  • 25 cents for a 7 course turkey dinner!!!!!!!!

  • everybody is dead.

  • Ill bet you that some of those folks eating that free soup and bread had money enough to pay for a meal at a restaurant???

  • mr zero is al capone

  • If you see poverty coming your way, move to the state of Tennessee where the mountains and streams are, do not move to any state like California or Arizona where the mountains are dry and desert. Move to Gruetli Laager, Tennessee, where there are mountains and streams by the thousands upon thousands of acres, and live in the wilderness paradise up here and GET OUT OF THE CITIES WHERE CRIME WILL BE SO RAMPART IN DAYS TO COME.

  • @moseseseseses : good advice. CA is a dump: no jobs, overcrowded, gangs, hot weather, etc.

  • Oh, RSword-those soldiers are only doing what Obama, as their Commander in Chief, tell them to do. Please do not say soldiers have a filth on their hands: they take an oath to uphold their Commander in Chief's bidding as the leader of this country and as their boss. Please place the blame where it lies.

  • Agree. And we haven't learned anything. Such a shame to put great country into shambles again and again.

  • Yes, blame the hippies, of all to point out as the downfall of us all! Certainly they amassed the great wealth needed to obtain power and thus exert control over us all. Another example of the skewed conservative mind...why, yes, vote Republican, so the rich power-broker weasels can then own us all. When they take away Saturday from you, and give you a six-day workweek, don't complain. You can still be a happy. indentured (poor) serf in your idyllic "America,"

  • Depression era America, very sad time.

  • scenes such as these, from the Great Depression never fail to freak me out. It could happen again and maybe sooner than we would like to think. People are so friggin spoiled now. These people were damn grateful for an old tin bowl of soup and a chunk of stale bread. These old films are like driving past a gory car accident....as terrible as it is, you just can't help but stare at it with an odd facination

  • tell ya what, i spend a good deal of time in nyc, and in the past week i've seen at least two or three guys pickin' up cigarette butts from the gutter (not much left after this blizzard). check out the lines at the food banks, here in nyc area, or probably anywhere in the country, and you'll see some hungry and hurting people....never saw lines like this in my 60+ years.

wake up folks, stop watching fox and their bogus news....get out and look at your brothers and sisters who are hurting.

  • Good upload.

  • This Thanksgiving I too received my dinner from a charity. I have been eating at soup kitchens and getting extras at church food pantries. Cigarettes being scavenged off the streets? At $12.00+ a pack, thanks to NYC taxes and a mayor on a mission to impose his morality many people in NYC now do the same. It is a common sight. The Great Depression had nothing on us today except Pres.Roosevelt who created various public safety nets and Pres. Bush & the GOP who tried to remove them.

  • 0:41 Cadillac escalade

  • not too far removed from today, some progress America has made

  • @SFConifer Yeah not too far removed from today, although we don't have breadlines and soup kitchens quite like they did during the 1930s, at least not yet.

The recession is over....yeah, my ass it is!

  • @cha5 It''ll be worse and it'll be for the same reasons then. One would think people mindful of American conflict in foreign regions, etc. and the collapse of the former Soviet Union would resonate a little more with people as examples personal to America and analogous otherwise. Those that don't learn from history are destined to have their lights put out by it. Maybe a few good politicians can steer America clear, but it's certainly not looking good.

  • wow imagine how henry ford must of lived back then he had like 100 million all the over coats and turky dinners he wanted lol

  • the man looking for money for coffee was headed to the liquor store

  • find myself wondering what happened to all these folks. Did they wait it out until WWII where they got factory jobs and life got better for them? Each of them had a story to tell and a life to live every day in one way or another. They went somewhere; did something...hopefully most lived a life past the 1930's.

  • Wow 5 cents in those days has the same purchasing power as 65 cents in 2009 money. So why the hell can't we buy a coffee & three doughnuts for 64 cents today, especially since technology has quadrupled the efficiency of coffee and doughnut making?

Thank the labor unions, folks! They're a big part of the reason you pay $3.50 instead of $0.65 for a coffee and 3 doughnuts at Dunkin' Donuts.

  • @DarthCormac Explain how the labor unions are to blame for the increase in the cost of a doughnut and coffee?

  • Even the beggar on the street got a haircut and wore a suit jacket. What happened to people since then? Filthy hippies ruined people's dignity, me thinks. Now they run Wall Street and continue to screw the world they were born in.

  • @stellalouise1 what hippy destoyed your dignity

  • @stellalouise1 You are so right.

  • @stellalouise1 No they made life more fun, you repressed cow !

  • @0LolaLola For the "unrepressed", trolling is FUN!!

