  • I am Japanese. I thank you very much for making this video.

You are the best Gaijin San ( sorry to call you this way) in Japan.

  • That's called instinct. All animals have instinct. And iam pretty sure a dolphin is a animal kid.

  • The thing about people is... we can be very loud when we group together. So you saying that any of it is a waste of time, in my opinion, is in itself a waste of time (7 min 45 sec, to be exact). Awareness helps, every year I post videos and status updates when the slaughter starts. And I'm going to do it, sign every petition possible, and all just to end something cruel and inhumane. Did you not hear that dolphins are self-aware? Does that not tell you anything? They're not oblivious animals.

  • And USA kills chickens and cows what's the diffrence there both animals. Both don't have souls.so for all the animal loves like @theexoticanimal it's sad that you would put effort to save a dolphin then saving kids from dying of hunger.sad.

  • Please take this vid off and watch the movie. I didnt mean to be mean, but seriously you cant go around saying. Theres no hope lets waste our lives and not do anything about and sugar coat what japan is doing. Activists didnt Sugar coat Horse slaughter so why should we sugar coat dolphin slaughter? We have already been nice to them WAY to many times. Enough is Enough. the ocean isnt only Japans they are being selfish and they know it. If dolphins become extinct I know exactly who to blame.

  • I think it's hard to argue that that logic doesn't apply to intelligent animals, like how in the days of human slavery, the mater race declared that the slave race isn't same as them, therefore undeserving of the same consideration. But this is a topic for another day. Good video overall. I think the author stayed objective enough.

  • There is the whole ethical issue, which can fill up series of books on its own about whether it's right to kill such intelligent animals as dolphins, but I guess no one can really make an objective claim on that. I however think that human race should have more consideration for other animals that can think and feel like we can about life and death issues. The base of human consideration to other ppl, and the laws to support that has this "do to the neighbors as you would want them to do to you"

  • I guess the Western community in general have always been pressing the Japanese government for its whaling practice from the outside, as they can't do much about their domestic constituents' views, and this movie simply followed that tradition. I personally found the movie surely informative and eye-opening at the least.

  • However, this video talked too much about dolphin eating and how there are only few Japanese eating dolphins, so it's not a big issue. The maker of this video's view might have changed since actually watching the movie, but I feel like the movie talks with more emphasis on the fact that there is a huge profits to be gained through dolphin trading for the entertainment industry. That town of Taiji, Japan does supply most of the dolphins for the aquariums and zoos worldwide, if I remember correctl

  • I watched the movie and I was very moved by it, but I completely agree with the video about the point that if the movie production had aims to stop the Japanese (the small minority who benefit greatly from dolphin slaughtering), then they should have approached it in a way that would appeal to the domestic population who will have says in their domestic regulation. No matter how much the international community finds a domestic activity distasteful, it's the domestic law that will change things.

  • THis movie basicly just proves why it's wrong to kill dolphins, and also pointless to eat them. Go ahead Japan, rage at the truth, continue eating dolphin and get mercury poisoning.

  • Standing ovation goes to you, sir. The dolphin killing is not based upon cruel nature, but it is merely a cultural standpoint from the Japanese only in few specific regions. The movie sparked awareness at first for many but soon after, said awareness recedes rapidly and yet the killing is still nowhere close to a halt. "The Cove" did sugarcoat the situation a lot, but hey, it's Hollywood after all so what do you expect, right?

  • Just viewed the video, I agree with some of your points. But you must understand that this film is primarily meant for westerns. As you pointed out, there are few Japanese who eat dolphin, those who do eat it will not stop after seeing "The Cove".

It is mainly to show people what happens there and get more support from all over the world. Perhaps it will also ensure international pressure against the dolphin hunt.

Last point, how should they convince Japanese without these images?

  • @MrTweaknews He explains that clearly in the video. Watch 5:47 - 6:57

  • @TheOnlyTechnoFish What does he explains?

  • @MrTweaknews That he understands the movie was made primarily for westerners and the answer to your previous question...

  • Comment removed

  • I'm American, and I just wanted you to know that I'm ashamed of my fellow Americans for saying such ridiculously awful things. I agree with everything you've said wholeheartedly BUT those who don't need to be civil. Man people are so freakin' ridiculous sometimes.

  • You are a great man. Your carefully stated logic presents both the problem and the solution for the Japanese people (as opposed to "western" culture.) Keep up the good work! I enjoy your videos!

  • You're very brave to make a video on such a sensitive topic! I felt you had very logical, valid points to make, which I agree with. The movie was never meant to persuade Japanese people, just to show Western nations the goings-on of the dolphin industry (including dolphin captivity). Unfortunately many people can't see past the horror of the issue into the logical points... It's definitely a horrific problem but we have to look past emotions to be able to ever solve it.

