Love my B&D 24V trimmer! I have a large yard and still got it because I have a 24V drill, so I have two batteries, and a rapid charger.... Otherwise, my yard is too big. You get a solid 20 minutes, maybe 30 mins tops. However, my driveway edges look better than they ever did with an overpowered gas trimmer. I loose control of the gas trimmer and scalp my edges. This has enough power do to a good job and not lose control. Also, its easy on my redwood fence, but tough on the grass.

Black and Decker strimmers are poorly designed. The spool cable housing is brittle and every model strimmer has a different size housing so they are very difficult to replace.

Yes, the safety switch lock is there to reduce chances of anyone getting hurt while operating it.
