GT5 actually gets released ;)

im afraid that will not happen, cars dont just flip over because of a tinny rock in the middle of the track, also tracks are cleaned in real life before a race to avoid such issues, games like nfs and forza are bollocks when it comes to car flip a ford gt slips over a rock and then flips in the middle of the air at 100rpm, when in real life you couldnt get that car to flip over not even trying from a route going down.
Alright, this is my opinion on this. Although from a technicaly point of view, GT5 is definitly better looking. But for being nice to just look at, I would go with Forza 3.
Sorry to say this but GT5 looks more realistic than Forza 3. I have both systems. I played Forza 3 already and I'm not impressed with the graphics, it's shiny and looks cartoony. In all of the GT series that I have played, at the beginning of the race where it navigates around the car, I can move my wheels. Now that is realism. In Forza 3, I can't do that. I want to know if my car really works or not.

i paused it in the middle of the video,i saw that the exhaust in forza are poped out,in forza the horse is higher,the lights look so so bad,the street is light,the color is poor,the sand in forza looks more realistic but at the same time it looks old and boring,though i have played forza but not gt5 yet,i drove a m3 and my friend drove a chrysler my m3 was porly detailed,while my friends chrysler looked more poor than the one i drove in midnight club 3 for ps2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wtf forza sucks!

I find GT5 & Prologues Graphics to be more realistic then that of the Forza series. This video is a very good example of that because if you look at them side by side the environment of Forza and car it's self look great but looks almost kind of cheesy compared to GT, Forza seems to be over abundant in reflections and seems to lack certain textures and dynamics for the car and track, but don't get me wrong though they both look great.
oh well and unbiased video comparison only to be ruined by idiotic fanboys arguing about stuff they have no idea about, it all well and good going on about how powerfull the ps3 is and how underpowered the 360 is but the 360 does pretty much what the ps3 does in terms of graphics ect (and dont bring that DVD roms retrict the size of ps3 games bull shit just look at the psp version of gran tuismo 800 cars shit loads of tracks all on a 2gb umd with graphic close to ps2 on a hand held)
The Xbox360 is far from close to Ps3 hardware power, not only xbox360 runs on a basic tri core cpu but the card is about the same performance as ps3... which is a very very big loss compared to PS3 Processor which has 8 Cores with 1 for technical purposes and the rest natively built for graphics tasks, while the cpu of the xbox360 is not, not to mention that xbox360 does not support native 1920*1080 resolution with hardware scaling, it just uses the microsoft software scaling to reach it.
and when you do it with software scaling you are going to use a similar system as Zoom obviously making the display more blurred and foggy.
So yeah its pretty much underpowered compared to a ps3, infact you can run Raytrace at 20fps a granturismo car such as ferrari f430 at 640p at 20fps, WITH GPU TURNED OFF, everything rendered by 6 cores of the ps3 cell processor.
Xbox360 tri core cpu is no match for intel core i7 when it comes to graphics tasks, what chance do u think...
Remember: Xbox360 uses its gfx card to render graphics and uses its cpu for tasks and scripts such as "AI" & physics with only 3 cores.
while
Ps3 Uses its gpu to render graphics+ its cpu main core to render scripts such as "AI" + its other 6 cores to render gfx and physics.
You could attempt to render gfx and physics in your xbox360 cpu but then you would have not enough power to keep the necessary processing tasks running, and the performance would actually decrease.
oh and i forgot to mention that xbox360 is actually bottlenecked by the dvd 9 low space, you get 2 dvds in forza 3 because 400 cars couldnt fit on just 1...
and add to that compressed sounds and textures.
GT5 runs on 1 blu ray disc with uncompressed sounds which is indeed a luxury and a nice addition and more than 900 cars, so yeah the drive limitation also affects the game pretty much.

gt5 runs so fluid and the shadows in the game looks superb! and the graphics are better but i dont think graphics does everything. the surroundings must look godd and fell alive and gt5 delivers that with awesome shadows and fluid gameplay. i havent playd it im just telling what felling i am getting out of the video. forza fells just old in a way when you put it up against gt5
Now i like this comparison, only thing bad i have to say is that sometimes on both games you can see the scenery lag a little but overall they are very high quality. I also think this is unfair due to forza having been out for quite some time and GT being newer and fresher. I do believe that the full GT will look much better when it comes out in 2010 but until then we will not know. I don't believe that the PS3's graphics card (which isn't much better then the 360) has anything to do with this
Prologue looks better than Forza 3, although Forza 3 looks much better than Forza 2, Forza 2 looks shit, they overdo reflections and bloom, and in FM3's case saturation.
Its quite pointless and foolish to compare an upgrade able pc with a console even tough the ps3 cell is far more powerfull in gfx calcs than any other cpu on the market for personal usage, i could go by your logic and say a Server wins a PC... does that make the server games better? no because they dont exist, as for pc games i have to say they are terrible in graphics compared to ps3 excluding crysis, they just look like multiplatform games because thats what pc gets these days tbh.

