  • i used to wish i was born in the generation with bob dylan, the doors, the who, ect.... but then i took a black keys in the ear.

  • @musiclover2161 Nothing really like the Keys. Dream Theater, Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, RATM, Nirvana and Muse are my favourite at the moment, apart from the BK's.

  • Patrick Carney = Buddy Holly

  • i love the black keys, but it seems as though their atitude towards other artists is completely rude. saying they "fucking pretty much hate anyone with an image". seperating their music from them, it pisses me off. Just because they change the guitars a little and think they are different from everyone doesnt give them the right to go off on other artists. all bands change, they changed deal with it! their first album is awesome and so is El camino!

  • @musiclover2161 Pat called Nickelback shit in a Rolling Stone interview. True as it may be, it's not very nice of him.

  • Fellas. music is music. Theres good music and bad music. Both the stripes and keys fall into the good category. You're really missing the point of music when you try to break it down any more than that. Its all a matter of taste at that point.

  • Oh wow.

I will surrender to say that Jack White is a better guitarist than Dan is. Dan doesn't really include complex riffs in his music because that's just not what the Black Keys are about. Simple, fundamental and clean blues is their mantra. Jack White is NOT a better vocalist than Dan, and let's face it, we all liked Meg because she was just a stone hearted bitch. She wasn't a great drummer by any means and she really wasn't strong in the vocal department. Their both true to music.

  • At least you know ur stuff... i love the black keys and it seems to me they are one of the only bands that still puts the kind of passion into their music as they did in the 60s and 70s. The keys defnately have a great sound but for me nothing compares to Zeppelin and their ability to play any kind of music from hard rock to funk to reggae to folk to blues you name it.

  • F***ing Outstanding!...

  • HELL YES. I just saw who else was nominated: Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett, Coldplay, Foster the People, and Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera. REALLY????!!!! NONE OF THOSE PEOPLE EVEN COME CLOSE TO THE BLACK KEYS!!!!

  • @phantasmo14 Amy Winehouse, what a beautiful yet tortured soul. She comes within range of the Black Keys, man. Gotta admit that. One thing I can stand is people hate her because of her alcoholism. Look beneath that, great voice.

  • @theoriginalMaxman2 ur just saying that cause she's dead. if she wasn't dead u wouldn't have even thought about her

  • @phantasmo14 nor do they come close to R&B

  • GRAAMMMMMYYYYY!!!

  • Grammmmmay!

  • this just got nominated for a grammy

  • Who's better than The Black Keys? Nobodeh, that's who.

  • I love Buddy Holly

    I love The Black Keys

I love this cover and the whole tribute album

    How can anybody dislike this?

  • Not often do I like covers better, but this one is just amazing. I keep hitting replay. Just amazing and well done

  • Sounds like Motown is in town

  • god i wish the black keys would go back to being a blues group instead of an r&b group

  • @DoctorRazzArea4 R&B = Rhythm and BLUES. Beside if every music group did the same shit it would get old and all their songs would sounds the same, thats why i dont listen to The Foo Fighters anymore.

  • @DoctorRazzArea4 their new album isn't r&b at all

  • @atowari R&B stands for Rhythm and Blues. If the Black Keys aren't rhythm and blues I don't know what is.

  • gotdamn i said asaid gotdamn

  • patrick kinda looks like buddy

  • I've grown up w/ Buddy, have a tat of his glasses and fender stratocaster. I was leary of a cover on Dearest but, you did a better than good job. Course, it helps w/ Buddy's pic's mixed in w/ yours. Very classy and respectful to a die hard Holly fan. tyvm for honoring and remembering him.

  • @TheTrippybutterfly Omnomnom.

  • Bad cover my ass. TBK are the best. Go worship satin dumbass.

  • bad cover

  • Dearest is not by Buddy Holly, in fact Buddy Holly covered Dearest by Mickey & Sylvia. So in the end, this is an cover, of a cover, of Dearest by Mickey & Sylvia

  • @carboncopy0 Buddy Holly wrote this song. You can hear his home demo on the new "Rarities" album. Mickey & Sylvia covered Buddy.

  • @grski88 Buddy Holly did a cover version of the song "Dearest". The original version is by Mickey & Sylvia.

  • I just... can't even... Gosh! I love the Black Keys!

  • The Black Keys ruined me for other music. Everything else...it's just not the same.

  • @OptimisticNihilistic try deer tick

  • @OptimisticNihilistic Led Zeppelin try it. similar sound i think.

  • @redsoxfan1324 I've tried it. Several times. And I'm still trying. If by trying, you mean loving, that is. JPJ is my favourite bassist, I even prefer him to Flea. And I love Flea. It's just I love Damn's voice, it's so gritty, so bluesy, it just about beats Plant for passion. Plus he plays guitar at the same time. He's no Page, and Dan's no Bonzo, but I still prefer their music :P

  • @OptimisticNihilistic Ok the white stripes are better than the black keys. way better. and I think I can confidently say that if the ws's didn't exist the bk's never would have either so get over ur self. It's the Beatles that ruined it for everyone else they're the greatest band ever and never will be topped.

