  • Comment removed

  • that would be great, definitely a gem

  • There is an old recording of Shaukat hussain and a very young ustad tari khan, but it is a treasured recording among his students and no one else really has access to it with out ustadji's permission

  • i guess im gonna have 2 officially become a shagrid of ustad ji then. that would be an amazing video though.

  • waaah..i just wanted to clear up any confusion...yes allah rakha sahid ji also has a similar kaida composition...but it is a little different than this one..it is a dha tita comp...this is a little more dehli baaj incorporating punjab gharana as well..an amazing piece...god blesss..(if u would like to see allah rakha ji's similar compostion ..his student Aditya kalyanpur ji can be found here on u tube..playing his teacher's composition...later friends..

  • khush raho ustad muhtaram ustad shaukat hussain khan sahab...wah wah ..5 stars

  • truly divine, beautiful composition

  • Dildar does not play the traditional tabla that can be seen in Hindustani classical music but instead plays a combination of "jori" as the treble, and "dhamma" as the bass to create a deeper, warmer sound than the the modern tabla set creates. Today, he can sometimes be seen accompanying Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

  • Between 7:09-7:33 Ustad Shaukat Hussain play a compostion by Didar Hussain.

  • could you give some info on dildar hussain...i love collecting old compositions :)

  • Yes i can give as much Information pf Dildar Hussain and see if that helps you. Here it is

Dildar Hussain learned tabla from Ustad Allah Rakha Khan. His first performance was in India in 1969 before he joined Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Qawwali party in 1971. Along with Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan, Nusrat's brother, Dildar had been a member of the party since its formation.

  • uhhh,ok...dildar hussain might have played it, but i think it must be an older composition...shaukat hussain was almost the same age as allahrakha, and they were gur bhais...i highly doubt that its Dildar Hussain's composition.

  • Oh Sorry I meant to say The composition was Composed By Khan Saheb Ustad Allah Rakha.

  • Balraj50, nice catch, I noticed that too! When I met Dildar JI (I've been his biggest fan for a long long time), and he asked me to play something classical, I played this composition, and he just smiled, it was a moment I'll cherish for the rest of my life. This composition is my favorite.

  • Listen to this track called: Piya More Aare Mein composed by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in raag Khama Vati in Teental from the album Lok Virsa Vol.2 and look out for this compostion between 0:53 to 1:20.

  • bHILAJ I TRIED TO STAY OUT OF IT BUT SORRY YOUR IDIOCITY PULLED ME IN THIS. wHAT SIMILARITY BETWEEN ABBAJEE(Ustad Allah Rakha Saheb)and Ustad Shaukat Hussain Saheb? are you deffff?? you dont hear the tonal quality of this guy.Noone's tablaa sounded like Ustad Shaukat Hussain Khan. If any ?? Plz i want to hear it.plz dont insult legendry artists like that.

  • Gabbru,

Miyan Shaukat and NFAK are in a different class. NFAK would humbly ask Miyan Shaukat to play with him. Also, NFAK is a qawalli singer. Miyan Shaukat is a classical tabla player. There is a big difference.

Furthermore, Miyan Shaukat lived quite well in Pakistan. There were classical singers like Salamat Ali, Nazakat Ali, Fateh Ali (not Nusrat),Amanat Ali, Ghulam Shaggan, Roshan Ara Begum, etc that needed Miyan Sahib to accompany them.

  • @past594 ustad nusrat fateh ali khan was not only a qwaal he belonged to a classical family read his shijra first and shukat hussain sb has played with khan sahibmany times videos are on you tube

  • Dont know where you get that silly idea from. Zakir is famous for his ability to express himself on stage and present his stuff in an exciting way. That is what sets him apart. As for the technical ability there is an endless list of people who can outperform him.

The punjabiprinze user on youtube admitted that also.

  • agreed.

  • listen to bhulli khan his video is in youtube too no body can play dhirdir as fast as him

  • Awesome..one ofthe best tabla maestro's i've heard so far

  • What beautiful technique!