Ps3 Cell not only does the basic cpu tasks but it is fairly potent at graphics where xbox360 fails, furthermore it supports true 1920*1080res with hardware scaling while xbox360 doesnt, also xbox360 does not have a bluray, also xbox360 tflops calculation is twice as low as a ps3.
OMFG. Yes, the PS3 has way more processing power vs 360 but i think PD's usual take on the detail of the cars and accurate digital representations of locations really shines here. Just look at the details in the side by side...the tailights, exhausts and the curbs just to name a few examples. Even the way the car moves, it's as if the Forza Ferrari is rotating like it was impaled on a pole while the GT Ferrari is much more poised. Also, what's with that excessive glare on a day that looks foggy?
im sorry to say i dont have a car list, but if you played gt5 prologue you can get some hints, ferrari cars are in, nissan, mitsubishi, opel, blitz, honda, lexus, toyota, and more, super cars well in prologue theres a ferrari formula 1 car, Citroen By GT car (you can look that one up the internet).
The information i got was from various sites that interviewed the devs of GT5 and told them that thats how many cars and tracks we would be expecting.
GT5 will have about 1,000 cars, around 75 tracks, upgraded driving physics, damage, and more.
I know that lamborghini is finally in gt5, as well as the new ferrari 458 italia, and the mercedes SLS, bughatti veyron, and tons of other bran new super sports cars and race cars. There will also be rally cars from citroen, suburu, and a bunch of others.
would be interested if bughatti was trully included in it altought i never found it a good car to drive and i doubt that lambos are going to get used in gt5 its just asking to much xD
These are the same tracks, so why didn't you cue up the videos so that both cars were at the same part of the track at the same time in the video. Would've made for a nicer comparison.

i think gt5 will be a better sim than forza. as far as i can tell, physics, specs, and modeling in gt5 will be more accurate than the ones in forza 3, but forza 3 will have more custom. options. forza is for 360, which more people own... so at the end of the day, i suppose forza will outsell gt5. either way, both games look beautiful. i think forza saturates their colors too much (looks more appealing to the eye) and make reflections too prominent. gt5 looks more natural, less like eye candy.
Gt5 have better grafics and better controls, but Prologue is pretty boring because its a prologue, but when GT5 full comes out, thats gonna be the GAME!

Sorry to say this but GT5 looks more realistic than Forza 3. I have both systems. I played Forza 3 already and I'm not impressed with the graphics, it's shiny and looks cartoony. In all of the GT series that I have played, at the beginning of the race where it navigates around the car, I can move my wheels. Now that is realism. In Forza 3, I can't do that. I want to know if my car really works or not.

If the videos are true, even, unbiased, the differences are clear & the advantage (graphically) goes to GT5.
Looking in the rear window on the GT5 side is some fantastic. The reflections, the interior details. Then you look over the the right.....
(just one of the things that stuck out for me)

all i need to say is i own a ps3 and 360 as if that was enough i also have a pretty good spec laptop so uncharted 2 forza 3 & diablo 3 anyway this is all off topic.
to be 100% honest id rather wait till GT5 actually comes out before i make any judgment on it, ive got forza 3 and to be honest i was expecting more but needles to say its a pretty cool racing sim all the same.

i paused it in the middle of the video,i saw that the exhaust in forza are poped out,in forza the horse is higher,the lights look so so bad,the street is light,the color is poor,the sand in forza looks more realistic but at the same time it looks old and boring,though i have played forza but not gt5 yet,i drove a m3 and my friend drove a chrysler my m3 was porly detailed,while my friends chrysler looked more poor than the one i drove in midnight club 3 for ps2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wtf forza sucks!

Very cool unbiased video & comments by the up loader.
I find GT5 & Prologues Graphics to be more realistic then that of the Forza series. This video is a very good example of that because if you look at them side by side the environment of Forza and car it's self look great but looks almost kind of cheesy compared to GT, Forza seems to be over abundant in reflections and seems to lack certain textures and dynamics for the car and track, but don't get me wrong though they both look great.

The Xbox360 is far from close to Ps3 hardware power, not only xbox360 runs on a basic tri core cpu but the card is about the same performance as ps3... which is a very very big loss compared to PS3 Processor which has 8 Cores with 1 for technical purposes and the rest natively built for graphics tasks, while the cpu of the xbox360 is not, not to mention that xbox360 does not support native 1920*1080 resolution with hardware scaling, it just uses the microsoft software scaling to reach it.

and when you do it with software scaling you are going to use a similar system as Zoom obviously making the display more blurred and foggy.
So yeah its pretty much underpowered compared to a ps3, infact you can run Raytrace at 20fps a granturismo car such as ferrari f430 at 640p at 20fps, WITH GPU TURNED OFF, everything rendered by 6 cores of the ps3 cell processor.
Xbox360 tri core cpu is no match for intel core i7 when it comes to graphics tasks, what chance do u think...