  • If you're going to comment on a movie you've never seen, don't put up so many disclaimers that you'll delete negative comments...

  • @ballisticchops

I did not say i would delete "negative comments"..

I said I would delete "rudeness and abuse"..

    There is a difference.

  • iTellyoueverything is right. westerners or not these guys exposed a truth about a serious issue. you could call it a waste of time, however there is a japanese version of this and how well it is marketed in japan probably isn't up to westerners. and if theres been any hate on japan from westerners because of this film please understand it does represent all of us. its the governments of all our countries that are separating us and keeping us in the dark.

  • It would be great if you did a video telling people what they can do to help the situation even more about the Japanese situation and you can just mention what 'The Cove' left out instead of calling it a waste of time, because the 'waste of time' part is what some people take personally.

  • If you change the title of your video to "What 'the cove' should have done" or something like that. The wording of your video title is what causes the backlash, I was immediately angry when I started watching your video purely because of the title, and thankfully I watched the whole thing because I learned something and your point of view is actually legitimate and quite important. Someone STILL need to do what you just suggested, a video FOR the japanese.

  • OMG! You could not of seen the same film. You have no clue. This youtube video is a waste of time.

  • And the part where Rick says that most of the Japanese people doesn't know about this issue, is the part where intelligent people understand that the movie definetly not is made to condemn a whole nation, but to condemn a set of actions made by a small group of people and supported (many times probably invoulontary) by millions of people all over the world.

  • "The Cove" isn't about getting people to stop to eat dolphin-meat. It's about decreasing the whole industry which is supporting the captivation of dolphins and the slaughter of dolphins. I don't feel that I ever want to go to a dolphin show again. And I'm pretty sure this issue will help to inspire people to take action on even bigger issues. That's what I felt after I'd seen the movie, and that's what many of my friends felt too. To see passionate people like Rick is inspiring.

  • To be honest, The Cove wasn't only a waste of time. It was offensive to the Japanese people, and to Japanese culture itself.

  • @SamGlover25

Rick says that the things the fishermen are saying about dolphin-slaughter being a cultural thing is a lie. If you were intelligent enough, you would understand that what he's saying is that we're not supposed to condemn a whole nation, but instead a specific set of actions made by a small group of people. The movie is criticising IWC, the Japanese government, the ones who hold dolphins in captivity or kill dolphins, and not the Japanese people! Think, God damn it!

  • Get over it world.

  • I do not think that cove is a waste of time, because it show what an activist would do. An activist would go as far as it can to save what he want, and Rick did what he had to do. Another thing, people might not had believe Rick if he did not tape it.

  • I think I am able to understand your point of view.

This video is not offensive in any way. I can't imagine why somebody would be fed up at you for making it.

No country is perfect, no legislation is perfect and people should in my humble opinion, try to put themselves in other people's shoes or just mind their own business.

personal rant: The more people are trying to convince me to stop eating meat(animals getting killed) the less likely I am. Then again I've actually killed animals for food.

  • Thank you very much for this video. My sister is really anti-Japan because of WWII(And honestly, because since I have been so into it, she has been sick of it), but I am really into Japan! So it is nice to hear some more facts over this matter to talk to her about! So thanks again for the video!

  • Its like he said in other video. "Its like if you were inviting someone in your house and the guest started criticize your house saying «Oh look your house, its all messed up, and that shouldn't be placed like that blablabla»". Not only you grief the laws and criticize people, you say that they should change when you just acted like a barbarian douche? Plus, before criticizing other country, start by doing these thing in YOUR country cause I doubt that your country is the PERFECT country.

    Thx..

  • The film was bigoted and misleading playing to emotions in order to accumulate and convince others to join their 'righteous crusade' of ignorance and zealotry.

  • ire human population. which should probably be plummeting here in the near future. my point however is argue with a "westerner" over how hypocritical we are when the truth is your not doing shit yourself. show a little aloha. not alohate. lead by example. but what do i know im just a westerner

  • im sorry was I arguing the point that america is fucked up? No. Yes I am an american and yes im not much of an activist myself but unless your doing anything yourself about it then im afraid your a fat lazy american like us "westerners". but thats ok. 7-8f increase in 4 years? our polar ice caps will be gone before 10 years. which means ill be seeing you real shortly on the mainland my friend and then maybe you will see how these problems cannot be solved by one country alone but in fact the ent

  • i wonder what is more horrific.... collapse of the worldwide ocean or less chicken for us humans to eat.... hmmmm.

