There is way too much going on in this show to tell everything in this little post. But basically in 1999 Seele discovered the first angel Adam in the south pole, it exploded and essentially wiped out most of humanity because of it. Now 14 years later Angels are attacking the planet and it falls to children to defend the planet in giant humanoid mechas. If the angels reach Lilith, it'll create a third impact finishing off humanity. There's alot more to it, but that's all the space I have.