That is why you see graphics like granturismo, killzone and uncharted 2 on ps3 and you see graphics like halo and gears of wars in xbox360.

Remember: Xbox360 uses its gfx card to render graphics and uses its cpu for tasks and scripts such as "AI" & physics with only 3 cores.
while
Ps3 Uses its gpu to render graphics+ its cpu main core to render scripts such as "AI" + its other 6 cores to render gfx and physics.
You could attempt to render gfx and physics in your xbox360 cpu but then you would have not enough power to keep the necessary processing tasks running, and the performance would actually decrease.

oh and i forgot to mention that xbox360 is actually bottlenecked by the dvd 9 low space, you get 2 dvds in forza 3 because 400 cars couldnt fit on just 1...
and add to that compressed sounds and textures.
GT5 runs on 1 blu ray disc with uncompressed sounds which is indeed a luxury and a nice addition and more than 900 cars, so yeah the drive limitation also affects the game pretty much.

gt5 runs so fluid and the shadows in the game looks superb! and the graphics are better but i dont think graphics does everything. the surroundings must look godd and fell alive and gt5 delivers that with awesome shadows and fluid gameplay. i havent playd it im just telling what felling i am getting out of the video. forza fells just old in a way when you put it up against gt5

Now i like this comparison, only thing bad i have to say is that sometimes on both games you can see the scenery lag a little but overall they are very high quality. I also think this is unfair due to forza having been out for quite some time and GT being newer and fresher. I do believe that the full GT will look much better when it comes out in 2010 but until then we will not know. I don't believe that the PS3's graphics card (which isn't much better then the 360) has anything to do with this

Prologue looks better than Forza 3, although Forza 3 looks much better than Forza 2, Forza 2 looks shit, they overdo reflections and bloom, and in FM3's case saturation.

Its quite pointless and foolish to compare an upgrade able pc with a console even tough the ps3 cell is far more powerfull in gfx calcs than any other cpu on the market for personal usage, i could go by your logic and say a Server wins a PC... does that make the server games better? no because they dont exist, as for pc games i have to say they are terrible in graphics compared to ps3 excluding crysis, they just look like multiplatform games because thats what pc gets these days tbh.

sure it is, its exactly the same with game boy pocket, game boy pocket has the exactly same hardware power as playstation portable...
a tri core cpu + outdated card is no match for a dual graphics processor way.
Ps3 Cell not only does the basic cpu tasks but it is fairly potent at graphics where xbox360 fails, furthermore it supports true 1920*1080res with hardware scaling while xbox360 doesnt, also xbox360 does not have a bluray, also xbox360 tflops calculation is twice as low as a ps3.

OMFG. Yes, the PS3 has way more processing power vs 360 but i think PD's usual take on the detail of the cars and accurate digital representations of locations really shines here. Just look at the details in the side by side...the tailights, exhausts and the curbs just to name a few examples. Even the way the car moves, it's as if the Forza Ferrari is rotating like it was impaled on a pole while the GT Ferrari is much more poised. Also, what's with that excessive glare on a day that looks foggy?

im sorry to say i dont have a car list, but if you played gt5 prologue you can get some hints, ferrari cars are in, nissan, mitsubishi, opel, blitz, honda, lexus, toyota, and more, super cars well in prologue theres a ferrari formula 1 car, Citroen By GT car (you can look that one up the internet).
The information i got was from various sites that interviewed the devs of GT5 and told them that thats how many cars and tracks we would be expecting.

I can tell you some things.
GT5 will have about 1,000 cars, around 75 tracks, upgraded driving physics, damage, and more.
I know that lamborghini is finally in gt5, as well as the new ferrari 458 italia, and the mercedes SLS, bughatti veyron, and tons of other bran new super sports cars and race cars. There will also be rally cars from citroen, suburu, and a bunch of others.

i think gt5 will be a better sim than forza. as far as i can tell, physics, specs, and modeling in gt5 will be more accurate than the ones in forza 3, but forza 3 will have more custom. options. forza is for 360, which more people own... so at the end of the day, i suppose forza will outsell gt5. either way, both games look beautiful. i think forza saturates their colors too much (looks more appealing to the eye) and make reflections too prominent. gt5 looks more natural, less like eye candy.

GT5 will probably outsell Forza 3 (I say 70%-80% chance). Why?
#1-The "Gran Turismo" name alone moves systems. The fact PS3 hasn't yet had a full GT game was a big blow.
#2-NASCAR and WRC are only in Gran Turismo 5 now.
#3-Europe is crazy for Gran Turismo! They bought over 2 million copies of Proluge. They will be back for the full game.
#4-PS3 just got a $100 price drop, overcoming a huge hurdle that has plauged it (Its price). Sales will be up this holiday season.
