how to NOT make a cat scared of a dog. buy a dog, let the dog get a couple of years then buy a cat that is just a couple of weeks old (the cat WILL think that the dog is its mom/dad so it wont be scared of it) and there you go, one happy fammely. ^_^

and when i say a couple of weeks, i mean like 5 or 6 weeks. i got my cat after it lost its mom so it had time to get used to it. and sory if i wrote something wrong, im not so good in english, im from sweden.

cats and dogs can get on great if they are brought up TOGETHER or if the cat is first in. an adult cat will make short work of any puppy and then the adult dog will have respect for cat even when it gets a lot bigger. although cats are a lot smaller than dogs they do have some big advantages, they can move fast, they are brilliant climbers and they have sharp claws. If the Kitty has some Tiger relatives I think the dog may well decide to leave well alone.

yes the dog was being playfull, and yes the kitten was scared and in a defensive mode, but this is not the correct way to introduce these animals if that was the intention (highly doubtful). the video is not 'cute' or 'sweet' just dumb like the people who made it. i've worked at a dog/cat shelter for years and would never wish any of them to go to a discustingly dirty place like that! i feel ashamed knowing this video got an extra viewed number from me.

@Libby7 except for the fact that tanks arent known for playing with kids, whereas a dog is. and as other people stated numerous times, the action of the dog shows he wants to play and has no intentions of hurting the kitten. however, the kitten sees it as aggression due to the dogs body language. when a dogs gets low like that, it wants to jump and have fun, where as when a cat gets low, its ready to pounce and attack.

I babysat my aunt's ridiculously energetic rottie puppy this summer, and the first time it played like that with me, I was terrified and blockaded myself on the stairs. I haven't ever spent much time around dogs, so I thought he was going to attack me. I can understand how people who haven't spent a lot of time around dogs are upset, but the dog really is just playing.

Something similar happened between my moms 5 lb cat and my 120 lb rottweiler. Now this rotti was not the nicest when it can to the cats so we kept them separate. Then one day (when the dog was about 7 or 8) he some how got into the house and ended up being cornered by the cat who wouldn't let him go anywhere. when i came into the room my dog was looking at like "wtf, what am i supposed to do with this freaky little thing?" it was sooo funny!!

If the kitten was scared it would have taken off. I have a dog, who tries to get on the roof to get my cat. If you read the dogs body language, he wasnt trying to "kill the cat" or "bite the cats head off". Hence the fact that the dog kept laying down, and its bark wasnt more aggressive.
