People seem to like the top part (the non destructive part) of atomic bomb explosions / the mushroom cloud. Destruction is caused by the sockwave and blast surrounding the base. The cloud it's self might consume a bird or two but causes no damage at all after the initial blast.
@AzumiRM well the cloud often carries massive doses of radioactive fallout though which is the majority of the problem in using them as you get horrible birth defects/mutation like the hiroshima babies.
@THECHAOS111 not tomention the flash alone contains most of the radiation, which burns, iradiates, and ionizes everything within flashrange, including the atmosphere. and its not over, the ionized atmosphere is then acting like a giant capacitor that immediately discharges and fries any electronic system in range. i learned this in the military
@Neko3Noskire well the flash contains the main burst of gamma radiation which causes that, the fallout mostly contains the remnant uranium and such which is why areas remain contaminated
Could you post the Castle Romeo footage, the neat one taken from an airplane with a wing in camera view and the detonation evolving in the distance? I've seen bits and pieces of it - the initial flash and the later fireball, but not the whole thing.
Would be a stark contrast to compare it to this one, I think. 11 megatons vs. 11 kilotons.
@langleygm The presence of that cactus is what makes this video. Less sterile than most other shots showing nothing but empty expanse of the desert. Call it an artistic touch.
@atomcentral All the old propaganda stock footage seems to have the sound right with the explosion. It's irritating. Who cares if we wait or don't even hear it at all? It's essentially them going out of their way to dumb it down.
this is cool! i love the fact that you have the test unedited! it would be cool to see some of the mike and bravo footage from countdown till the fireball goes out! without camra change to see how it really went down
stop it right at 0:04, awesome flash

Dude,
In the Fallout universe, every country in the world launched every missile they had.
That's more than 500,000 nukes!

Is this the orginial sound? Even if it has been delayed?
mai1992 1 year ago
@mai1992 : The sound SHOULD take awhile to reach them, so unless they want to die or become irradiated, they better be miles away from the explosion.

yes, most people would get tired of waiting for the sound to follow the image after about 30 seconds.

Huh, the sound comes about 1 sec. later, that means you're not further than 500m from the blast... The sound's modified right?