  • @bizobmarley Do u seriously think this small village fishermen collapse the worldwide ocean? U should know, to domesticate BILLIONS of animals, huge amount of Co2 is produced. At Cop17, it's said if the world keep producing Co2 at present level, the climate temp will rise 7-8F in 4 years. This'll collapse the ocean. US, this one nation produces 50% of Co2. This's the real f**ked up problem you ignore to face. It amazes me how hypocritical Western ppl can be on this issue.

  • @mahalo303 Yeah that seems to be another huge problem but this video isn't about chickens, cows and pigs is it? I was responding to the cove, thats why were talking below this ridiculous video.. it doesnt matter if the US kills 8 billion chickens a year because chickens dont hold any important spot in the food chain (except to humans, but f*ck us) like dolphins do. quit wasting YOUR time by watching this video or arguing over it because you just seem to be arguing for the sake of stupidity..

  • @bizobmarley You are the stupid and ignorant one, you should know.

  • To all the vegetarians and sea sheperd people out there, the US kills 8 BILLION chicken each year. I would think that thats a little more than 20000 dolphins

  • totally agree with you mate! Sea sheperd is also popular only because of the American tv show whale wars. They get millions and millions of donations.

  • Enough of this. Everyone has different perspectives. Respect one another's views whether you agree or not. That goes for ALL of you. As for the person who uploaded this video. I recommend that you take it down. You're only fueling anger.

  • @XxNorthernListenerxX Go out and tell this to activists first. This video is not fueling anger. This video is one of the most neutral statement I'd seen.

  • Well you've got a good point there when you say the movie won't educate and change the minds of the japanese people. But I don't think that because of that the movie is a complete waste of time. You see, when the movie comotes non-japanese viewers about the ethical question in the whale and dolphin hunting, it will soon press on government and organizations of that countries, and international orgs on Japan. So it surely IS worth the effort, although not as directly and effectively, maybe.

  • What makes me scared is that the fact this thoughtful, well balanced video statement is getting more 低評価(disapprove) than 高評価(approve). It really scares me.

  • @mahalo303

    Thank you...

but it is worse than you think...

I was harassed and abused and stalked so much by a group of American extremists that I removed this video from general viewing a few months ago..

They threatened to kill me and rape my family.

Now, only people who find a link to it can see it...

    So much for free speech.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom NO!!!! That is horrible. Your video is not even so critical about their protests. The world have to see their true faces, especially US celebs who "harmlessly" support these people... like Ellen, Oprah, Jennifer Aniston etc..

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom I've read a book re the history of EcoTerrorism and gained some understanding that in US winning rights often involved some extent of breaking laws and using violence (leads also to gun control issue). So their acts of violence n invading other ppl's rights are justified under the name of their movement. But their actions will never get any understanding in Jpn because ppl have different belief system here. Did y report to the police? I think u should.

  • @TheJapanChannelDcom i have to say those animal extremists are crazy and you are completely right its silly and horrible that people would say such things to you.

  • I didn't like the movie. I thought it was just a bunch of people pushing and making countries hate us ^_^ if they say no then dont. Do we have a bunch of Mexicans or Chinese coming and making a documentary about area 51? Plus right after i watched the movie a bunch of people made comments like i hope all those japs die for what they've done. Even my friend who's a dolphin lover said it was wrong but killing all Japanese crosses the line. :(

  • @Harbinger229 LOL sorry little kid but you must be a complete fuckwad for not understanding what i wrote. OBVIOUSLY they were sneaking around 007 style to get the necessary shots they needed to make this documentary, HOWEVER like i said the fist time THIS IS NOT WHAT THE DOCUMENTARY WAS ABOUT. Its about the slotter of thousands of dolphins a year by the japanese government, the toxicity of these dolphins and the effects that mercury has on its people who are givien this meat. read slower maybe?

  • @bizobmarley How about chemicals injected to cows, pigs and chickens that are so bad to human health, or how about Genetically modified food that US is pressuring other nations to import. Oh, US is pressuring Japan to import mass produced beef so bad. Western people, please do not think how you view life is the absolute right one. If you want you voice to be heard to other people, do it in more respectful way like the video said.

  • its the same with meat if the government was toke ovur bu vegans and banned meat the whole world will riot because its in the culture they enjoy eating meat if you made a film what happens what to animals in a slaughterhouse it wont change the fact people enjoy meat and will still eat no matter what those people who made the cove are complete brain dead's that dont understand Japanese Culture im not saying that whale slaughterer isn't

good but the guys forget 2 vital lifelessons con

  • @sehun123 the vital 2 life lessons is that the 1st one is sure vial people need food

and that life is not fair : that is be coz that we need food to live and different people like different foods its like going now to Africa and going to one of there tribes they eat humans dont they some of them we cant change that how else are they supposed to eat sand? but its not that i agree with eating humans but that's a different subject .