  • He was born in phagwara, jalandhar distict his ustad was late pandit heeralal-ji(a disciple of ustad gamey khan of the delhi gharana and the younger brother of late ustad nathu khan).I had the golden chance to sit with this legend and it was one of my happiest days in my life.May miya ustad shaukat hussain khan soul rest in heaven and in peace. One of his big time inspriations was ustad ahmedjaan thirakwa.

  • He played Delhi bols with Punjabi timing. Brilliant!

  • Am curious to know more of what you mean. Can you give me some examples in here? I am trying to understand Punjab influences in his playing.

    Thanks

  • asdube-HIS INITIAL TUBLA TALIM WAS ACQUIRED FROM PUNDIT HEERA LAL OF DEHLI BAAJ.

  • Very nice

  • I am not Pakistani, but Pakistan seems to produce some of the most dynamic and best Tabla players. Very nice

  • but hes not from pakistan....he was born in punjab india

  • but hes not from pakistan....he was born in punjab india

  • You could be right..I was under the impression that he was from Pakistan Punjab with the name like his..But he is very good!

  • Sorry, He is from Pakistan Punjab!!

  • jaspreet6: meri sarkar why are you saying thats ustad Shaukat Hussain "not from pakistan....he was born in punjab india"

Great singer Ustad Mehdi Hussan was born in Rjsthan (India) but i never ever heard any one calling him Indian furthermore night gale of punjabi Music late Surinder Kaur was born in Lahore (british India) now Pakistan but i never heard anyone calling her Pakistani and their is long list like it so please refrain from knowingly making misleading statements. regards.

  • that first bol he plays, thats an extremely hard bol to play in double speed, i dont kno how he did it, kyaa baat hai

  • After watching this video i realise where Tari Khan got his sound quality from. This Ustad produces the most beautiful sound on the tabla (from the players i have heard).

  • really great performance he is awesome

  • ammazing tabla player-- i have never enjoyed anyone solo tabla like-- I mean anyone.

  • one of the greatest leagends in tabla history.

  • (ZZKP).. yes ustad ..mian shaukat hussain khan ji.. iss the ustad of Ustad..Abdul Sitar. Tari khan saheb..if u watch the interview clip of ustad ji..he is asked about Tari sahib...and theres also a clip with an interview wit Ustad Tari ji..and he also says that mian shaukat hussain ji is his teacher..it's great to c so many ppl into indian classical music..

  • i totally agre with bhilaj ji..n yes ustad shaukat ji is the ustad of ustad tari khan sahib..

  • Ustad Shoukat Hussain was the usatd (Teacher) of tari khan and u all know what tari khan is in Tabala. if someones student is that much talented then What abt ustad.

  • theres is an amazing video of ustaad amanat ali in a mehfil in which our ustaad shaukat hussain plays tabla. i was so happy when i saw that

  • This Ustad is Gurubhai of Alla Rakha Khan & both were students of Qadir Bux of Punjab Gharana. I think the similarities are quite obvious.

  • What similarities do you mean? I really didn't see any. The only thing obvious here is that you don't know what you are talking about. Abbaji didn't play any bols similar to what Miyan Shaukat Khansahib plays in this recording.

  • Ok make a comment but dont go insulting me. I have sat with Abbaji for many long hours and I personally see the similarities in STYLE ! Bols are Bols ! When you can actually play the Instrument and post your performance's then you are qualified to pass comment on such matters, until then look & learn but please dont speak.

  • You are funny. Miyan Sahib is my DadaUstadji. Ustadji Tari Khansahib is my Ustad. Ask any tabla player. there is no similarity between Miyan Sahib and Abbaji. I have sincere respect for Abbaji he is one of Mahapunjab's Ustads. thank you sir.

  • All that heritage and you still cant play ? (N0 CLIPS)I still insist there is an incredible similarity in them just the way they sit and appear I realise Shaukat is not as mathematical in his bols but as i said at the end of the day Bols are just a load of Bols !

  • Just Beautiful

  • very nice...i have got this video...in this video are ustad tafo, ustad tari khan and ustad shaukat hussain! in this video ustad shaukat hossain plays a tabla solo in jhaptaal, too!

  • I would be very grateful if you can let me have a copy of the full video. prety pretty please. All costs would be paid of course.
