I was awakened from my sleep by this performance. Two masters of the instrument at the top of their games. To me you can hear all the years of study in Shahrdad his mastery and technical brillance. The same with Karen. There is a bit playful competiveness then it gets iintense. That's when the differences between them becomes more defined. She closed her eyes and just played from the heart. Her expression was just to powerful for him to match. Both were brillant but she touched the soul.

@CHC4669 I saw this on TV and was awe inspired. Their duel was very playful, and I liked them both. It was a nice contrast in playing styles. With regard to expressions of the heart, that's what music is about. It's not about who is better at it, unless it's done irreverently. This concert featured two outstanding musicians who got "caught up" in a bit of competitiveness and had a lot of fun with it (not to mention Yanni himself), but in the end, both gave their souls in their own way.
