  • Nice rendition of Bachs classic, That has to be Josh Grobin's lovely Baratone voice.

  • I do wish he'd done the second verse...

  • I do not think the Christian story is meant to be taken literally at all. I do not think it's all that important whether or not the Nazarene really existed.

I think the important thing to remember here is this: does this story introduce me and all who encounter it to Mystery? Does it lead me into the realm of Mysterium Tremendum Et Fascinans? Does it encourage me to see, as deeply as possible, Divine Light in all?

If so, then it's all good.

  • That is simply untrue. There is explicit direction in the Gospel accounts to take the accounts literally.

Jesus is the source of Divine Light for the redeemed. It makes a tremendous difference whether He exists or not. If the Son of God did not come down to save His Beloved, then we are still in the dark, doomed with no hope to joy, love, and the fullest relationship with God and mankind. It is out of Jesus' Love for us First that He becomes our Joy and Desire.

  • five

    million

    stars

  • I love this music, the scenery is stunning.

  • <333333333333333333333333333

  • this is so beautiful.

  • Communism only works without ANY corruption, so it is never going to work-man is too easily corrupted

  • Excellent!!! Well Done- Cheers! [lets stick the movie shall we?!]

  • communism isn't really all that bad

  • um, communism doesn't work....

  • Beautiful... Though, I think the vibrato on the violin was too fast for the lyrical quality of the piece but it also gives it a more...contemporary sound. All in all, it remains on of the BEST of Bach's works...Just makes you feel like Christmas all over xD

  • Thanks for this. Feel a whole lot better.

  • Beautiful song.

  • Very very beautiful!! Love Josh Groban, such a deep powerful inspiring voice to a special favorite musical of mine!! Thanks for posting! National Sunday Law by A. Jan Marcussen is a must read for anyone out there...

  • I don't believe that there is a God or anything, but I do believe that there are many things that are out of our control and that we can't explain. Scientists may say that it is because they just don't know enough about the world yet, but I think that there are many things in life that will forever go unanswered.

By the way - I love this song!!! My Dad played it in the car once and now I can't get it out of my head!!

  • OMFG

is everyone in america a retard?!

christianity is a bunch of bullshit that ppl use so that they don't have to think about what is right and wrong

the whole religion is so fucked up and it has only caused bad in our world

  • That was uncalled for. If you're not going to politely give your opinion, then keep it to yourself.

  • Yes they are. Most of them refuse to accept evolution.

  • I don't know about "most".

But many do and with good reasons, and that is not limited to Christians.

Evolution (Macro-evolution~from one species to another) is not scientific in the strictest sense and has been imposed by bureaucratic authority despite overwhelming indications against it. There is no explicit evidence for it. It is a very flawed theory. Don't be fooled like the bewildered, easily manipulated mass. Go search and see for yourself.

  • >coopster135

Your racist sound like the sound of Communist!

Do you know why? Most Communist members always use the language of goons & thugs!. Because Communist's society & education are very poor of morality & unethical thinking!. They are extremely racist! They are soo poor in spirit life! That's why most of Communists thinking & behaviour such as goons & thugs! They are brainwashed to be against all religions! I am so sorry for them!

  • Well, actually, education in communist regime is very good. You are not going to get good grades just for "trying", you actually have to be smart to finish school in communist countries. So yeah, people that finish their education in communist countries are much more knowledgeable. I finished only 3 grades in communist regime and the knowledge that I have acquired put me through American high school no prob. I slapped through classes and got a GPA of 3.6. So yeah, here is democracy for ya :)

  • >coopster135

Commnunism has only caused very bad in our world! Communist members are cancer of the world!

  • Do you even know English? Sounds like caveman talk... But anyways, do your research first before saying something stupid. No political ideology is perfect and it all has flaws, just some ideologies fit better with one country and doesn't fit with other. Before trashing something that you have no clue about, please, read. And yeah, the song is great.