  • Hippies now run Wall Street? Probably. Another double-cross to the middle-class!

  • @stellalouise1 what happened is you ya bitter ol fuck

  • @stellalouise1 Yeah..it's always the "hippies" fault..never the greedy fucking bankers. As for the "hippies" running Wall Street..what fucking planet are you on?.. People like you really haven't got a fucking clue..and that's why you are being screwed.

  • @mooneepondskid I am old enough to know the origial, dyed-in-the-wool 1960's hippies very well, (they are my peer group). I considered myself one briefly, when very young and stupid. You are a clueless, punk wannabe with a foul mouth. The vast majority of CEO's, bankers and Wall Street sharks today are lefties. If you don't know that child, YOU are being screwed. Stop being a blind sheep, parroting your lefty professors and look at the facts for yourself. Work on you vocabulary, too.

  • @stellalouise1 You were 5 years old when the original hippies were around..lol. Do you think you are the only person to know someone who was in their late teens in 1967?.. So if the bankers ,who screw over anyone they can for profit, are the left..who the fuck do you think is on the right?..lol

  • @mooneepondskid I know the original hippies very well, potty mouth. Greed knows no left or right but the unique hypocrisy of that lot and their wannabe followers is noteworthy. They went from spewing hate at their parents while living off of them to treating their country the same. My first concert was Hendrix at the age of 5 and my first movie was Easy Rider. I am the youngest in a large family, you have nothing to teach me about hippies. You probably dont even know your Zeppelin properly.

  • @stellalouise1 There is a big difference between a "hippy" and a "lefty" and most of them wouldn't call themselves either name. You should have stayed a hippy. The drugs probably would've calmed you down more and decreased your drug-using, left-leaning paranoia of live-of-the-landers. Was anyone that the US taxpayers bailed out a hippy, like AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie, Citibank, fill-in-the blank? Read some books, seriously.

  • @MissSilver2011 I would say there is scant difference, if any between a hippy and a lefty. As for AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie, Citybank, etc., - yes, they are all run by lefties now, as is Wall Street. Groovy, eh? My point was the observation of the dramatic change in society post "hippy, baby boomer, lefty" generation. The Depression was ghastly and those people endured it while keeping a modicum of dignity. I admire that.

  • @stellalouise1 except the military industrial complex is to blame for shit society, not hippies. This can be proven.

  • @RSwordIAAA I'm not sure what your focus is on when you say "shit society". I know that people in the military and people who have jobs are required to shower, hince the distinction between them and "dirty hippie". :-)

  • @stellalouise1 Since when does 'people in the military' have anything to do with 'people with jobs'? Cognitive dissonance much buddy? BTW the CIA/military is training libyan rebels the same way they trained the taliban in the 80's right now in the middle east - creating the next "extremist" group for the next war.... war is fake, made up and 9/11 was praised by Israel (now, ask yourself why). Soldiers have a filth on their hands that won't wash off my friend ;)

  • @stellalouise1 i was struck by the same things you mentioned...you know what else happened? drugs. these homeless people don't look like they're crack-heads or heroin junkies.

  • this is OBAMA country

  • i heared nyc in the 50's every1 dressed well, streets clean, ppl are polite, there was respect n more

  • Geez!

if white folks lived this way,

    can you imagine how the

    mooncrickets lived?

  • Slip me five!!!

  • NICE BARBER SHOP!!

  • Representative Ron Paul is fighting to get first audit of Federal Reserve Bank in 50 Years! It's unbelievable that the Federal Reserve Bank which creates our money has no requirement to tell the US citizen about WHAT THERE DOING!

  • Federal Reserve Bank (WHICH IS A PRIVATE BANK) is Responcible for Depression and CURRENT DEPRESSION!

  • Is sad to say that The Great Depression of the 1930s is repeating itself with this damn recession we are in now.

  • i wonder if all this is commin back slowly like now in days ppl are into the 80 then right now slowly goin to the 70's like history repeat it self and who kno the world will end n earth goes back to wen it was born it's like a life repeat

  • dam people were well dressed back then, even the beggers had a whole suit on...

  • stupid comment by a stupid man. you will get yours.

  • SOUP KITCHEN HERE WE COME!!!

  • You idiot, these people were out of work. Educate yourself before you make dumb remarks.

  • "why hide the camera? i live on the bowery and people don't hide cameras. "...This is before television. Cameras were hardly a common place thing and would definitely have been seen as an intrusion.

  • yeah, especially during tough times like the depression.

  • cup of coffee and three doughnuts for a nickel? HELL YEAH!!!!!

  • sebastian: you complete moron, in those days the average wage was $10.00 week.

  • so if i went back in time i'd be like a millionaire?