  • Each year, roughly 3,000,000 children die before their 5th birthday as a result of hunger and malnutrition. 16,000 children die EVERY day. That's about one child every 5 seconds. Paul Watson said Sea Shepherd recently recieved $850,000 in donations to get The Steve Irwin out of impound in the U.K. For that amount of money a school could feed lunch to 500 children every day for 5 years. Do you want to donate to cause that REALLY makes a difference? Save the Children. Donate to UNICEF.

  • How is The Cove a waste of time? It was a very educational and touching documentary. And they did make a japanese version of the movie. You can watch it for free at their website. I think that by showing it to other countries and getting them involved, there'll be pressure to stop the unnecessary killing of dolphins. Other activists will go to japan and protest, most likely peacefully, and the japanese hopefully will feel ashamed and change.

  • @FireKeeper13 There is one central main thought you should keep in mind: The japanese society, including the people, their way of life, their manners and their point of view, all these things are not equivalent to your one point of view on these things. Cultures differ in a huge variety of facettes. You can not except that a western-style movie, with a western-style point of view and narration technique really gets to the core of the "problem" in the japanese public.

  • @FireKeeper13 Don't evaluate the japanese society with your western-view. Don't think that your own society is superior or more advanced in moral issues than the japanese one. If you take a moment to think about the problems your own country has to deal with, you will see that these problems are quite similiar, and I'm sure you would not like to be judged by other foreigners about the things going on in your country.

  • @FireKeeper13 y would u want to change what someone else does in their country. In a country with good manners, self discipline, respect for others, respect for society, know the secret to living to a long life, and rarely think negatively openly, I wouldn't care if they ate something that was delicious to them. If they made a movie about what goes on in America, ppl wud b ready 2 riot. Why go over there just to complain? Ur in ur country wer that doesn't happen so y should you care? Idiot.

  • Who cares whether it was made to 'make money' when it caused the raise of awareness of the situation?

The 'sneaky' stuff is only part of the documentary, not the WHOLE thing.

I feel like all you took from the doc was 'oh its them sneaking around and being rude' when the documentary RAISED awareness about this stuff going on! how else were they going to get the footage???

They can also translate the film in japanese.....

  • Yikes. Those japanese fishermen are HORRIBLE!!

  • the movie is great because the only ones that can re-educate ppl from Japan is ppl out of japan they don't know what is "animal cruelty" they lived with the devil every day on their lives. This was a wake up call to them and I don't think that I will hate my friends from Asia just because this movie . Good person is a good person anywhere at anytime & bad ppl the same (most of them are very ambitions and desesperates for money).

  • it's very sad see what the japonese people do with dolphins...

  • They made this movie to bring this horrifying issue to the attention of the whole world; in the hopes that the world will put pressure on the Japanese to end this cruelty. You say they should have made it for the Japanese people? Well no one banned them from seeing it. In fact it has been aired in their country, and instead of being warm and understanding, protests have taken place because people were angry and said that the westerners just did not understand their traditions. Watch then judge.

  • @DDDelicious22 What is this horrifying about? the dolphins the this Taiji fishermen are not endangered one. You think its horryfying because dolphins are smarter than other animals like cows and pigs? So you smarter Western people have to put pressure on the inferior Yellow people? This film is not only waste of time but also creating so much hate feelings between Western and Japanese people. This approach is so wrong.

  • @mahalo303 so stabbing dolphins to death and watching the water turn a bloody red while they try to swim for their lives but failing, not horrifying? Really? I'm sure you wouldn't mind if you watched your own child being stabbed to death like that, like the dolphins do. Dolphins aren't just intelligent; they're wild creatures. And the way they're being killed is barbaric and absolutely pointless. cattle are domesticated, raised for providing humans with food and killed using humane methods.

  • @DDDelicious22 Differentiating killing domesticated cattle and wild dolphins are just justification for your own convenience. Then I should ask you wouldn't mind domesticating your children for food. You should realize how hypocritical all your arguments are.

  • Everyone in Japan, even foreigners living there, are scared to rock the boat. They know that their conversations on the internet are even monitored. They have to appear aligned with the "cruelty to animals" mentality of the Japanese. It's quite sad...

  • @The6sicksikhs Yaaawn.... One red herring after another from you... You really love fish, don't you? Hee hee....

  • @The6sicksikhs Ignore me? Thank God! I was hoping for that. Now I can post my educational comments without further interruptions from teenagers like you running amok with their Dad's computer.

