In fact, there are similarities between the themes presented here and the themes in The Magic Flute, as well as the Commendatore scene in Don Giovanni.
I love this movement, it makes me feel a lot of happiness. The climax it's so incredible, it can't be described by words, but when I listen to it I feel the tears of joy in my eyes. I feel it is ahead of its time.
What vigour and muscle is in this performance. I just watched the Harnancourt. The latter is so crude despite some nice nuances in the bittersweet parts. The comment
that this is too slow is odd; this is quite swift.
can anyone tell me the name of a symphony in D major whose theme goes (in fixed do) la8vb la re fa mi re, la la re la8va so fa, re re la re8va do ti la, re8va do ti la, re8va do ti la fa so mi fa re mi do re.
Complex and long... if you take all of the repetitions in the movement, like Harnoncourt does in his recording of the work woth European Chamber orchestra, movement becomes a gigantic piece of almost 20 minutes. Also up to that day its the most dramatic symphonic movement ever written by Mozart (probablay by any composer) which can even be compared with the 1st movement of 41th symphony so called Jupiter.
Yeah, I'd agree. The first movement is obviously the finest symphonic movement of the 18th century, and certainly the equal of Beethoven in the 19th. It's incredibly complex.

Must be very late Bohm. This great conductor could not be bested in Mozart. He conducted a very fine Requiem and Jupiter.

This is the first classical piece I'd ever heard performed in concert. Thanks for providing me with a beautiful trip down memory lane.

I love that recording, personally I feel that the repetition increases the impact of the slight changes towards the end, I love it.
