hi brian i have 4 american dj revo scan led and must say very good scaners the only thing i'm not fussed on is the washers in the haning bracket they don't hold the light in place very good when they ar on the stands so i changed the washers and put rubber one's on them insted i must say it done the job very well and the lights hold in place very good now the rubber washers cost me about 20 pence from a elctrical shop i had to make the holes bigger though
I bougth me a revo scan some months ago. I want to use it for small gigs of a rock band like pubs and clubs. What would be the best way of using this effect. aimed at the band? aimed at the ceiling? Aimed at the crowd? Basically I am the sound guy, tryiing to improve the visual esthetics.. ;-) Beside this effect I have a led bar of 8 RGB LED spots (DMX), a blinder and some PAR 46 for extra light.
Is with you also like that: if man turns out switches on that much worse/high clay/tone turns out makes??? and also normally is that the mirror engines very inaccurately works??? I ask for a Atwort.
Problem - I just bought 2 revo rolls and they wont run exactly the same or exactly the opposite with my Elation operator. They do and look great running in master\slave mode when I switch off the DMX. With the DMX setting stand alone, they go to the music but each do their own thing - they wont sinc in DMX - help
That's very logical! The LED's inside are just as bright in both of them. With the Scan the light the LED's produce is concentrated in one visible pattern on the wall, where as the Roll with his barrel mirror splits the light into multiple patterns.. and so they are less bright, but still good!
hey brian whaz up, so I just did a School Dance gig last night and i the breaker brokeabout 5 times. I was using a Pioneer Mixing System, LapTop, ADJ Vertigo, ADJ Derby, Strobe Light, 2 Smoke Machines, and a Chauvet Elan. I used all that and the power kept going off, how do i prevent this
You should try running off of multiple circuts. All that lighting/fog stuff uses a lot of power. That's why we're so LED crazy right now. It uses very little power to avoid issues like this
thanks dude!! i will look into that, i have a LED Messenger, but i'll get into that. Are the watts of the lights diffrent, cuz the vertigo is about 600watt total. what is the average of LED Lighting
@SmashinCans Hi there I'm not brian, I just read this, in my experience I had the same problem so many times well the way to fix it is easy go to the main electrical board and plug in directly or the easier one, Find a break that is over 40 amps! yes the amps in the breaker is the problem, is very comun to find 25 amps or 30 amps breaker in Houses in a salon you'll find 30 and up so I suggest u next time find withch breaker control your setup.
Like most lights, yeah they are going to look better in a dark room. I've done gigs where it's been dim and it's still looked pretty good. You are right though, they aren't going to do you much good in a room that's lit up with house lights
I have the problem that it is too bright in a complete dark room, but I'm talking about my bedroom here! So for people like me, it's bright enough at home! :p
My video response above is shot in the afternoon with the curtains before the window, and I like it that way, colors are very nice! If it's complete dark then the strobing hurts my eyes. :-D
Gonna get me some other lights to fix that issue though..
It's great to see DJs adopting LED lights. Drops power consumption like mad. Looks like you're getting the hang of things. I've got a light recommendation for ya - ADJ Pearl Color LED. Pretty bright unit, and it's really compact for something that bright. You can make scenes on your controller with it really easily, because it's only got two DMX channels. Centerstage Lighting is selling returned units on eBay for cheap, last I checked. A pair of these would really work great with your rig
What controller are you looking to purchase soon? I'm in the market search for a DMX controller and I have narrowed it down to the the Elation Op 192. Are you not satisfied with the OP 192?
Thanks for the info Brian. Liked the Revo Roll. Now I have to figure where to put it with out adding a second tripod. I scaled down on the setup. Marsha won't like another tripod. Too Much Stuff!
I have the Revo & another light on the tripod itself now. Is it best for this light to be up higher aiming down on the dance floor or doesn't it matter how high up the light is mounted? Thanks bro.
It's a matter of aiming it. You could probably mount this between one of your color splashes if you had something on the other side to balance the weight (another light)
looks very cool, i was looking at these because they are LED but i dont think the projected patterns are as cool looking as other scanners such the scx500 and so on
Does anybody know about LED replacements for Effect lights? I know they have LED Par Lamp Replacements but I haven't found the same for Effect lights. Brian, Great bit of kit there. You got me wising I went LED.
When it comes to scanners, you're probably better off just getting LED scanners. Who knows? One of these days they may make LED replacements for old skool scanners.
That's what I guessed. But I figured it was worth an ask because you seem to know what's going on in the DJ world right about when it's happening. Keep it up man I love watching your stuff. Here's hoping my LED replacements are invented soon :)
No, absolutely not. It's important to understand what DMX actually is & does. I use it at all of my weddings to do colour washes with my par cans. I can make my par cans flash for dance music or I can make them nice and moody for slow jams. DMX will basically make your light show more versitile.
Yeah but many scaners, moonflowers, etc have internal modes that have pre-programed patterns that aren't half bad! But yes, for REAL control DMX is the way to go for sure.
I found this very useful, i was about to buy the revoscan, but after seeing the revo roll, i may go for that. This video is way better than the ADJ videos.
The scanner is better than it looks, it would look better in a larger room, but also really really needs to be used in atleast a pair, and preferrably in a set of 4. The single beam of the Revo scan should be significantly brighter than the multiple beams from the roll, but the trade-off as can be seen, is that you need multiple revo scans to make a show, where a revo roll will do a good job as a single or a pair.
Seems leds are heavily coming into DJ lights which is not bad thing of course. This makes me want to get some of those to my house to boost some home parties :)
I love the idea of an LED scanner. However I wish they had a gobo wheel with an LED light source. I'm sure they are in the works and as soon as they're available I'm buying 4. Great Video!!
When the lights were on or the background music in the intro? The intro music was"Seasons Of Love" by Bill Nunnally. The music when the lights were going crazy was "Crying At The Discotech" by Alkazar

Just brought two scanners and a barrell, i'm not going to be disapointed with brightness.
How do these compair to normal scanners?
What about replacing the LEDs? Easy?
tehrules 2 years ago
you never have to replace the LED;s they last pretty much forever! And adj say the brightness is compareable with a 250w halogen light

the name of the song is crying at the discoteque by alcazar sweedish group. and the revo roll is a great light Brian.
By the way Brian can you list some remix or track that has the same beat as this one.

The Vertigo is 300 watts.
Like this video says, these lights are 12 watts each. Lights like the Revo III are 48 watts. I've got loads of videos up on LED lights. Have a look!
briansredd 3 years ago
thanks, all i need is a LED Double Derby, too bad they dont make that
SmashinCans 3 years ago
Slight correction, the Vertigo is 600 Watts. It uses 2x300 Watt bulbs, like the Derby/Avenger lights.

Whatever you like best.
briansredd 3 years ago
But is there any huge difference between the two. Like effects or colour's or anything really? More capabiities?
Dj72Unlimited 3 years ago
The Roll throws more light around than the Scan. That's because of the barrel mirrors