  • @MsBenny00

Actually Pigs, Cows, and Sheep are given a bolt of electric shock rendering them unconscious. Their throats are slit and then they are hung upside down to bleed out until they finally die. In private farms they are shot with a rifle, but that doesnt always render instant death, but it's the most humane. Dolphins arent just "stabbed to death" the fisherman are going for their spine to ensure a quicker death. Maybe you should educate yourself.

  • @missarizona25 yes well that isn't right either I don't know why you're saying this to me, just because im arguing for dolphins doesn't mean i agree with all the other animals being killed. I'm talikng about dolphins on this page because the video was about dolphins i'm aware how most animals are killed and it's not right i'll argue for most animals. If you watch the cove they don't aim for the spine in the footage they stab them anywhere.

  • "the cove" will heft stop the killing of dolphins in Japan and all over the globe... when it happens you will be shocked.

  • I feel that making the movie was a purpose of making money. Though i do feel that it's in relation with a good topic that's being adressed. The fact that it wasn't made in Japanese makes you wonder though, because if you really wanted to target Japan's population to make change, that's how to get good attention. I feel that the sneaking around was to make the movie more interesting and show their desperate measures, so i do I admire their efforts. Atleast they're putting effort in trying, right?

  • @sniperfish

Okay, but if a "documentary" is trying to inform the world about "certain issues", it ought to at least try to present it honestly and in a subjective manner instead of a smear campaign. And let's face it, until the fishermen of Taiji deem it to be unprofitable, they will continue to hunt dolphin and not another nation in the world has the right to stop them. The UN Law of the Sea Treaty states that Japan can utilize the marine life within their Economic Exclusion Zone as they wish.

  • @The6sicksikhs How did they do a "smear" campaign??? They used the most objective tool we have... video footage of these fishermen. The footage speaks for itself, the people filming don't have to say a word, really... And you're very wrong when you say "until the fishermen of Taiji deem it to be unprofitable, they will continue to hunt dolphin". If the government deems it to be too much of a political embarrassment, or the World Whaling Commission orders a stop or reduction, they'll stop.

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious

I call it a smear-campaign because they use their "objective tool" to distort the truth. One example would be in that O'Barry would have the viewer believe that Taiji been keeping it's dolphin hunts a secret and that he exposed it. National Geographic reported on Taiji in the 1970's and Cousteau filmed a hunt for one his documentaries in the 1970's also. And it certainly has been no secret from the japanese people, regardless of O'Barry's biased portrayal of them.

  • @The6sicksikhs "I call it ... of them." You're focusing on a previous generation. I never knew about what was going on until I saw "The Cove". You can't rely on old documentaries to be aired or capture the imagination of young people today. And of course Taiji hides & minimize the dolphin hunt. Look at the security & hiding of that cove. If it was all out in the open as you imply, there'd be no need for those measures! You FAIL, my friend, lol.

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious

I knew about dolphin hunting back in the 80's. In fact, I remember the documentary on television. I don't recall hearing anything about the fishermen giving the film crew a hard time, probably because the crew wasn't approaching it with a personal ax to grind, looking to redeem themselves for past percieved crimes against dolphins, as O'Barry obviously was. And you can laugh all you want. Maybe I will laugh too and when we are finished, Japan will still be hunting dolphins.

  • 3) It’s thought that that excess dolphin meat not being eaten by Japanese, is sold to N.Korea & China. At any rate, Taiji WILL take notice & stop once the mercury poisoning begins to decimate the dolphin-eating population in their town, & cause birth defects. This already happened in the “ex”- dolphin hunting town of Minimata, firmly embedded in collective Japanese consciousness, where 3,000 suffered mercury poisoning & also had horrendously deformed babies. Karma, Karma, Karma…

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious

Nice try, but I can't let your comments mislead anyone. The people who acquired mercury poisoning in Minamata didn't get it from eating dolphins and Minamata wasn't a dolphin hunting town. Again, you circle round and round, in an effort to ignore the fact that I have told no lies. Japan is hunting dolphins in it's own waters, the IWC is powerless to stop them and the United Nations has provided treaties that allow them to hunt dolphins. Sovereignty has privileges.

  • (B) The Japanese government on a local as well as national basis tried to hide the Minamata disaster, until; it became too overwhelming to ignore. They're doing the same with Taiji now. I hope you enjoy your tasty dolphin meals. I look forward to your personal demise. May it be slow & severe enough to cause you to reflect on the short-sighted & unethical position you’re taking now.

