  • Marciano was something of an anomaly. Never had there ever been a heavyweight who had what appeared to be so little physical advantage (he was small, light, slow, and had a short reach), but then had other qualities to such a degree that they more than made up for it. An iron will, tremendous heart, wrecking balls for fits, and a style that was actually very confusing and difficult to figure out. If you underestimated him, look out, brother. You just signed your own death certificate.

  • @LedWhisky69 back then everybody was small though..

  • @larrwd The heavyweights back then weren't the size they are now, but most of Rocky's opponents were taller and heavier than he was. Remember, he was 5'11" and fought at around 184 lbs. which was considered small for a heavyweight fighter even back in the '50s.

  • @LedWhisky69 Actually Marciano outweighed 19 of his opponents.. and over 40 of his 49 opponents were 202 lbs or less

  • @larrwd Ok then, thanks for proving my point.

  • @LedWhisky69 Wow lol your an idiot.. most of the time rocky was within 10 pounds and in better shape .. so probably had more muscle mass than his opponents..

  • @larrwd See, this proves that you don't know much about boxing. A 10 to 15 lb weight advantage can mean A LOT, especially when both fighters are below 200 lbs. If Rocky had more muscle on his frame than his opponent, that's to his own credit. What about height and reach? You realize that Rocky had the shortest reach of any heavyweight champ ever. Did you bother to look this up or are you just cherrypicking info? Thanks, nice talking to you and go learn something about boxing, please.

  • Heads need 2 B more objective than subjective when considering their opinion without really knowing what really went down, every champion great or so called great champion had some hokem working in their corner. I don't think any balanced minded person can look @ Marciano's record & trust it. Marciano defeating Ali in both their primes is a ridiculous notion, Marciano vs Patterson is more interesting 2 contemplate. Ali was not the mightiest boxer 2 step in the ring, but greatest personality yes.

  • "No real champion tries to prove himself, outside of the ring."

I think you all should stop speculating who would win against who, and just respect Rocky for the person he was.

  • @Okynous

I couldn't have stated it better myself! Everyone has an opinion. As humans, have we become so bored that we can get angry, cus, and fight over athletes, teams, and sporting events? Furthermore, the people behaving irrationally had and/or have the same opportunities as a Rocky Marciano or any successful person. Rocky and successful people work EXTREMELY hard and stayed EXTREMELY focused, while the mediocre argue, cus, and fight.

  • ali should never speeks bad about roccky

  • @nagash19866

Rocky would've spanked Ali's ass all over the ring.

  • @ezekielwahwah Rocky is good but there is no way a flatfooted, no head movement, slow ass marciano gonna beat Ali....but that doesn't take away the fact that rocky is a legend

  • @MegaBigthumbs

Ali had no defense and no punch dude, how in the hell could he have made it against a fighter of the stamina, slickness and power of Marciano?

  • @ezekielwahwah Rock has never been tested he hasnt fought any top fighters in their prime so going against prime Ali

I give the fight to Ali 10 rd stoppage on cuts Marciano takes his first loss

  • @MegaBigthumbs

I agree that Marciano never faced adequate opposition, but Ali's defense was too irresponsible to match with Marciano's power and stamina: Ali would dance around trying to tease Marciano, but Rocky would catch Ali flush repeatedly, slow him down and make him lose focus. I see a UD for Marciano in a fast-paced, battled fight.

  • @ezekielwahwah Rocky was truly a man of brute strength but Ali faced Liston, Foreman, Shavers and the like and found a way to beat them. Now with regards to the teasing, Ali would have been knocked out if he fought Rocky like the way he fought Henry Cooper. But beyond that time, Ali could always find a way to win

  • Rocky was relentless, he was on you like no other champion, maybe Mike Tyson in later years.

  • back when fighters had class, no bitches like mayweather accusing ppl of taking roids, just pure balls

  • @cfcnlr mayweather is kind of right though way to many drugs..

  • Pacman is a modern Rocky Marciano

  • @jersonoliveros Shut your fucking mouth idiot, Marciano is 100 times the fighter Pacquiao is. Pacquiao was knocked out by bums.

  • You gotta love a humble man like Rocky, great champions have full confidence and Rocky saying such kind words about Joe only makes you love him even more.

  • but even joe louis doubted that he could beat the rock even in his prime. rip to both fighters though great fighters of their time.

  • I love the sound on this

  • @malenakiss Really? They used crappy 70s music for a documentary on a fighter from the 50s. Not working for me. The story line of Al Weil having something to do with teaching Marciano to box is laughable. Marciano was already a well established amateur long before he met Weil. His stylistics were already established. Weil knew how to manage fighters (and steal from them). He wasn't a trainer.

  • @MADMAC572 thanks for commenting - I have yet to read about it...

  • @malenakiss Yet to read about what? His amateur career (he was 8-4 in the amateurs and won the amateur 1946 All Armed Forces championship)? His subsequent introduction to Weil? It's not clear to me what you have yet to read about?
