I like to set the delay really high, create a percussive little beat, then crank up the regen really fast to hold the percussive beat, THEN slowly shift the delay down until it hits feeback and shift it back up right at that point. You get a really wacky tone by doing that. If you haven't figured out how to do it, you should try it sometime. It's wild : )
Yup,you just find the right amount of delay you like and leave it at that. The first chords of good times bad times by Led Zeppelin is a good amount for soloing and standard playing.U aint guna be sitting in the dirt twisting the knobs like Gilmour in Pink Floyd Pompeii video I don't think lol. You'll love having any good analog delay :)
so i got the distortion 3 coming in the mail and i already have a carbon copy, do you suggest i put the distortion 3 infront of the delay in my chain or behind?
i have a blue box behind the carbon copy as well as a boss chorus
@evilvon i have most of those pedals, and what i found with them is, is that, the blue box should usually go first, then chorus, then, i think it should be your decission where the cc and the dist 3 go, cus, if you but the dist 3 infront of the cc, you'll get a normal delay sound, but, if you but the cc before dist 3, the repeats will be distorted, which sounds very cool, in a Mars Volta way. So, play around with the signal chain, theres no right order.
Hey could you give me the measurements of the Carbon Copy please? I have been looking at getting one but I need the measurements of size to see if it fits on Board? Thanks
idk the jimi hendrix one is great but un less you havea full tube amp the the wammy pedal does not soud all great when your playing chords i know from experiance
TIP: big companys such as Boss doesn't make the best pedals :) and please! no 15 yr old kids making any stupid comments like the DD-7 is the best delay ever!! your talking to a guitar player here :) you can get delays that dont cost a bomb but are superior
I guess if your happy with digital effects that sound abit thin? then your ok? but I prefer analog. I don't hate all digital though and if you were to ask me what is the best Boss digital pedal? id say the DIgital Space D (DC-3) that is no longer made, As for the loop type pedals, I don't use them so I can't give an opinion on those :)
Play some real pedals and use a good ear. I have spent $250 on a pedal and I would easily spend more if it meant better tone. If you like them then go ahead and use them. But don't expect great tone.
It's an inside joke. I use it to separate myself from the drop d addicts at my school. I'm not implying anything or trying to think highly of myself. Honestly, I think I suck. And good job getting attention by attacking my screen name. How bad are you? And you have bad spelling and grammar.
i admit i aint good, and i dont really like drop D, i got mine set to standard and my other in C#. and about my grammer, i was on my playstation. but now i see, so i formally apologize as best i could. my bad
@ realguitarist... i've got some pretty nice pedals myself, but tone's in your hands. You can get some great tones out of a Boss pedal if you know how to hold your baby right. It's a heck of a lot easier to get it out of nicer pedals. That's for dang sure. But it all boils down to your hands.
Well I am well aware of what my hands are doing. But lets say what if we handed Eric Johnson a Digitech RP pedal. Would it sound as good as his rig? Even with his hands?
Yeah, I get what your saying, but I think that we're comparing apples and oranges. The Digitech is crap. The MXR is not. It doesn't cost alot, but it's still quality. If you put something like the MXR in his rig, I think that he'd sound just as good to 99% of the people out there. I'm sure not to him, cuz he's a tone freak. But for most everybody else... yeah. Just as good.
Although MXR does some some really nice pedals out on the market, I honestly don't dig the Carbon Copy too much. Either it has too much delay or too little. And it sounds too warm. But that's just in my ears. It works well for some other things though. I recently bought an Electro Harmonix Memory Toy and I find better use of it. Oh and it's only 80 bucks. It has a bit more clarity to it. Just something to check out if you have the time. And yeah, Eric Johnson is truly a tone freak.
Yeah, I can respect that. I really love the warm sound. That's why I picked it over something like the DD-20 that's got 8000 different settings that you can play with. I'm looking to pair another delay with my CC, so I'll go check out the EHX. Thanks for the heads up.
I've got one of the carbon copies that I got right after they came out. I flat love it. It is exactly the sound I was going for. I instantly channel david gilmour when its on.
I've tried out a Whammy before, and it really doesn't sound that great (for my purposes at least). It's monophonic (can only octave one note at a time) so you can't use chords with it. I much prefer the Electro Harmonix POG.
Agree on Boss, but digitech's Whammy, JamMan, Timebender, and HarmonyMan are incredible but expensive-ish. I own a Digitech Bad Monkey, It beats a TS9 or TS808 by a LONG run because it's a ts9 clone with a Bass control. All other digitech sucks though.
wow I cant believe people need to ask how much better the carbon copy is than the memory man, guitar worlds reviews gave it no cons in their review - thats really not common.
I'm not donnerbox (obviously), but I've got a reissue Distortion + and a Distortion III. I prefer the III because it has a much sweeter midrange and better low end response. It seems to have a bit less gain, but I just combine mine with a light overdrive (a BBE Green Screamer) when I need more gain. They sound great together. The Distortion III is an awesome pedal.
omg whats wrong with my eyes!! the distortion III is pink!!!

if you have an efx loop on your amp put the delay through there and leave the dist in the front of your amp

Do you say the RC50 is not the best loop station ?
There will always be a best, it just change in function of the musician.
I had a Nova Delay by TC electronics, and I had a best sound with a Boss GT8 multi effects.

The type of amp you use will affect the sound of any pedal you run into it.