  • @MuslimcocksAreDelicious...Ahhhh, yes. Here is the flame-out. I see you have quickly tired of attempting to debate me in a logical, intelligent manner and now resort to threats and wishful hating (if it's any consolation, any other recipient of a very public pimp-slap would share your sentiments). I can only imagine how many of your teeth you have ground to shards in your frustration or how many adult depends you have ruined, searching in vain, for a means to refute my comments.

  • @The6sicksikhs

    (A) Pardon me. Ex - FISHING town. The mercury entered the sea around Minamata via wastewater from a chemical factory. The local shellfish & fish then became contaminated & when the townspeople ate the fish, they became poisoned. The dolphins that pass by Taiji are also contaminated, & will cause the same scenario. Mercury levels have already been recorded amongst Taiji residents as very high, & they have a mortality rate twice that of the national average.

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious

Actually the Japanese people have a higher life expectancy than any other nation. Americans eat greasy fast food and are the most unhealthy. Also the Taiji residents have traces of mercury, but no mercury poisoning. Why dont you focus on eating habits in your own country?

  • @missarizona25 Actually you didn't read my comment properly, just like The6sicksikhs... I didn't say all Japanese have a higher mortality rate. I said that the town of Taiji has a mortality rate twice as high as the rest of Japan. Google it.

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious

Shellfish does not = dolphins. So, the people of Minamata were not sickened by dolphin meat. Why do you persist in touting the risks to the small number of japanese people who eat dolphin, when you really don't care about those people at all? I think you don't even care about dolphins either.

  • @The6sicksikhs The same fate will befall Taiji... mass mercury poisoning. And YOU are the one who obviously doesn't care about these people or the dolphins. You are adamant about the Japanese people’s right to brutally massacre & eat dolphins, & thus, poison themselves. You are also the one who supports these people ending the lives of beautiful creatures in an inhumane, terror-filled, & agonizing way.

  • @The6sicksikhs I never said the people of Minamata WERE sickened by dolphin meat, lol. That's what you inferred from my comment, lol. This, coming from a guy who accused ME of misquoting YOU??? LMFAO!!! I said they suffered from mercury poisoning, from eating meat that came from the sea, regardless of whether it was shellfish, fish, dolphin, squid, or fucking deep sea worms, lol.

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious

You DID say that. Look at your comment again. Then change the adult diaper you have angrily shitted into. It sucks to be wrong. That's why I leave it to you.

  • @DolphinsAreDelicious

    You...boring...getting sleepy...

  • @The6sicksikhs That's the mercury poisoning taking hold in your system. See? You're living proof... soon to be dead proof. Hahahahaaa!!!!!

  • 2) In 2009, dolphin meat was taken off Japanese school menus because of the contamination. The levels of mercury and methylmercury in dolphin and whale meat sold at supermarkets providing the schools' lunch programs was 10 times that advised by the Japanese Health Ministry! As a result, the largest supermarket chain in Japan, Okuwa Co., permanently stopped selling dolphin meat! This all followed from “The Cove” investigation & documentary, so it was hardly a “waste of time”, or “ineffective”

  • @The6sicksikhs

    1) Highly unlikely, lol. One factor that may cause the end of the Dolphin-slaughter, is the high toxicity of the meat. It’s been found to contain high levels of mercury, cadmium, the pesticide DDT, and organic contaminants like PCBs. The levels pose a health risk for anyone eating the meat, and researchers warn that children and pregnant women shouldn't eat the meat at all. Because of the health concerns, the price of dolphin meat has dropped a lot.

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious

Since the dawn of man, we have been competing for food. Not just with ourselves but with other animals. Fish is a huge source of sustenance for an island nation like Japan. Dolphins also eat fish. Dead dolphins cannot eat fish but may themselves be eaten. That means more fish and food for humans. Thinning out the competition. Why do you mention the risks of mercury when YOU don't eat dolphin and only a very, VERY small number of japanese do and they are aware of the risk?

  • @The6sicksikhs I mention it because it will eventually make everyone not want to eat dolphins from there because they're contaminated. Duhhh.

  • @The6sicksikhs "I knew about dolphin hunting back in the 80's. In fact, I remember the documentary on television." Goody for you! You get a star on the fridge! But I guess you didn't really read my comment properly. Once again, my point was, there are lots of young people today that weren't even alive in the 80's, who are now sensitive to environmental issues & animal rights. Now they get to have THEIR own dolphin documentary that they can fondly remember 25 years from now - The Cove! Ta Da!

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious...Too bad the young people get movie that would rather stir their emotions than tell the truth.

