I live in Britain i have found a kukri i like nepal made for the British army design but its 10 inches, im wondering will 10 inches be big enough to be a nice machette size without being a sword? any thoughts?

I have a Kukri knife, it's like the metal is from another planet. I heard of a single Indian warrior who fought off 49 arab train thieves with one of these knives, they were so scared after he got done with a few of their mates that the whole lot fled, and some of them even had guns.
Nice blade, Tom. My Kung Fu master has a handmade one similar to this. He got it at a seminar taught by a real Nepalese Gurkha, who's been in war and used kukris in combat. And I think it's pronounced koo-kree.

I think you are mistaking that knife for the special one they use for the water buffalo ceremony. The ceremonial one is some thing like 30 inches long.

@nobink1 actually a Gurkha is a trained soldier of Nepal, and a Gurkha khukuri is a khukuri that is meant for their army. So while it isn't technically a GK, it is made by the same company who supplies the army with theirs. If anything the one offered at Cold Steel is just a khukuri style blade, not a real Khukuri which are from Nepal.
Mine is from KHHI like yours but it has 2 fullers. Love this vid! you did a gr8 job talkin about it & Nepal. I've had my custom khukuri named "Sazed" for about 3 months and used to to cut down multiple trees and its still goin like it was day 1. I've got the Panawal Dotted blade with the Black Ops handle, and its engraved with my name and its name. Check out my video please! How does it handle? Like a well-balanced sword/axe or like a sluggish club? I only ask because I'm planning on getting something from the site and I want a baseline for a good blade.
I've got one of these bad boys as well. LOVE IT!!! I used it to make short work of a tree in my backyard and was super impressed by its performance. One question though, do you have any tips on sharpening it? It looks like it may have a convex edge, but I'm not 100% sure on how to get that edge back to shaving sharp.

iv got the military issue officers kukri that ones not military issue because theres only one contractor allowed to make the actual gurkha military issue one go to windlass.com
its used mostly by gurkhas and in one operation a gurkha troops where sent to kill a warlord and in crossfire after they killed warlord they nneded identification to show hes dead.so one gurkha pulled out a khukuri. they went back to camp and officer said have you go ny identification so the gurkha soilder pulled out the warlords head out of his bag.look in internet it was in news not long ago

You also mentioned in one that soosh's blade must have been a rip off copy of a khukuri house blade because on their site it shows two rivets. @TheJultar Only one person in the world makes them. That is how rare it is. He makes about 1-2 a month if you are lucky to get one. He is a great guy.
These Blades From Kukrihouse are all made from old truck leaf springs (delivery trucks and busses) so 1095 would not be used because it's much too brittle of a steel not commonly found in the springs they use. 5160 is most common in the springs they use.
Noss4 Tested the Ang Khola from Himalayan imports and could not break it,he never tested the Beast from Kukrihouse...at least not to my knowledge anyway.

straight from khukuri house. i saw a few other videos on the blade, not 1, not even 1 video had a negative point about this blade. i saw the destruction test on a very similar blade by noss4 and i was amazed.
and to top it all of, I got it shipped for $130. ive payed more for far lesser blades.

this one looks like a real khukuri .... have been seeing these khukuri all my life and just watched some online reviews and few of them are funny ... this one look like the one we have been using it or my ancestors used it ... obviously haven't used it so cannot comment about its sharpness and how good can it be used as a versatile knife but looks good.

@nobink1 actually a Gurkha is a trained soldier of Nepal, and a Gurkha khukuri is a khukuri that is meant for their army. So while it isn't technically a GK, it is made by the same company who supplies the army with theirs. If anything the one offered at Cold Steel is just a khukuri style blade, not a real Khukuri which are from Nepal.

Mine is from KHHI like yours but it has 2 fullers. Love this vid! you did a gr8 job talkin about it & Nepal. I've had my custom khukuri named "Sazed" for about 3 months and used to to cut down multiple trees and its still goin like it was day 1. I've got the Panawal Dotted blade with the Black Ops handle, and its engraved with my name and its name. Check out my video please! The Beast is no longer available on their site they have made a second generation called The 3 Chirra SPL (Guardian Angel)

I've got one of these bad boys as well. LOVE IT!!! I used it to make short work of a tree in my backyard and was super impressed by its performance. One question though, do you have any tips on sharpening it? It looks like it may have a convex edge, but I'm not 100% sure on how to get that edge back to shaving sharp.

its used mostly by gurkhas and in one operation a gurkha troops where sent to kill a warlord and in crossfire after they killed warlord they nneded identification to show hes dead.so one gurkha pulled out a khukuri. they went back to camp and officer said have you go ny identification so the gurkha soilder pulled out the warlords head out of his bag.look in internet it was in news not long ago

You also mentioned in one that soosh's blade must have been a rip off copy of a khukuri house blade because on their site it shows two rivets. Well this blade as well as all other vids of the beast show 3 rivets. Kinda makes me question how much you actually observe. Why does it matter anyway? It's a kick ass blade regardless!!

These Blades From Kukrihouse are all made from old truck leaf springs (delivery trucks and busses) so 1095 would not be used because it's much too brittle of a steel not commonly found in the springs they use. 5160 is most common in the springs they use.
Noss4 Tested the Ang Khola from Himalayan imports and could not break it,he never tested the Beast from Kukrihouse...at least not to my knowledge anyway.
Sooch00 made some of the same mistakes on his review.

Tom , the chira beast is the king of knives!!! cold steel does not forge their knives as well as the one you have showing there. I have chipped cold steel blades , i have even broke the handle on a cold steel recon tanto. i have broken many swords in half and knives in my day but that thing. i could never destroy.