  • >ucTepuka (1)

I have not only researched, but I had REAL EXPERIENCE when I lived many years under the Communist regime! The DICTATOR COMMUNIST regime is cruel! Communist government never respect freedom & human rights! Because Communists are dictators; therefore, all Communist countries are only 1 Communist party, so that they are easily to practice dictator rule!

  • >ucTepuka (2)

All human are equal, there are no human in some countries are less value then human in other countries; therefore, all human should have equal rights of freedom & human rights!

Yes, no political theory is perfect; however, the worst government is the dictator government, which never respect freedom & human rights! Many Communist regimes already collapsed! There are only a few brainwashed people still dreaming a Communist heaven, which never exist, you are one of them!

  • this is so unbelievably beautiful!

  • Carriefan1985, thank you for telling me the artist that sings this version of Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring.

  • Does anyone know who is the composer/singer/artist who performed t his rendition of Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring?

  • The artist singing this version is Josh Groban.

  • this song is so amazing. it makes me want to play violin

  • Awesome! Beautiful! Thanks!!

  • beautiful ^_^

  • Beautiful music, and Josh Groban's voice is complimentary to this classic praise song.

  • Josh Grobin?

  • Yes, why?

  • I love Josh Grobin--his sound is miraculous! Thank you for this wonderful arrangement.

  • This is a lovely video and song!! You've done a very fine job! I think that people should stop arguing about theology and just ENJOY the video!

  • Beautiful video!

  • Jesus, You bring light to my darkest hour, I love you with all of my heart, please forgive me my sins which have crucified You and spilled Your innocent blood.

  • Ah yes, Bach. The master of fugue and composer of some of the greatest musical treasures of the Church. This piece is a monument to our faith!

  • It IS indeed a beautiful piece of music. But it proves NOTHING about your faith. The Parthenon is a beautiful building, but it does not prove that the goddess Athena Parthenos existed. And the Egyptian mask of Tutankamen is a beautiful piece of goldwork, but the corpse under it is just as dead as you and I will be when we go. So enjoy the music but don't try to use it to "prove" your irrational belief (that is what faith is, after all.)

  • how is your blasting someone saying this attests to his faith better than him saying it? music is interpretive, let it go.

  • thats not what faith is at all. faith is a VERY rational thing.

  • If someone has a rational scientific proof that there is a God, I have yet to see it. Sorry, but faith is precisely that: belief without proof.

  • thats what God is about my friend...faith! u must be born into faith! the proof is all around you!

  • People believe in god because there bored with there own lifes and need to fill a void thats need filling. If you look back in the day. In the 1600's all they did was work. No sports or activities. So they believed in god to fill a void. God is less common now because there is more to fill the void now. Does that make sence? And Im not saying it wrong to believe in god by the way.

  • For one to demand a "scientific proof that there is a God" is a form of begging the question. Science is limited to describing that with pertains to the physical senses, while God by definition trancends the material world. The assertion is no more rational than saying that "fire is wet", it simply does not apply.

Actually there is no proof for the existence of the material world, that it is not just your perceptions confined to exist only in your mind. It is assumed (by faith) to exist.

  • I agree with you man! Well said!

  • im still amazed even if i played this for my recital years ago...

it's such a great piece from one of my idolized compozers...

  • Absolutly AMAZING his greatest compostion i play this on my grand steam organ, at my church its HUGE one of the oldest largest in the world Bach is without a doubt thew greatest organist the world has ever seen.

  • I love this piece. My almost 92 year old mom and I listen to this song often. Thanks for sharing it!

  • for popular idiot, i just thought of this:

Dear Lord, I thank thee for thy beautiful composition by Bach, and the Spiritual message it giveth us all. Thank thee, Lord; in Jesus's name, Amen!

  • a truly wonderful piece of music beautifully interpreted.

sad to see that religious bigots have hijacked the comments section

  • Dear Lord, I thank you for this beautiful composition by Bach, and the spiritual message it gives us all. Thank you Lord; in Jesus' name, Amen!

