I am eating raw ROSE HONEY M! it's my first day raw...3-4 days I did raw but had tea so they weren't raw days. I know what u mean about the social hardships but ur other half wants to do it too so i say u have not that xcuse ;)
Dehydrators are great to have but they're by no means essential. You could try Debbie Took's rawforlife blog which has a step by step recipe for essene bread that just needs a food processor. There's all sorts of great raw food out there to enjoy :-)
Yes I love dehydrated food as well myself---- while dehydrating is NOT cooking, it IS OXIDIZING--- which is what cooking is also essentially. SO, for the best best raw regiment small doeses of dehydrating in a diet are best.. What Iam talking about here I have basically only heard referenced in David Wolfe's "Sunfood Diet....". Anthony, your awesome. Ive been a 100% raw fooder for 2 years , 85% prolly 20 years before that. I only found your blogs last saturday night... totally awesome !!!!
Thank you so much! I agree about the dehydrator and oxidizing. I guess we do what we can :-) How amazing to have been 85%/100% raw for so long. That's an inspiration in itself :-)
you my friend are 'the inspiration".. it is very interesting for me to see your very generous blogs with your personal life and to see someone who lives "the raw life" in a very different world than mine: I live in a rural mile high mountain small town in Southern California. In terms of the beautiful nature that is here (where I live) which walks hand in hand with the "raw spirit" that is great.. but MOST raw fooders live in the cities, so my ability to network with others is feeble at best
Oh wow, I am going to your site to find some of those yummy bread recipes. That onion break looks divine. I have a round deydrator, but actually used my oven on a low setting this weekend to make some almond sesame crackers that turned out really nicely.
Your chocolate pie looks delicious. I haven't ventured into chocolate yet. But I better get busy! How is your coffee weaning going? much love...bunny!
Hi Bunny - The sesame crackers sound great. I guess you could make individual portions of the breads in the round dehydrator. Why not?
My coffee is now green tea. I particularly like Genmaicha - it's got roasted rice in it so it's a little bit naughty. Talk about living on the edge :-)
Hi! Yes, the mulberries are gorgeous dark red blackberry. They are either very tart or very sweet depending on when you pick them. Thanks for answering about the bread!
Congratulations on your journey so far. I am wondering how important having all the gadgets (dehydrator, Vitamix, juicer) is to being raw? Do you think you could live without them? Anyway, my fasting has been delayed even further, I have to have a small dental surgery tomorrow and my hubby, the dentist, refuses to do it if I am fasting. Apparently you have to have sugar in your system or the anesthetic will lower your b.p. too much. I will be joining you the day after, I can't wait.
Thanks :-) I suspect it's a typical male trait to buy all the gadgets. You cd get away with very little. I'd start with a good blender if I were you. That would enable you to make smoothies and nut/seed pates. Then maybe a dehydrator if you think you'll miss breads and crackers etc. Many raw foodists don't have lots of equipment. Best of luck beginning with the dental work and with the beginning of your fast! Antony
Oh...yum. Chocolate. I just made a raw mulberry pie from my tree. Do you have them there? How do you keep your bread? I make Matts bread to fill many trees for but don't know how to store them. Any tips? How long does your bread last?
Hello :-) I just googled mulberry trees and saw a picture of the fruit. No, we don't have them here. The picture of the fruit I saw looks like a giant juicy blackberry! I just keep my bread in airtight containers on the cupboard and they last quite a few days - I don't usually make so much at once so it's usually eaten long before it's a problem. That said, it looks like we're going to be eating lots of bread this week. I don't usually make so much all at once! Oh well :-)
I agree with you 100% Antony. You can never have enough chocolate in your life...LOL I have a little bit everyday. It keeps me happy! Matt Amsden's bread looks fantastic. I have his book and I always wanted to make it but never got a dehydrator in the end. Maybe one day. Even though I'm not raw, it would be great to make my own fruit leathers and raw dishes that I still enjoy :)
The bread looks so pretty. You are doing such a great job. Keep it up.

when sprouting do you refridgerate it or leave it at room temp. I would be afraid it would sour

@meow98 i think room temp is the way to go - just be careful of timings

You look great! I totally support your raw food for one year, that's great! I am glad you still support people like me who are no longer raw.
