Actually, I didn't make a statement - just a short series of two questions.
The first, concerning the weight of the new Camaro; the second wondered which generation of Camaro handles best. (Though “handling” can mean different things to different drivers, so they say, my last enquiry ultimately may have no definitive answer.
i love the 82-92 look but real talk the technology nowadays kills.....unless it has alota mods the 92 z28 350 5.7L which is the fastest of the 3rd gens has about 245 hp....while a 5th gen camaro v6 has about 312 hp......thats rediculous but true...if only they could take the 3rd gen look and todays technology..it would be over......done deal

This video is crap and it is obvious that the SS would win hands down. I own an 87 IROC 5.7TPI and it is very slow compared to the new Camaro SS (Even slower than the 6-Spd RS). 225hp vs. 426hp, the outcome is painfully obvious.
It would be easier to watch if the camera were above the dash board the entire time.
I am aware that typically when something interesting happens, it is the first instinct of the cameraman to point the camera down at the ground (dashboard in this case).
@noobsaibat Indeed. But sadly the LS1 is good for 350hp, so when it's 350hp vs 426hp with a P/W ratio of approx 9.4 vs 8.6 - outcome is still obvious. It may appear that the LS1 pulled far ahead of the SS, but look closely and it will become obvious that they are racing on a busy street.

To be honest I couldn't agree more. The one thing I hate is the freakin' smiling grill and the Corvette tail lights. If you're going to create a nostalgic look for an old model, don't incorporate another car into it. I hate Mustangs but the beefy looks of the Cobra's rather grab my attention.

@noobsaibat Indeed. But sadly the LS1 is good for 350hp, so when it's 350hp vs 426hp with a P/W ratio of approx 9.4 vs 8.6 - outcome is still obvious. It may appear that the LS1 pulled far ahead of the SS, but look closely and it will become obvious that they are racing on a busy street.

The only thing I take seriously is what I do or see myself. The short little runs on two lane interstate ramps, the passing battles on country roads, and the few times I actually get out to tracks. If only more people actually took care of their vehicles :(

BTW, I own a 2010 Camaro SS and I know a 3rd gen (even with an LS1) wouldn't beat a new SS. Just look at the 2010 Mustang GT..roughly the same weight and power, and the GT got murdered completely. AHahaha...2010 camaro is nice, but 400 HP doesn't do much for a car that weighs over 4000 lbs. LS1 IROC took on that car like nothing. 3rd gen camaros are among the lightest camaros ever produced. Stick an LS1 in them, you got yourself one of the fastest, best handling cars on the road.

To be honest I couldn't agree more. The one thing I hate is the freakin' smiling grill and the Corvette tail lights. If you're going to create a nostalgic look for an old model, don't incorporate another car into it. I hate Mustangs but the beefy looks of the Cobra's rather grab my attention.