  • This songs fill my heart with joy every time my choir sings it and now seeing it with a beautiful scenery it really moved me to tears...well done

  • excelent travail!!!!!!!!

  • This video is so spiritually uplifting. The lovely montage serves to attune the ear to the singer's inspiring rendition of Bach's work. Thank you for posting this video.

  • Beautiful, beautiful photos!

  • This song was so beautiful, one of my favorites.

  • I love this song! It's so beautiful. Nice pics too

  • as a person who is not religious at all, i find myself offended by some of the comments posted by those who believe that they must make their (sometimes ugly) thoughts on christianity known. can you not just appreciate beautiful music? leave religion out of it- not all people hold the same veiwpoints.

  • just for clarification, i do not find religion at all offensive, just those who feel that they must disparage other's beliefs, whatever they may be.

  • oh grow up. this song IS about Jesus Christ after all. we don't mean to "offend" you, so if you are, you're overly sensitive -- get over it.

  • I am not offended, if you are referring to my comment. I am simply pointing out that the line that it is a "monument to our faith" is irrational. It would be like saying that the Pyramids are a "monument to faith in the Sun God Ra". It is a beautiful piece of music. But it proves NOTHING about the existence of God or Jesus.

  • You're right. It doesn't proof anything. But the things around us do raise the question how all things have come to existence, and more, what is the purpose of our lives? and why do we exist? If you believe in God who created this world with all his amazing aspects than you'll also experience his majesty in a lot of things that surround us. But it all starts with having faith.

  • So and who created god?

  • No one...why should God be created? He's allmighty and He always existed. He has no beginning and no end.

  • So I believe in an uncreated universe made up of matter that has always existed. You believe in a God that has always existed who made the Universe. Now, I have no problem showing that matter exists. You are looking at it right now as you read this. The universe is right here around us. What proof do you have that God exists?

  • First of all the fact that matter always existed is nowhere denied in the Bible, and I also believe to some extent in evolution. You should read the book by Francis s. Collins, called: the language of God. But there is about just that much proof for the existence of earth by a big bang, as there is for Intelligent design ore moreover the existence of God as proposed by the Bible. You can't provide a anwser to the main questions in live saying matter always existed.

  • Faith is believing things without proof or evidence, right? Normally, people who believe incredible things without anything to back them up are called "stupid" or "delusional". The clever thing about religion is that they have made believing things for which there is no proof from a defect into a supposed virtue. You say "Faith" and I am supposed to "respect" your belief in talking snakes, Gods who send their sons on suicide missions, and world floods that never happened??? Sorry, no more!

  • I can't proof the existence of God by science, thank God for that, otherwise it would be a limited God. A comparison:how would you describe the phenomenon of a breeze if you didn't saw ore heard the external effects that occur. You can't see God in a direct way, but I truely believe that you can see the existence of God all around us. And by following His will, I realised that the Christian religion provides an anwser to all aspects of our live.

  • A breeze can be recorded, detected, measured may ways. Your God is a figment of your imagination. You have every right to believe in fantasies if it makes you feel good, though. Some people use astrology, or alcohol. Two thousand years ago people believed in Osiris, Jupiter, Zeus, etc., and it made them feel good. But of course, you don't believe in Osiris or Jupiter, do you? Neither do I. you see, we are BOTH atheists where most gods are concerned. You just believe in one more than I do.

  • So can God, the only difference is that it isn't measured in a scientific way. But I hope you also believe that there's a lot that goes beyond our reasoning. And there's a significant difference between the Christian faith and all other faiths. I'm curious, what provides you from an anwser to the main questions in live, such as: Why are we here? What is the purpose of our existence?

  • This song is great, our orchestra is playing it and it's really fun to play!

  • The first time I heard it in Warwick I fell in love with it - amazing!

