  • aww geez as far as ik, squid cant change color like that

    this is obviously a cuttlefish

  • Humboldt squid, like many other squid, have the ability to change colour. Special skin cells called chromatophores contain pigment, and the surrounding muscle and nerve cells control the diameter of the pigment sac, making the squid's skin change colour. The Humboldt squid flashes purpley-red to white when it is feeding and when it is dying.

not saying this one is a squid but i found this text on a rainforest education video of a humboldt squid dying. so cool that they can actually do that!

  • Cuttlefish communicate with their skin. I think this one's telling us to f*** off!

  • cool

  • nice!

  • Yeah, that is cuttlefish, not a squid.

Look at the eyes: cuttlefishes have eyes like a W; squids have eyes like O (like our own eyes); octopus have eyes like a - (straight line)

  • lol, I was going to say that.

  • @SottileGioia "They belong to the class Cephalopoda (which also includes squid, octopuses, and nautiluses)" Technically they are squids...
