The word is "promotional" and not "propaganda." The Cold War is over. The song is from the 60's, and it is not of "50's innocence." The early 60's were when these type instrumentals came out. The surf bands had to come up with some other sounds to survive. Then, The Beatles arrived and changed music as we knew it. Only The Ventures survived in the U.S. regarding ever having another hit as an instrumental rock band. Theirs was Hawaii 5-O. The Ventures have a great website and new music.
Better than some versions I have heard on here and I play piano. Nice interpretation. Different key and slow rhthym but at least you got them matched up - which is hard, when the original was at about 150 ~ 160 BPS. On the original, notice the keybord player uses F#. This would make the key Bb - without any transposition.
Did you know that some Catholic liturgists added sacred lyrics to it during the heyday of Vatican II reforms to make the mass attractive to youths? What were they thinking? The piece used to be a staple in "combo" parties in the days when a lot of high school classes had a electric guitar and drums band of their own
Thanks nightheat! You can download it from myspace my page is Sintetizador. I think there is also a link to my myspace somewhere on my youtube profile, Thanks again!
This is simply amazing! It is a true stroke of genius how you were able to combine these sterile NASA images and choreograph it to this song in such a way to make it just pulse with emotion. Awesome, just plain awesome.
Great job and a nice video!

Please also check out another new version of Telstar, with a great video to go with. TELSTAR by THE DUELLING PINAOS.

This is brilliant, and it supports my long-held hypothesis that telstar would be very sad if played in a different key

OMG the first ten seconds are interesting but give the rest a pacemaker. TELSTAR was a vibrant exciting piece.

This is one of my all time favorite YouTube videos. Captures the same wonder of outer space as did Kubrik's 2001.

I've heard some of the lyrics. Better to keep it instrumental:) Thanks for listening!!!!!

Not had I been listening to it, I filed it in two of my playlists - Heavenly Bodies and '60s music.

Typo there. I meant "Not only had I been listening to it..." Now I have included it in my sci-fi themes playlist as well.

Beautiful job, Ed. Just wondering, whose version of TELSTAR is on the soundtrack? . . . Mike
telstar4ever 5 years ago
That's just "little ole me" and a few synthesizers. I believe that Telstar is written by Joe Meek but has passed into public domain.
