Andy Hess is a groove machine,,always in the pocket. He is one of my inspirations, and his style has influenced my playing greatly. He has made me a better bassist and as far as talent goes, I am just around the corner from him...what a great band.

I wouldn't fancy trying to play bass along with Warren. No two performances are the same and thats's always a problem for someone playing bass. That's also what makes his music more exciting too.

obviously teh guy can play, he's with Warren for a reason. However, compared to some of Gov't Mule's more regular bass players from old (i.e. Widespread's bassist), this guy doesn't hold a candle.

I do play bass and have performed...I am not implying I am better whatsoever tho. He just doesn't bring the goods like some of Gov't Mule's bass players of old.

Sbnewman Thanks.Your right about the stones & zep thing.When I was teenager in the late70's there were 2 bands I remember when I first heard them I was like wow where did that come from.That was SKYNYRD & SABBATH. Man when I first heard freebird I was blown away. And as far as SABBATH I remember listening to their first album and saying holy shit that was the heaviest darkest music I had ever heard. They put the HEAVY in heavy metal and to think up till then people thought Zep was heavy metal.
