I disagree with high damage making a scrubby game. Just look at ST. That game has crazy high damage and is still played in tournament until this day.
It's actually the other way around. SSF4's low damage makes it a scrubby game because you can afford to make a lot of mistakes and still survive. In MvC3 and ST you have to have some really good defense to pull through.

Yeah, as others have said, Sentinel is good, but he isn't THAT good. Right after I watched this, I watched a tournament stream on Spooky where all the Sentinel teams got knocked out before finals, and grand finals had no sents. So he's good, but the game just came out, we don't know how is really tops yet.

Everything they said is basically 'wrong' even before the patch yesterday. Sentinel is not god, x-factor doesn't break the game (makes things omg insane at times though), and the game is NO WHERE NEAR as glitchy/broken as mvc2 thank God!

Psssh Sentinel is not much of a problem. Its not hard to beat him just spend some time with the game and learn and you can take him out with medium difficulty. If all else fails run wesker against him. Wesker is a anti-setinel if used right.

Take a look at Justin's team, Wolvie/Storm/Gouki. Instead of RAGE about how broken Sentinel is, he just beat him, mainly with Wolverine which was unthinkable to play as in MvC2. Justin's Storm also had almost nothing to do with his wins aside from Hail Storm. He'll probably change her not long from now.

The only time X-Factor is a big deal is when Sentinel uses it. He already does huge damage + with X-Factor = screwed. I gladly stand corrected. Turns out Sents' a sitting duck for instant overhead. BUT, it IS Justin Wong. I've seen a few other Wolverine's try to copy the rushdown but I don't know how successful. Wolvy can basicaly do a dive kick then follow it with a downwards drill call to keep pressure on, double tapping you really, then mix it up with Akumas great assist.

Marn mentioned starting a diet quite some time ago; and these things take time. I think his progress since Season's Beatings has been very good. If he continues to progress, it'll be because he had the strength to not allow nasty comments from strangers to upset his motivation.
I played MvC3 today for the first time in the store. I spent three friggin hours in there. MAN it's addictive. It was a promo with all chars bar the last 4 announced (Akuma, Sent, Task, Hsien) I think Sentinel not being available made it a bit more balanced, though we were just eager to try all the chars, which kinda took some of the competitiveness out. although by the end i had established Doom, Wolverine and Super Skrull as my mains. Doom FTW!!!
I think MArn is not so open minded about the game. He WANTS it to be like MVC2 while capcom made it into a completely new game by making it appeal to tourney junkies with sentinel and appealing to new comers *like me and many others* with the basic input button. over all the game is good in my opinion is the Net system that suck with the "LOST CONNECTION TO HOST"
they honestly just need to balance out x-factor by not increasing the damage output as much or no increase in dmg output at all. they do that and the game will be so much better
Watching the Wednesday Night Fights stream renewed my confidence in this game. Really cool stuff being done without Sentinel. I think the only thing holding this game back is how stupidly powerful X-Factor is; if Capcom can tone it down in a patch, then this game can become a real classic, imo.

@BatOtaku13 ultra's have to be landed, dont do ridiculous chip, don't recover your health and increase speed and don't allow two supers to be chained...all at once. It's not comparable to ultras in sf4 at all.
@EmJaYGaming i don't know if that's true at all. x-factor allows for comebacks, it's not infinite, and both players can use it. it's meant to be used as a last ditch effort more than anything. this is coming from the perspective of someone who doesnt do tournaments, but i don't think it's broken and i see the validity of x-factor as a gameplay system. yes, mvc3 isn't as technical as mvc2, but that's actually a good thing. ssf4 and blazblue exist for that reason.
They could ban sentinel in tournaments and lower the damage and then it might be more fair then. As far as x-factor goes, capcom should put in an option to turn it on and off. Smash Bros has tons of different options to change up gameplay and I don't think that would be that hard to do.
Nerf Sentinel, remove bonus damage on X-Factor, and you're done, the game would be far better with just those 2 simple changes.
People complain about Dante, but Dante has to put in so much work to take 60% of your life, Sentinel doesn't, he has simple 6-7 hit combos that do just as much if not more, he needs to be nerfed.
If Capcom doesn't attempt to balance this game we're gonna be @ Evo again with 2000 people @ Super Street Fighter IV and like 100-200 at the other fighters, MvsC3 included.

Marn mentioned starting a diet quite some time ago; and these things take time. I think his progress since Season's Beatings has been very good. If he continues to progress, it'll be because he had the strength to not allow nasty comments from strangers to upset his motivation.

I played MvC3 today for the first time in the store. I spent three friggin hours in there. MAN it's addictive. It was a promo with all chars bar the last 4 announced (Akuma, Sent, Task, Hsien) I think Sentinel not being available made it a bit more balanced, though we were just eager to try all the chars, which kinda took some of the competitiveness out. although by the end i had established Doom, Wolverine and Super Skrull as my mains. Doom FTW!!!

I think MArn is not so open minded about the game. He WANTS it to be like MVC2 while capcom made it into a completely new game by making it appeal to tourney junkies with sentinel and appealing to new comers *like me and many others* with the basic input button. over all the game is good in my opinion is the Net system that suck with the "LOST CONNECTION TO HOST"

Watching the Wednesday Night Fights stream renewed my confidence in this game. Really cool stuff being done without Sentinel. I think the only thing holding this game back is how stupidly powerful X-Factor is; if Capcom can tone it down in a patch, then this game can become a real classic, imo.

you really think X-factor ruins the game? really? it's the equivalent of the ultra combos in sf4. also, sentinel is definitely tough, but i don't think he's stupidly overpowered like mvc2.

@BatOtaku13 ultra's have to be landed, dont do ridiculous chip, don't recover your health and increase speed and don't allow two supers to be chained...all at once. It's not comparable to ultras in sf4 at all.

@EmJaYGaming i don't know if that's true at all. x-factor allows for comebacks, it's not infinite, and both players can use it. it's meant to be used as a last ditch effort more than anything. this is coming from the perspective of someone who doesnt do tournaments, but i don't think it's broken and i see the validity of x-factor as a gameplay system. yes, mvc3 isn't as technical as mvc2, but that's actually a good thing. ssf4 and blazblue exist for that reason.

They could ban sentinel in tournaments and lower the damage and then it might be more fair then. As far as x-factor goes, capcom should put in an option to turn it on and off. Smash Bros has tons of different options to change up gameplay and I don't think that would be that hard to do.

Nerf Sentinel, remove bonus damage on X-Factor, and you're done, the game would be far better with just those 2 simple changes.
People complain about Dante, but Dante has to put in so much work to take 60% of your life, Sentinel doesn't, he has simple 6-7 hit combos that do just as much if not more, he needs to be nerfed.
If Capcom doesn't attempt to balance this game we're gonna be @ Evo again with 2000 people @ Super Street Fighter IV and like 100-200 at the other fighters, MvsC3 included.
