@vagabond and anyone on the subject of the coyote's vs. GS... If it were wild coyotes on open terrain they would challenge the dog as a pair and try killing it. Coyotes are cunning and opertunistic animals
@ImSoOffended Most of the wildlife you see in wildlife documentaries are trained animals like these. They can be trained to act aggressive just like you can train a dog to growl, show it's teeth, bark. My educational skunk is trained to poof his tail, stomp his feet and pretend to spray. It's all an act.
We rescued a german shepherd in TX.... we currently had a full breed GS at home. Now that she is 4, we are trying to compare/contrast her to our dog. We just have this strange feeling she is part coyote. Can anyone help us out?? How can we know for sure??
@robbiesbabygirl2001 A coydog which is half coyote, half GS will be tiny bit bigger than coyote. The eye color will be very close to coyote, i.e. golden. The top of their head with feel more pointed than flat. The muzzle will be longer, pointier, teeth and claws sharper. They will be more skittish than a regular dog and have a fluffier tail like a coyote.
Also, my coydog, husky Aussie mix, and golden retriever have never been attacked by the wild coyotes living in my backyard. They have actually interacted.
As I was reading the description, I noticed you said wild coyotes are not pets. Well, no shit, do you honestly think someone is going to take one out of the wild and try to train it? No. People can get them from breeders, and they make great pets, as do hybrids.
they're so pretty! they remind me of my pet coyote i had when i was little! In the state i live in, it's not illegal to have wild animals as ur pets as long as you don't lock them in cages or put them in a fenced in yard. well, we didn't have Rocky in either one and the conservationist made us give him up and we didn't realize til later that he was wrong and long story short... Rocky found his way home eventually... by then he was wild and tried to eat our chickens... :)

That shepherd is just thinking to himself "Mom must be crazy putting me in here and telling me not to kill these things..."

@ItalianKenzo658 These coyotes are used in the movies. They are trained, can walk on a leash, sit on a mark, be pet.

Aww, the German Shepherd is about twice the size of the coyotes, but they could totally take him on.
vagabondesque 10 months ago
@vagabondesque The coyotes weigh 30-35 lbs. The dog weighs 80 lbs. Coyotes could kill tiny toy dogs but they are no match for a big dog.
MaryCummins 10 months ago
@vagabondesque A big Dog would destroy a Coyote a Wolf however could kill a Big Dog.
