Forget DVD, there's a cinema if release of The Secret of Kells opening 12 March 2010 across the USA. While in Britain, which is right next to Ireland nothing of the sort (though we can, admittedly, play the region 2 Irish DVD release, I suspect that this is very much the kind of film, like Azur et Asmar and, in their own ways, MirrorMask and Tenshi no Tamago, that a viewing in standard TV definition misses much of the point of).

I'm sorry, this is driving me crazy. I really want to watch this movie, yet I don't think they sell any copies of the DvD in American format. Its so artistic and very intriguing. I just love it. And the story seems very cool too.

It's on dvd in region 2 format (europe) by now but I've got no info on an American release. It should make it to the States at some point but yeah, international distribution seems slow...

Since its been released by Buena Vista Int. I think Disney down here in America might release it...eventually. Maybe, some dude from Europe will rip the contents from the movie and upload it here, like some people would. However, since I am in America, chances of seeing this movie are slim. I have seen this film at a local film festival a brilliant film I really hope it is at least released on DVD in the Americas. The animation is stunning and the story and atmosphere breath taking a must see.

In Europe it has been released theatrically, in the US, Canada and South America it will most like be show on film festivals. It has been dubbed into French, Dutch and possible German. I don't know if a Spanish print has been made. On DVD it will most like include Spanish subtitles though.

it was in a film festival that took place once a year here in Buenos Aires, the BAFICI (Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema); the film was in english with spanish subtitles

I've just seen this movie in Germany at the Berlinale. I have to say I am AMAZED and completely in love in this animation movie! Perfection! I'm not going to spoil the movie for anyone though. If it should come out somewhere else soon then I advise you to see it!

As a matter of fact I am working as a young Journalist at the Berlianle Film Festival. I am to watch the movies and write a critique on them. Brendan and the Secret of Kells got a very postive review from me telling everyone to go watch it asap. Did you work on it??

That's really good news, happy it got good reviews! We can't compete with Hollywood but at least we didn't try to copy them either. =)

Yeah, I was one of the animators (mostly the "Brendan" character, and some stuff on the wolves.

I think there's a good chance it gets to Canada, you'll find it at festivals without a doubt. For a commecial release, they're trying to get international distribution ;)
