Wow, I see there's a lot of controversy with these videos. I see why some tarantula keepers are appalled when another tarantula is being fed a live adult mouse. We still don't know esxactly what causes a tarantula to have a wet molt. COuld be bad diet.

yep, golden silk spiders do have venoms (instead of poison) to catch preys on the web.

most of the spider venoms are neurotoxic, which cause paralysis of the "bitten" prey.

i think any venom/drug would not work if it were not administered properly.

according to the entry of "spider bite" in wikipedia,

"The effect of eating spiders is, in general, unknown, and some spiders (such as tarantulas) are sometimes consumed as food" by humans.

THIS is how it happens in nature. Its incredible to see a mantis hunting properly, and in my opinion totally different to the artifical insect fights like the one above.

Only Tarantula's and a few other species hunt with no web, 90% of spider's spend 99% of their life in a web. By the way, this is the smallest banana spider I have seen. Usually they are easily, twice the size of that mantis.