  • Very well done - this song always brings tears to my eyes. I can't wait for the time when we see Jesu, the Joy of man's desiring. :)

  • I'm curious - if you're that opposed to believing in Jesus, why you watched this video. Perhaps to leave behind some nasty statements? My belief in Jesus is stronger than that it can be shaken by a random person's passing comments. The day is coming when we will all see Jesus, and then there will be no unbelievers. Until then!

  • The Jewish people must accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour

  • you will see Him again, as all will, on the day of judgement, I pray that you know the truth before then my friend

  • amen to that my friend, all mankind is lost without Him, may He forgive our sins which have crucified Him

  • u bastard. i will pray for you, since you obviously need it.

  • I love You Jesus

  • 2. part:

Through the way where hope is guiding,

    Hark, what peaceful music rings!

Where the flock, in Thee confiding,

Drink of joy from deathless springs.

    Theirs is beauty's fairest pleasure;

    Theirs is wisdom's holiest treasure.

Thou dost ever lead Thine own

In the love of joys unknown.

  • English translation (from wikipedia):

    Jesu, joy of man's desiring,

    Holy Wisdom, Love most bright;

Drawn by Thee, our souls, aspiring,

    Soar to uncreated light.

Word of God, our flesh that fashion'd,

With the fire of life impassion'd,

    Striving still to truth unknown,

    Soaring, dying, round Thy throne.

  • Thanks for the translation...

  • beautiful music and video! :)

  • this is cooler than hillary clinton

  • Funny.

  • lol nice one

  • Five Stars for a brilliant video and song.

  • this is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i ever heard

  • I love this song. It's used several times in the Rev 21:7 evidence DVDs. Nice work on the video. -GTT

  • WOW!!! This was beautiful!!!!

The video and the music that is......

  • It sure was!

  • I love classical music, and I think that Josh Groban sings fantastic.

    Thanks for uploading.

  • Hitler was a Christian.

  • no he wasnt he was a pagan, he hated Christianity because its parent religion is judaism, the one religion he did admire was islam because it spread by violence, so CHECK YOUR FACTS, 'ciao'

  • go to hell dupapa33

  • Death will be yours

  • Muslims arent racist. Not like so called wannabe Christians.

  • Christians are criminals. Look at the facts: Colonisation, the Dark Ages, the Inquisition, the Crusades, the Enslavement of the Beautiful Black Race, the Murder of Native Americans, the forced Converting of other Non-Christian Cultures, the Killing of the Native Inhabitants of Australia, the extermination of the Beautiful Cultures of the Mayas and Inkas and Aztecs...etc. and last but not least the Christian Aggressive Culture as the reason for the existence of a Third World.

  • Centuries before the arrival of Europeans, the Mayas had declined steeply but are not extinct today. Slavery has pervaded this planet for many centuries, but if there'd ever been an antislavery movement before American and English Christians' movement in the 19th century, I do not know of it. Over lunch six years ago, a Native American told me "We lost the war; let's get on with it." The U.S. fought a bloody war to free black slaves. Christianity caused the Dark Ages? They are a myth, anyway.

  • death will come to you dupapa

  • And there is no evil... just ignorance. Wich leads to war and conflits in general.

  • So...? Let them be antichrist. I'm pretty sure Jesus is not offended by them.

  • LOL! So if you are a medical doctor why are you arguing with people on youtube man? Get a life...

  • I didnt start this, I am a Christian and watched this video to listen to a beautiful piece of music about the Lord Jesus, not to argue, but only to find insulting and blasphemous comments by muslim hypocrites.

  • Celtic you are a freak... If you were educated you would come to understand that the Muslims are a peaceful religion up until they were faced with helplessness and because of this the extremists commit suicide and give the rest a bad name. You, or anyone else cannot know anything about any God until we die. All holy books were written by man, not gods!