  • @The6sicksikhs Of course it told the truth... an inconvenient truth that people like you don't want too face. LMAO! You can say it was untruthful until you're red in the face, but that doesn't make it so. If you're convinced it's untruthful, then PROVE it, empirically! So far you haven't. Until you do, it stands as truth. You fail again.

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious...Consider that Japan has been hunting whales and dolphins for possibly more than 1,000 years, I don't think they are going to feel embarrassed any time soon considering that they just extended this years hunt. Concerning the "World Whaling Commission"...well, there is no such thing, but there is an International Whaling Commission, which by the way, in NO WAY regulates Japan's fishing within it's Economic Exclusion Zone. The IWC doesn't have any power to stop them.

  • @The6sicksikhs "Consider that ... years hunt."

So what you are saying then, is that the Japanese government & these fisherman are hopeless idiots that will never change their ways. Interesting. Thanks for your perspective.

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious...If you are going to put my comments in quotes, try not to misquote me. Very sloppy of you. And I didn't say anyone was stupid. Those are YOUR words, not mine.

  • @The6sicksikhs PMS? I didn't misquote u. I put the beginning & end of your comments in parentheses, w/ " ... " in between. Common quotation practice, when there's no room to reprint the whole text. It's my paraphrasing & interpretation of your comments that u incorrectly refer to as a "misquote", lol. Take a college course to familiarize yourself w/ the techniques & jargon. If ur knowledge in that area is any indication of your "expertise" in the dolphin issue, u'd best quit while you're behind!

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious...Oh, you didn't misquote me? Look again. I never called anyone idiots. You implied that I did.

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious...and there is a world of difference between paraphrasing and attempting to put words in the mouths of others.

  • @The6sicksikhs Once again, you're not reading my comments properly. You're misrepresenting ME! You left out that I said I interpreted your comment. My reply to you was my interpretation. I'm free to interpret it any way I want. It's my opinion. Sorry, but you fail once again.

  • @missarizona25 You're right! They digitally edited out fishermen slicing pieces off a dolphin to eat while still alive, writhing & squawking. They knew it would sicken people. To avoid an R rating, they also digitally altered a scene with the bully fisherman, "Private Space", who bit a protester's ear, drawing blood. Instead it just looks like he's leaning in close to intimidate or talk. I’m glad you think these Japanese are inhuman butchers too!

  • @missarizona25 "Who told u that one?" Answer: same source that told YOU the film images were altered. Or was that just ur opinion? Haha! As for my negative feelings towards Muslims, only the ones that support Sharia Law, & treat women the same way these fishermen treat dolphins. If u had a shred of decency, u'd also be concerned about these dolphins, as well as the victims of Islamic fundamentalism. But u r obviously cold & uncaring. God knows what goes on inside u to make u that way. I pity u.

  • The movie "The Cove" lacks candor.

  • To me, the only issue with making it in Japanese is how would you get advertising and get it on screens there???? Its highly unlikely that the government there would allow a movie to be played that tells Japanese people bad things about its own country and not to eat one of there main sources of food! We as a 'Western World' need to understand what is going on around us even if it doesn't effect us greatly! And whether it was made for money or not it has uncovered a MASSIVE secret. ot of letters

  • I love the Cove, I thought it was very powerful and well-made. I am an Animal Activist, etc etc. But I partially agree with this dude. It would have been better to have made the film in Japanese and it would have been better to have focused on the dolphin slaughter. As for money, well we live in a day and age where EVERYTHING is about money. There is nothing major that I am aware of that is being done for without a profit.

  • @MsBenny00 just because those animals are less intelligent than dolphins, doesn't mean that they don't deserve the same right to live!

  • @MsBenny00 not all cows/pigs/chickens are killed humanely in the US. just watch the youtube vid "farm to fridge," it'll change your life. and secondly, just because pigs and cows aren't as intelligent as dolphins doesn't mean that it's ok if they're killed. it's like saying it's fine if a stupid person is murdered, but not a smart person. i'm not trying to start an argument, btw.

  • @LovelyMaiii I'll try and watch that but i'll feel the same about those animals as i do about dolphns. I don't understand why people are asking me about pigs, cows and chickens when i'm only commenting on this site because it's ABOUT dolphins . I never said dolphins shouldn't be killed because they're intelligent i simply stated a fact that dolphins are intelligent i never said that's why i disagree with them being killed.

  • i actually agree with you, their style for the movie wasnt in favor for the people of japan. I agree with you in that they should have done the video in a different way so that it inspires everyone to make a difference and not just people from the west, like myself. But i am glad that I watched the movie because now I am inspired to help dolphins all around the world. I hope people of this planet can stop and take a moment to realize just how important the oceans are to everyone and everything.

