FOX needs to do whats right and let vin announce a game in the world series one more time.me being born in 1990, I have never heard his voice on the greatest stage. And the dodgers need to do the right thing and get to a world series before he retires!!!
i swear when vin scully retires ill cry, the iconic "It's time for Dodger baseball!" will no longer be heard. this 2011 season im going to watch every game
When the Padres first started out in 1969, they tried to hire Bob Prince away from the Pirates as their announcer. Prince refused the job saying, "In San Diego you have the ocean to the west, the desert to the east and Vin Scully to the north!!"
I am a die hard Giants fan, when L.A and S.F play i always wanna hear Vin cause he has a talent at what he does and has a lot of class and I hope this guy gets a standing aovation when he decides to leave.
@aaronandaustin123 i wouldnt be suprised (and i think it would be WELL deserved) if he got the loudest and longest standing ovation in dodger stadium history.
The Dodgers will never be the same without Vin Scully! Please say you are not retiring!! There will never be another one like you!!! Vin Scully IS Dodger baseball!!
Vin Scully is the man. Glad he worked for us. Even though it's a movie, my favorite line came from the movie. for the love of the game. "and the catedral that is Yankee Stadium, belongs to a Chapel." he wrote that just for the movie. Not the movie Writters. Awesome.
It isn't Dodger Baseball without Vin Scully. Many Sports Teams are lucky to have Certain Sportscasters Associated with their Team. Dodgers are One of them. Vin Scully is The Voice of The Dodgers. I sure Miss Hearing his Golden Voice now that I no longer live in SoCal.
It is amazing how guys like Dick Enberg, Peter Gammons, Dick Vitale, Al Michaels, and Vin can still have almost boundless enthusiasm for the sports that they cover when they have seen so many events that most people would consider more significant. They have almost unconditional love for what they do.
I hope he stays forever. Honestly, if the world was about to end and Vin annouced it, I could handle it...haha I miss the annoucers that would paint a picture or give us some backstory. Everything is so stat heavy now (a la Sportscenter)...I miss the days of George Michael's Sports MAchine.
Vin Scully is amazing. and every time I hear his voice I get goosebumps! My dad listen to him as a kid and so have I. I only wish he stick around so my kid can listen to him!
Oh Man I can't wait to hear that iconic "It's time for Dodger Baseball!" when Opening Day rolls around. Vin Scully is truly the best sports broadcaster ever. So classy. It will be a truly sad day when he passes away.
The great ones like Vin Scully are going away, and are being replaced by pompous screamers who want their sound hooked into a Sports Center highlight.
Vin Scully the last great baseball announcer that is still around I have the 1981 NFC title game with the Cowboys/49ers when Clark made the Catch it is really something to hear Vin Scully's play by play for football.
I'm an Orioles fan and I dont really care for the Dodgers, but I have the MLB Extra Innings and after the Orioles are done I'll watch the Dodgers just to hear Vin Scully.
In vietnam we had armed forces radio and once in a while they would play a baseball game. I remember one day in 1969 we got to listen to the Dodgers and the Reds. With Mr. Scully handling the duties we were all assured the "world" was still there. some of us made it home, some didn't. We all loved him because he was our America.
I can remember summers as a child listening to the radio with my grandfather.... lazy, dreamy, warm days and the voice of dodger baseball... Vin Scully
I grew up in Connecticut and have been a Yankees and N.y. football Giants fan since 1958. I loved Mel Allen and Red Barber, but thought Vin was the best after hearing him on NBC's Game Of The Week lived in So. Cal from '80-'87 and hearing him on a daily basis made me realize there is simply no one better. Is it true 2010 is his last year? What a shame!
He is the true voice of Major League baseball. His voice brings back memories of when I was younger watching the NBC game of the week and the playoffs. Dodger fans are lucky to have him.
Vin Scully is the best there ever was, IMHO. He is a class announcer and does a fine job. Dodger fans are lucky to always have him do the entire tv broadcast (they feed his first three innings from radio to the tv feed). The Reds have a dozen announcers and shuffle them around constantly which drives me nuts. Sad to hear that 2010 will be Vin's last season :(
There's never been anyone better or as good as Vin. Red Barber, Ernie Harwell, Mel Allen and Jack Buck are all great, but Vin is the best of all time.
Los Angeles has been blessed with some of the best play by play announcers in all of sports. Vinnie with the Dodgers, Chick Hearn with the Lakers, Bob Miller with the Kings. Dick Enberg was also broadcasting the Angels and the Rams when they were in Los Angeles.
Right! As associated with the Dodgers as he is. Scully, sure as Hell, is not a homer. I had my doubts about Jon, but Bob Costas confirmed it on Jim Rome not long after Miller came on Rome after Barroid Bonds "Broke" Aaron's record. Doubt Scully is currently treating Manny as a hero for all to cherish.
Heck I could listen to him read the dang dictionary

So true.
So many TV broadcasters for baseball are always screaming or going nuts. I understand being employed by the team, and being a homer, but stop yelling.
Throughout his career Vin has always shown class while broadcasting, bless him

He initially said it made sense to retire after next season..
..."In my conversation with Bill Plaschke the subject of one more year came up and I said 'that makes sense, But I regret that I said that."
"And if I did make a decision I wouldn't reveal it, It would be proper for the Dodgers to make the announcement."