  • read the koran and hadith, you will see that islam is far from peaceful, they believe that all non muslims are vermin which can be killed by them if they so wish-muhamHAD was a complete terrorist, so al qaeda and bin laden have not hijacked a peaceful faith, they are merely mimicking the actions of its founder SO YOU AND THE MUSLIMS ARE THE FREAKS-they have the nerve to post insulting comments on this video, yet the same hypocrites are outraged over CARTOONS of their false prophet

  • oh and by the way, I am educated, I am a medical doctor and am well read-including the koran-that i how I know that islam is evil, you see I make decisions for myself having analysed the facts, so get your facts straight next time before you accuse people

  • oh and by the way, I am educated, I am a medical doctor and am well read-including the koran-that i how I know that islam is evil, you see I make decisions for myself having analysed the facts, so get your facts straight next time before you accuse people

  • I love this.Excelence.

    Peaceful mind is universally.

  • this is wonderful

  • I think this is the version from the celtic women, but sung with a man. Never the less this is amazing

  • lol what the hell are you talking about? stupid nerd this is a beautifull song who cares about the lirics? but now u r the 1 that not respects one...ok this is for you ''Mahoma didnt blow himself cuz he didnt had tnt but i bet that he was desiring to blow away a market...or some ''infidels''hahaha bye

  • lol...Gotta love the ignorance of the muslim people.

  • It's good time to stop the hatred.

  • the hatred will only stop when islam is eradicated-it is the cult of the antichrist-Dear Lord Jesus please forgive the muslims and may they come to know the truth amen

  • i think you will find it was your evil false prophet muHAMmad who was the sinner-paedophilia, rape, slave trading, murder yep, its all there in the hadith and the book of satan aka allah, the koran

  • If I said Muhammad had beheaded at least 600 captives at Banu Qurayzah, would you be offended? I hope not, because it's true. But you here make wholly unsubstantiated assertions about Jesus, whom Muslims are to revere. Slavery has darkened history almost everywhere since humanity first appeared on this planet, but if there was ever an antislavery movement before white Christians invented one in England and the United States in the nineteenth century, I do not know of it. What is your program?

  • This is a very beautiful video that showcases the grandeur and glory of God. Great work! It's also convinced me to get Josh Groban's cd with this song on it.

  • Nice production...an appreciation of all things good. I have to wonder where the insults and slams are coming from....probably HELLFLOOR. -GTT

  • This IS the hymne of the Church! This beautiful expression was our wedding march and will be played when we are called to Him.

  • I love this video and music! My mom who is ninety-one and sick listened to it today over the telephone and I know it uplifted her. Thanks again for sharing this Heaven -sent "gift"!

  • oh gosh'...is that what you belive in...good luck then to you...

  • This is a perfect piece!

  • Thank you

  • Thats no answer about the things i said, its something new. I like people like u who insult people they dont know. -"serious buisness"

  • Great, this one is English. Lovely!

  • manly yet lovely version , thank you

  • bach..un cabrón, sin más..

  • Idiot

  • Firstly, let me say that as Jesus was not mentioned in your first post so why did you think I was refering to Him? Secondly, the adjective 'disgusting' means 'extremely unpleasant or unacceptable' which is hardly appropriate for this video however much you dislike the production. And last but not least, you are still an idiot......

  • you are a moron, personally im not religious, im agnostic, and we are free to say what we want, but think before to right some stupidity please.

  • Just beautiful!

  • What a stunningly beautiful montage. This natural beauty is God's gift to us - heaven on earth. And, a voice that brings so much joy. Something that we should take time out to celebrate and enjoy regularly. Thanks for posting the video.

  • Well put.

  • In his heavenly position as King of God's Kingdom he will bring about his Father's purpose to establish a paradise Earth.

  • Are you celebrating nature?

    or the Saviour of Man?

    Where is Christ?

    Still, it is nicely done.

  • He's celebrating God I think. God the Son and God the Creator. I'm feeling God the Holy Spirit by watching it.

  • chillbumps.....