  • From : Humbler25

    To : The6sicksikhs

Ya well... It's also within the legal rights of Muslims in THEIR countries to stone women to death for petty things, cut off their clits, behead people for insulting Muhammad, & kill adults who commit apostasy - leaving the religion of Islam. It may be legal undrer Sharia Law, but that doesn't make it MORAL or ethically right!!!!! What a FAIL argument you presented! [sic]

  • @Humbler25

Comparing dolphin hunting to the atrocities man visits upon his fellow man is like comparing a circle to a square. Not the same. But you've presented an excellent "straw man" argument. Bravo! But I ain't bitin'. There is a distinction between animal rights and human rights. The dolphins hunted in Japan aren't killed over religion or politics. They are not killed out of malice, nor are they having their "clits" cut off (and they are not being stoned either). Morals and ethics? Whose?

  • To : whomever................

I know a couple of my comments look odd. Let me explain. I got a reply from a "Humbler25" but for some reason I can't find the comment in the comments section here. Odd. And NO it wasn't a personal message. I thought so too, at first so I tried to send my buddy "Humbler25" a personal message in reply but Youtube says "channel not available". Odd indeed. Usually, I ignore rants. I thought I would try my best to respond and this is what you get. Anyway.

  • @defyignorance @brendanraymond I'm sorry if i offened any of you but i just disagree with the way these dolphins are being killed and i understand that your just trying to defend your country and things. I would never not like a person who eats dolphin i would just disagree with that part of them. I know that Japan has a different tradition but that doesn't make it right.

  • @MsBenny00 actually I dont really agree with the way they kill them, as it can be done better with todays technology, but I disagree with bashing another culture just because its different.

  • @brendanraymond I'm glad that we both feel the same on the killing part but I'm not bashing someones culture just for the fun of it I have nothing against the Japanese, I think they have one of the most interesting cultures in the world, I just disagrre with some of the Japanese who are killing these dolphins in such a horrible way.

  • Actually if you watch the movie they still sell dolphin meat and say it is something other than dolphin. They did test on the meat and figured out what the label said was fake and it was actually dolphin meat. So even though japanese say "i dont eat dolphin meat" they might/probably have. Also it's not just about trying to stop japanese from hunting and eating them it talks alot about how seaworld (aka westerners) and other places that train dolphins should stop. Really..... watch the movie

  • @brendanraymond ummm ur doing the exact same thing as i am arguing ur point there's nothing wrong with that is there or do u have another pointless complaint against that aswell

  • @brendanraymond Look i'm only saying that the way these dolphins are killed is horrible that's been my point the whole way through i'm not saying that they have more rights than any other animal but all animal have some rights and these dolphins have had their rights ignored!!

  • .|.

  • @beaverlover22 "Up north"? 97% of your seal hunting takes place in the Gulf of St Lawrence & off of Newfoundland by commercial hunters. Only 3% is by the Inuit or indigenous in Canada's far north. The Canadian Department of Fisheries set the 2011 quota at an astounding 330,000 seals (1 out of every 16 seals in NW Atlantic). More than any other country. There r no penalties for going over quota! They allow butchering of seals as young as 12 days old. Russia's seals have to be at least a year old!

  • @MuslimsAreMalicious i refer you to your own comments

    April 17, 2011

"I don’t know if this will help, but in the country where I live, we discipline a child by inserting two glass vials containing Dermestes Maculatas beetles into the child’s ears . The vials are heated with a lighter, forcing the beetles to dig into the child’s head to escape the heat. At same time, a rubber tube is inserted into the child’s urethra & cayenne pepper is sprayed into it."

  • @beaverlover22 So says the hypocrite who lives in Canada where they hunt baby seals by smashing them over the head again & again while they scream & flail, blood everywhere on the snow. You are disgusting.

  • Is it just me, or does Whale Wars and The Cove primarily cause racism and disdain and do nothing to stop the problems they "want" to "solve?"

  • @ShindentheGreat It's just you. Take a pill. Maybe a cyanide one....

  • @defyignorance So u r arguing against me but any way man using cows for food doesn't make the cows intelligent and the same with pigs. You need to sort out ur debate!!

  • @defyignorance Physical labour doesn't make cows intelligent and doing things for mankind doesn't make them intelligent either! I never said that the reason why dolphins shouldn't be killed is because they're too intelligent I think it should stop cos it's damn right disgracful, When i said they were clever I was simply expanding your knowledge on dolphins. I never said that swimming and doing tricks is clever but their brain ability is far larger than most animals.

  • @defyignorance Also dolphins can't learn to stay away from Japan if it's not happening to them until they get caught. They won't now what happens unless they come back to life and tell the others!!!!!
