The world is evidence of Jesus, just look around you! The bible has never been shown to be wrong about anything, so why do we doubt that it is right about the things that we haven't yet been able to prove?
@tacojohn9 I can't tell if you are poeing or not. But I could claim that the world is evidence of my pet dragon. Can you prove me wrong? If you make a claim like Jesus = Reality you better have evidence or at least a half way decent argument for it. Other than you, your friends and your book says so. Do you have anything like that?
Sorry, I am poeing. I wanted to make you feel better about not having anyone troll your videos. I was going to try to keep the argument up, but I'd feel bad. Just wait for a couple of minutes and I will see if I can drum up a real crazy christian person.
There was a study done that supposedly correlated atheism and societal health. I've heard it mentioned a few times but there is only one video about it and the link is broken. Maybe (muse permitting) you could do a vid on how to verify scientific studies. Thanks for the great work.
for some reason the strangely long pause in all of your intros between the words "evening" and "youtube" really pisses me off. other than that second i enjoy your videos.
You are a multi-dimensional space-hamster that is controlling a human body through space waves? What a ridiculous claim for *I* am the ONLY multi-dimensional space-hamster that is controlling a human body through space waves. I have it writing right here inside my tube. Prove me wrong, I dare you, fraud!. Pffff. (Now if only I could scratch that itch on my butt...)
The definition of pedantic that I usually see is:"excessively concerned with minor details or rules; overscrupulous" I am curios about your usage and source for the definition.
Excellent video as usual. Keep it up, you homo... sapiens. TheLivingDinosaur sent me btw, glad I looked at your channel. :) *subscribes and antagonizes*
@adecadentsong (Grin) OK maybe someday I will do a video dedicated to it. I will have to hit up my master for the history and background beyond the 8 drunken immortals.
Wonderfully narrated, and a great collection of images.
When i started watching video's here on youtube regarding the theist/atheist debates some 3,4 years ago, there seemed to be quite a few vocal christians on here stepping up to the plate to put thier point of view, it's been quite noticeable that they have become less and less. Very few seem to want to put their head above the parapet nowadays.
@bonnie43uk I think that one reason we don't see a great deal of sane, rational theists making videos these days is two fold. One they might be hesitant to be debunked and have to rethink a great deal of what they believe. Which is intimating in of itself. There also the possibility of being pwned into oblivion. While fun to watch I personally would never want to catch the ire of The Living Dino for example. What do you think?
I've encountered many Atheists who don't seem to understand the burden of proof either. They think because they reject one claim (God exists) they don't need to show evidence of any claim they make (i.e. all theists are delusional)
@OtherGonzo If there are no deities yet theists believe there are, all theists are deluded. Since there is no evidence for the existence of any gods, and no need for them at all, Occam's Razor tells us that a reasonable position is to assume that there are no gods. While this is a position requiring evidence philosophically, within a slight margin of error it is reasonable to assume that all theists are delusional. In everyday speech we can get away with it. In a debate, not so much.
@OtherGonzo I'm not sure, let me see if I can get it through my thick skull. I think you mean that the near-absolute certainty of theistic delusion, confirmed by thousands of years of theists' failure to provide any shred of reliable evidence, is still not good enough for casual conversation. If a scientific hypothesis failed for thousands of years despite millions of people trying desperately to prove it, what word might we use to describe those who insist that it is accurate?
@OtherGonzo Are you talking about the one that claims mass delusion is not delusion, because they created the definition at a time when they needed to appease the religious to avoid correctly diagnosing religious delusion? That definition?
@OtherGonzo The DSM-IV definition, which I assumed you were referring to, concerns Delusional Disorder, not delusion. Delusion is:
an idiosyncratic belief or impression maintained despite being contradicted by reality or rational argument, typically as a symptom of mental disorder
-Oxford
something that is falsely or delusively believed or propagated
-Merriam-Webster
a belief held in the face of evidence to the contrary, that is resistant to all reason
Fabulous to see another vid from you. Can't watch it at the moment, but I'll be happy to give you my thoughts in a day or so. Your work is always great to see.
@WanderingTaoist101 so, continuing from the previous comment, a given statement, given a framework of congruous conditions, could be either true or false, depending on your liking. for reference, see "Kurt Godel, incompleteness theorems", there are various articles, even the wikipedia one is decent (from a math standpoint at least, i don't know for the undestanding....).
@theVulcanGuy OK let me state the limits of my education here. I have no idea of what exists in math can apply to everything in the real world. Especially to the claims made by our fundie friends. I read the entry you told me about and could not make heads or tails of it. So as much as I do not want to I cannot give an well informed response to your question. Sorry but I just know nothing about Kurt Godel or any of his work. That's the best response I can give you.
@WanderingTaoist101 Just idly thinking: The Bhagavad Gita is interesting. It starts off very much like the Tao Te Ching. Peaceful meditation and all that. And then, halfway through, it takes an abrupt turn toward the bizarrely, disturbingly Biblical. I bet if you start there you can find some inspiration.
The only thing I would add would be "The Burden of Proof is on the one making the POSITIVE claim."
The most common shifting of the burden done by religion is to say that we are claiming that "God does not exist" (How many of us are actually claiming that doesn't matter). But since proving a negative requires an unreasonable amount of proof while proving a positive doesn't, the burden should be placed on them for advocating it rather than us for denying it.
@WanderingTaoist101 Brotha. My head banging on the desk is often accompanied by tightly shut eyes with prolonged painful moans, expressing awe for the mindboggling stupidity and dishonestly, also disappointment in our species.
He's also a communist and feeds puppies to babies. Then he eats those babies.
Not to mention he actually believes in God but fools himself because he wants to live a life of sin and he worships Satan and he's also a Muslim somehow.

The only way I see to prove your claim is to prove that any and all gods do not exist.
BTW, The New Oxford American Dictionary includes the phrase "what is generally accepted as reality"
Just FYI
