  • Whos the son of another mother's brother who disliked this video? A racist redneck?!?

  • I wrote a song/made a video about this topic that won a music video contest at the Star Trek convention in Boston this summer. I think it's respectful, and also a little funny, but it gets the idea across. Check it out!

  • Look ppl Dr King was a fan because uhura is fine as hell lmao but seriously in tos she is so sexy!

  • I remember first hearing this story when I was in 2nd grade on the William Shatner’s Star Trek Memories VHS. When we were learning about MLK, I recited the story to my teacher and class. When I finished, my teacher was flabbergasted that someone my age told that story and she and the class gave me a round of applause. It reminded me of Star Trek VI.

  • I love uhura!

  • before there was next generation, i grew up watching TOS episodes over my stepdads shoulder. whats funny is my mom always seemed to be frying chicken whenever it was on, so like, thats what i'm always reminded of. that smell of chicken and the smoke in the air combined with the video haziness of the original episodes with no air-conditioning. Yeah, dude, hell yeah.

  • @LYinKansas everytime she opens her mouth i get dumbounded lol

  • Mr King was right... again.

  • Fantastic story

  • I was amazed the first time i heard this story. Absolutely love her. I'am soo glad that she stayed.

  • Thank You for staying my lady.

  • I originally heard this story on a Star Trek Documentary. I have to say, it gets better every time I hear it :)

  • Dr. King was a Trekkie =D

  • super cool story! Life is beautiful x

  • She always had a great pair of legs.

  • She is wearin so much fuckin jewelry

Anyway that's cool I had no idea MLK even watched an episode of Star Trek

this was a lovely story actually

  • wow, that's pretty amazing, and very meaningful.

  • Gene Rodenberry was a friend to humanity and a true human being.

  • @mattghtpa WOW MOST people do not REALIZE what HE did....... :-)

  • Respond to this video...yes Gene, DR. King, and Miss Nichols, should ALL be MADE SAINTS for how they helped to shape humanity!!!!

  • what a beautifull story.

  • hahaha! Somebody made a phone call i guaranty you that. This was not a coincidence. What i don't understand is why Gene didn't tell her himself what he was "trying to do"...

  • @MustacheVerra

when people think about something and get the right answer it is much more convincing than just telling them.

  • @MustacheVerra Probably didn't want to pressure her into staying, smart man.

  • @MustacheVerra gene tried and failed. but in the end we all SAW. some things you cant be told :)

  • what amazing words from a very astute and amazing man

  • That was a great story. I'm glad Dr. King Jr. encouraged her to stay on the show, not only because I like Star Trek but because she was doing a great job showing people that blacks can be talented and intelligent as well.

  • I thank Dr. King for convincing her to stay on Star Trek; I can't even imagine Star Trek without her.

  • she is beautiful, I hope I age that well.

  • @nassor02 Plastic surgery and professional make up artist assist in that area.

  • She IS Nyota Uhura!!!! Wonderfull lady... I am yr greatest fan... and of Star Trek as a whole!! Live and prosper, Uhura!!!

  • Great story from a wonderful performer.

  • Nichelle Nichols is a great Lady! :-)
