your painting is awesome!! love it!...i'm starting to paint now after years of not doing it so hopefully it will look good! whats the name of the song you have in the video i loved it!!!!
I am struggling myself, but with the bodies of water. Suggestion on the lighting issue for video is to get yourself a flourescent lamp for background ;) that should solve it for ur nighttime painting and video taking. I love your work, it is very beautiful and you are skilled so donot give up or in! I take it you too are a Ross fan and are influenced by him as well as I am? He was so great!
I love the way you do the big tree at 4:45 i've not seen it done that way in a while. I usually use a fan brush. I might just have to try this method again.
I think this is beautiful, personally. The only thing I would go back and fix is the tree on the far right, as it's a little slanty. The painting as a whole is gorgeous though, don't be so hard on yourself. I'm tempted to walk away from my paintings too, but sometimes you need a kick in the ass to get back to it and get it done. :D
Hey, your really nice in painting, i have a price for the best painter of the school, and im still suprised about your painting skills, i can maybe paint good, but your the best, maybe you can go to a acedamy for painters or
something like that, and can you make a paint of me? like you did for the others? i really want one,
Hello my dutch friend :-) You did just fine with your english and I appreciate your stopping by to watch my videos. I will be back to portraits most likely once I conquer the oil painting battle.
I appreciate that... though it's still a struggle and a bit of a love hate relationship with oils still. I hate being beaten, so I'm still in for the fight! Nearly every mountain now I've scraped away and done over... i just don't leave those bits in the video... tricky me :)
woah! you are improving wonderfully! best one yet! i kinda doubted it becaue it looked so dark and drab, but that was just the lighting. wonderful colors!
I actually quit in the middle and walked away from it... told my friend I was going to quit this one because it was crushing my spirit a bit.. but my stubborn side kicked in and I got through it.
Well look at you! Your looking like a pro, and I love the moutain seen. You starting to look more confident with your movements too. Im really impressed.
Look at you go! Those trees aren't so intimidating now, are they? You are improving in leaps and bounds. The snowcap mountains are gorgeous and the trees are very realistic. You rock, Mary!
Thank you my friend :) This one discouraged me quite a lot with the trees... however, I have found some really good tutorials that I'm going to try to learn from, so hopefully next round I'll conquer those pesky evergreens a bit better.
I love you for your constant encouragement... you are such a beautiful soul, my friend.
The flash put some funky patterns on the picture that aren't there when you are looking at it (looks almost like claw marks in the final pic in the video..lol) But I'd say the cloud arrangement and feel is the best in this one so far.
That is a very beautiful painting! Now I have to ask, "Do you look at pictures, or do you rely on your mind"? For me I would have to look at a picture. I know that art comes in different forms and the mind can give great ideas. Watching you does help one learn a great deal.
These are actually some of the Bob Ross tutorial paintings. I try to stick to the general same composition, but am prone to changing elements within (mainly because I'd go crazy trying to match up with his tree for tree, so to speak).
I'm still in the training wheels stage. Once I get a grip on more of the techniques then I'll start to venture out more on my own :)
I know in my head where I want the painting to end up and see all the shortcomings when it's completed. I'd be happy just to be close at this point, but those are part of the growing pains I reckon. :-)

Wow. Looks great to me. I think you are too harsh on yourself. You've got a great grasp on the medium.

Wow, you did a great job. Did you learn this from Bob Ross? I have one of he tapes and you use the same techniques. Very well done.

I liked this one, and i agree with you that the clouds are very nice, along with the color of the lake.

ik what you mean... no matter how good it really is... looking at it for the hours you work on it makes you notice the mistakes others never will.
djarnexus 3 years ago
Yes, you are spot on. All I see are the mistakes or the things I wish I had done differently and for me, those overshadow the entire piece.
I looked at your artwork on photobucket - you have some really nice artwork on there. :-)