  • Lovely pictures and Josh Groban's singing is great. It has soul.

  • Then don't listen to it.

  • haha very well said :)

  • OMG my school band it playing this song and WE DONT DO THIS SONG ANY JUSTICE! omg..... this is such a beautiful song and now i understand why my music teacher is so ticked that we cant play it...ITS SO PRETTY!

    ahah now im REALLY NERVOUS

  • The musical accents are hard though. We sang this for Advent and ticked off the choir director. ^_^

  • No score is high enough

  • A thing of beauty

    A joy forever

    K

  • Beautiful song and a excelent voice.

  • Did you know Kyle McLaughlin (Blue Velvet) is a direct descendant of Bach. Christianity is notable for beauty, Islam is notable for horror.

  • Yes, like when back in the day the Spanish Inquisition used to burn and boil people in oil alive for heresy, that was soooo beautiful! Srsly you're either stupid or a troll or both. :D

  • I'm sure that Mr. Wilson (if he will excuse my presumption) did not mean that Christian history is blameless. But deviations from the beauty he alludes to have, while ugly indeed, been relatively short lived. They have been, because Christendom (now the West) has deeply understood the wrongs it has done. Today, though, Muslims, when not denying them altogether, try to cover ugly Muslim deeds, of both history and news, with words. Islam is a denial-filled, grievance-driven civilization.

  • I totally agree with you.

  • islam is the cult of the antichrist, because the false prophet muHAMmad denied the divinity of our Lord Jesus

  • Both. :¬D

  • thank you this was beautiful

    Peace and Love

  • Beautiful & high quality scenes and the music is fantastic!

I put on full screen and just let my spirit soar! Thanks so much.

  • "Jesu" and militant Islam are features of life on this planet. The combination is of interest to me (and you, too). Raising Pat Buchanan is not responsive to my comment. Bush? Not a bright man, but not evil, either. Any free mind knowing the history of Islam cannot escape grasping its evil. Not to think so dishonors many millions who've given their lives for victimless crimes. Islam brings terrorism into a beautiful and historic civilization, Bach's. Your tone is callow. I wish to fool no one.

  • Exactly right my friend...but we in the West have been so deadened by moral relativism and moral equivication, that we cannot recognize plain evil and plain good!!

See the response below to you comparing brutal islam with Christ!! Incredible isn't it! It's like comparing liberal democracy with Nazism...but for the moral relativist, its all the same!!

And when the scimitar has Europa in its firm grip, no more Bach!! No more music...nothing...

  • Firstly, beautiful video and beautiful song.

*For some of the commentors: Wow, I can't believe you really brought negative thoughts about Islam into this. Islam doesnt support terrorism; its just that some terrorist happen to support Islam. There are good n bad people in every faith.

    * Most importantly, this vid should inspire comments about how the human race, and not a religion, is ruining the earth. We should be wondering how we could kill such a

  • You say the dog is wagging the tail rather than vice versa? But when the tail is as big as the dog, who's wagging whom? I've heard the peaceful-Islam disclaimer too many times. Where, then, is Islam? It's not in mutilators of women, bombers, beheaders, stoners, and screamers for rights in Europe that are unknown back home? To those who are embarrassed by Islam's evil, Islam is never where the evil is. We find Islam among those who aren't embarrassed by that evil. Words don't trump deeds.

  • Continued....

beautiful planet within a short span of 200 yrs. I've never been the tree-hugging type but I've learned some of the recently, and I'm scared for us all. Even in America, there're wars over water (of all things to run out of!) and its worse in other places (not by conservation, but exploitation).

So yeah, keep trying to prove that Christianity is more beautiful than Islam because thats going to be SO important when our home dies.

  • And to all of those who think such notes as mine shouldn't be included here, I must reply that you don't yet grasp the depth of the threat that is posed to all you hold dear. I would like to preserve Bach, Bernini, and bagels, Mozart, Michelangelo, and moonshine.
