It always used to drive me crazy the great Amiga v Atari ST debate. As you can see this is much much worse than the already horrible Amiga version. I like the way the music has to stop for the useless crazy guy telling the time! Such power the ST had!
@gollumondrugs agree amiga vs st debate was pretty silly an early archemidies could do 4.8 mips compared with 1 mips on the st and 0.7 on the amiga (blitter could deliver better scrolling in games to the average st).
most consoles from the turbo grafx could handle sprites better & had some graphical hardware specifications over the amigans "best 2d graphics ever" claim.
just look at the sharp x6800 it could leave every console & computer off the day for dead doing street fighter 2
The Master System did it pretty well. ;) .... The ST verson could/should have been totally better than the SMS version too. (the SMS version avoided sprites almost entirely in favor of manipulating the BG character graphics for choppy movement... the ST easily could have done better and with more color, animation, better music/voice, etc, etc (the voice is pretty good as it is, but misused).
There was no Genesis port... the Genesis only got Afterburner II, the SMS got AB1 though. (and the NES got a more cut-down port of AB1 with superior sound... the NES version of ABII seemed to go a step further with even better sound -and drum+voice samples- and better flicker management)
The music is actually the best thing about this piece of crap. Don't judge the STs capabilities by this game.

This is pretty bad. The hardware just is incapable, and this type of game doesn't lend itself to be downscaled.

Wow, that's truly awful!
At first I hope it's getting better, but as stage 1 started, I buried my hopes!