  • @MrJstarr1986 This is quite possibly the funniest comment I have ever seen. 1. The White Stripes are NOT better than the Black Keys. You'd have to be crazy and/or deaf to rate Jack White above Dan Auerbach, as a guitarist, singer, frontman or lyricist. Meg White doesn't have shit on Pat Carney.

    2. The Beatles ruined other music? Wow, bitch, you CRAZY! The Beatles were the first great rock band. I have nothing but respect for them, they made great music. But they never really were the BEST.

  • @OptimisticNihilistic

You'd be ignorant to think that that the Black Keys haven't lost their soul. I remember being a young teen in the early 90's first hearing there stuff on a transworld skateboarding video, and loving their twangy bluesy sound. They had soul back then, now they're becoming formulaic, and their new stuff like that on Brothers and El Camino can't even compare with their earlier work.

  • @nikkisixxual Well I'm only getting into their stuff now, I only have their last three albums back to Attack and Release, and me personally, I love it. If they have, as you say, lost their soul, they still have massively larger amounts compared to your common-or-garden rock/punk/anything band around today. I can't help but believe that you don't like their music now because it isn't their old stuff. Lonely Boy, I get the lack of soul. But Little Back Submarines? Sister? They're great songs.

  • @nikkisixxual what do you mean, the early 90's? dudes didn't even form the band until 2001.

  • @dillonpmitchell

    That was a typo.

  • @nikkisixxual Wow another hater that's completely written this band off for their popularity. I'm not sure you understand the definition of formulaic, but if they had kept the same twangy blues sound for all of their records, THAT would've been formulaic. Changing up their sound and doing more of a throwback 70s rock is the opposite of formulaic, and they do it quite well. Just because their not starving artists anymore doesn't mean they've lost their soul & it shows in the music.

  • @nikkisixxual They may not be playing tiny record stores in Akron, Ohio anymore, but they still put as much soul into a performance at the Hollywood Palladium (and they did when I saw them) as they did with their underground shows. I didn't realize (and I'm sure Dan and Pat didn't either) that having soul and being underground were mutually exclusive concepts.

  • @nikkisixxual You're an idiot. The Black Keys didn't even form until 2001. There's no way they were around in the early 90's.

  • @OptimisticNihilistic ok, two things. Jack white is abov eand beyond a better guitarist than Dan.but not a better singer. Dan was not in "It might get Loud" with the Edge and Jimmy Page. it was Jack white.

Two - the Beatles for their time, were the best. Thats why they are still relevant today. 40 some odd years later. dont you get that. you might not love their music, but they are considered the best, by just about everyone who knows shit about music. I still love the BK's!! love em

  • @musiclover2161 1. The Edge isn't a great guitarist either. By any stretch of the imagination. Listen to "Little Black Submarines", the solo in that song is FUCKING MINDBLOWING! :D

    2. If you say so, I still prefer the Stones. And if you count all of the time they were together, you can include Led Zeppelin in there too. Now, I still like their music, Day Tripper is a great song. And remember popular isn't the same as good, especially in a world where Nickelback are the biggest band in the world

  • @OptimisticNihilistic but if the beatles werent great, they would still not be relevant and looked upon as the best and all that 40 years latter. "Yesterday" was, IMO, the song of a generation. And I really dont think NB is the biggest and most popular band in the world, by any means. I think that is U2 and deserved. all said and done the BK are a fucking great band and a great find for me in the past year.

  • @musiclover2161 Agreed on everything 'cept U2 point. Not a big fan of them, their music is too generic for my taste. But yeah, me gusta los Black Keys.

  • @OptimisticNihilistic what do you listen to? always looking for other bands.

  • @MrJstarr1986 (Previous comment cont.) I can name dozens of bands that I find musically and lyrically just as good, if not better, than The Beatles. Radiohead, The Black Keys, Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, Them Crooked Vultures, Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Rush, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Kasabian, Arcade Fire...need I really go on? The Beatles were great musicians, and great innovators, but I don't think you could ever say they ruined music for anyone. Apart from you...hmm.

  • makes me soo happy.

  • Digno

  • Better then the original in my opinion, and that's saying something.

  • dan has such a nice voice

  • Sex to the ears.

  • Patrick Carney kinda looks like Buddy Holly

  • Don't like it--too hollow compared to the original, lacks feeling and is too mechanical.

  • Very different and interesting cover

  • The Black Keys ruined my future expectations in men.

  • The Black Keys can do no wrong

  • Awesome!! Great song great band great cover!

  • Comment removed

  • Not nearly as beautifully simplistic as the original but I do appreciate their creativity with the song.

  • mmm that's nice :)

  • This is brilliant.

  • If I had this song down my pants I might get a girlfriend

  • @decimalsanddollars Thank you for that image, decimalsanddollars. :) Now, I keep picturing men I find handsome, pulling down there pants, only to reveal blinding stage lights where their private parts belong, and the sexy, coaxing vocals of Dan A. charging at my susceptibility to incredible music, erecting the 'dearest' vibrations a person could wish for; how surreal that visual and how titilating! So yah, thanks again, and good luck to you "get"ting" a girlfriend"--not so bad taste in music:)

  • @decimalsanddollars That's alright... maybe if I had pants on I would too...

  • @decimalsanddollars If you had this song down your pants, you'd have many girlfriends.

  • This is obscenely amazing! The Black Keys own my soul.
