@jamsci melbourne is a great city... and im a sydneysider saying this... and almost all sydneysiders who have visit melbourne, are really proud that Australia has melbourne as another great aussie city... but why do so many melbournians hate sydney and its people... it has to be sheer jealousy right..?? like the whole "hate me, coz you aint me" .... how u cant deny that sydney is without doubt everything that it means to be Australian... its also the worlds prettiest city hands down...
@jamsci actually in the Sydney Olympics Ceremony.... we show cased everything AUSTRALIAN... from lifestyle, to Aboriginal Culture, to OutBack..... we didn't even show case our own city.... Melbourne is so self rightous, that it only show cased stuff about melbourne, like trams, and afl, and all that kinda melbourne stuff....!~! infact the only thing us Sydneysiders hate about melbourne is the people!
@jamsci you know another example.... of how jealous and self rightous melbourne as a whole is.... when tourist visit Sydney.... a Sydneysider will say.... do you like Australia.... are you enjoying your time in Australia..... (which shows you, that just becoz we live in the largest and most prettiest city... we care about australia as a whole) in Melbourne... you guys say stuff like.... Hows Melbourne.... Do You Like Melbourne better..? that kinda stuff... shows you... Melbourn is very VAIN!!!

You're right, Quocviet1: the music by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra was just magnificent. I bought the CD ("Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games - Official Music from the Opening Ceremony") sometime later, and discovered this was Track 7: "Welcome To Melbourne".
