  • spider fingers - nice one!

  • asian culture is so amazing.. and so mistical

  • hey man, really good video, i was wondering if you have the guitar tabs for this version. thanks a bunch!

  • Very excellent & very impressive!!!

Look forward to seeing your new performance.

  • excellent work! i've been trying to crack this piece for years ... any chance of sharing with a fellow guitarist?

  • i haven't had the time to finish writing it down on paper haha but i do have the older version written by another guitarist about 2 decades (or more?) ago

  • i tried to transcribed yang xue fei's version but only got as far as the tremolo variation. if u need help, i can help you out.

  • i prefer transposing from a more direct source, guzheng or pipa. the Chinese essence is very strong there. yang xue fei's version does not reflect as much but more to the western feel (=

  • @isFuzzy do u have the pipa score ... Is pipa score written in western style format

  • @kbundy023, the pipa score is in number format, the way the Chinese usually use.

  • These are amazing images from the Wild China BBC documentary with the yi dance piece (pipa, gu zheng and erhu)

I hope you'll like it as i loved to make it

great playing by the way, thank you for sharing

  • very beautiful :-)

where can I get the score?

  • 強強強強強,劉德強。哈哈。。 u're so awesome! This piece is my favourite pipa music. I plan to transcript some pipa music to guitar when I'm in a more advanced level. I like asian-styled music played on guitar. It's so fun. Look forward to ur next pipa-to-guitar music!

  • thank you =)

  • dude, you have loooong fingers.. that might help you a lot.. talking about this song... nice performance with lacks but always is place for better :) my honest applauds and keep it up with the nice job.

  • Yea good in playing guitar. I wanted to have slightly long finger but finger doesn't grow any longer

  • chinese van halen...

  • chinese malmsteen...

  • wow! I really enjoyed your performance! =)

I'm amazed actually. Quite creative of you to not only faithfully transpose the pipa score, but also to transfer some of the pipa techniques to the guitar. Just curious, do you play the pipa? cuz some of that tremolo stuff looks hard!

  • yeah frankly i did learn some pipa stuff and of course the piece on pipa too.. it all started one fine day when i was trying to play a phrase of it on the guitar and soon the whole piece..

  • Very good, where do you get the pieces from ...

  • transposed from pipa scores and some alterations. lots of work haha...

  • Can you teach me or tell me some of the important technique u have put in this piece on your guitar .... Are the technique differ than ordinary techniques in guitar

  • much of the techniques have very close relations and even exactly similar to that of playing the pipa. the flamenco style is the reverse compared to guitars'.

  • Is your transcript finalized .. May I ask u to send me the score. I really love your one than the one I found on the internet... Is pipa harder to learn or guitar ...

  • version 5 has alot of changes done to it. the one i have version 4 and its only half. the score has some symbols taken from pipa scripts. pipa is a confusing instrument to start with. the open strings alone are ADEa. the flamenco and 5-finger-tremolo ( continous recuerdos) is the reverse or guitar. but learning pipa really improved my guitar playing...

  • I want to learn how to apply pipa fingering technique in guitar ? Do you know any resource on the net can give me the knowlegde about that.... It is very interesting to know how to play chinese folk songs in guitar.

  • hmm i didnt actually took anything from the net about applying pipa techniques on guitar. it was trial and error. i play in a Chinese Orchestra and through that i have access to a couple of other Chinese instruments. that was where i got my answers. maybe i could find you some links to pipa playing techniques. but frankly pipa techniques are tougher than those of guitars...

  • What is reverse tremolo fingering on ur guitar ... I saw on the net showing p i m a and the last finger... Are u using the same order or the other way round

  • pipa tremolo is flicking instead of plucking. in the order of p i m a & pinky. actually the usual guitar tremolo style can be used but will sound a little empty because only 3 fingers are used instead of all 5.

  • Sorry, to have too much question to ask.. What is pinky? How do u train to have the speed of p i m a chinese tremolo ... I have tried it myself, is very hard....

  • power ah dok!
