All you people on here making the snotty comments on here are the ones who really suck! And if you can't come away from this video learning something it's because you're stupid. You're the type musicians who walk around with some inflated egos when you ain't about shit. Or you can't even play at all so you're jealous or something. Music is about sharing ideas and perfecting an art form, not running around like some juvenile twit making smartelic remarks. And no he wasn't speeding up.
in the begging of this did any body notice that he skip like two rights stokes and two left hand stokes like 0:25 to 31 he skip four notes check it out '
ahah 1st grade solo? should be played at speed on first sight. geez, these "experts" kill me
neatly encouraging people thats alright making mistakes while playing to an audience? since when? it happens, of course it does but you can't say it like that. not when you're supposedly giving a lesson on how to prepare a snare solo. the purpose of preparing it is to leave it flawless.
lol, I thought I commited a mistake while reading, but after reading the comments I'm sure the "expert village" guy is wrong. This is why I hate this company. They suck at skateboarding as well. lol
@wheelholder12 lol...mybad brah, but I am surprised I am the only one that caught it, it is so obvious, I was following a long and I was like I don't understand why I am behind and that is why
why does his accents sound like he is forcing the stick against the head (sort of like a buzz sound) and he fucked up on the second measure. fuck this lol
And furthermore, I play quints in my marching band (five drums) i am a rookie and i try my hardest, i'm second chair in my school (with one year of playing) Solo? That is not what i consider a solo, first of all, its miserably slow, second that accents are all in obvious places, and finally, it doesnt even sound good....you could have the best snare in the world and people would still look and say "Damn, What The Hell Was That?" And expertville? Doesn't it in reality read amateurville?
Time Out, When did you start playing, I've been playing for a year, I staring the beginning of my eighth grade year....I'm currently in ninth (Just in case someone cannot do that math) I am so much better than that, COME ON!!!!! Just Quit Being A Percussionist (that implies you can play more than a snare which you cant even do) I'm spending nine hours a day practicing and marching.......I would at least expect you to respect the drumming community and make 30 minutes a day to practice
I never comment on these sorts of things but this guy angered me so much that I feel I have to comment....He's doing a tuition video on chart reading and can't even manage to read through that correctly! I hope he reads this comment and gives up!!!
Lmao I'm an 8th grader Honor Band Percussionist/Baritone player, and even I could sight read this with ease. For me to get to the High school band, I have to play a Senior piece....which is way harder than this. Flams and such. :o
Yep. But I got though it by cheating. :P The guy wasn't looking, so I remember how it sounded, so thankfully I didn't have to switch because there were stickings. :D So he was just moving his head up and down while looking at his scoring paper. And the Band Director for the Highschool said I did a good job. :D
um i dont mean to burst your bubble but thats pitiful you're having trouble with flams at an eighth grade level. maybe i could understand if your piece had things like cheeses or book reports because i wouldnt expect you to play those in eight grade but i mean flams? come on.....
Na, I started band in 6th grade, but my parents didn't have the money to put me in Percussion, so I got in band with an instrument that the school provides. Which was the Baritone. I then went to Honor band half of the time in 7th grade, and then I dropped out and went to Percussion, and I stayed there for 3 months, and my Band Director told me that I was ready. So he put me in Honor Band. The only thing I didn't learn in beginner band was some of the flams, and fast rhythms.
haha i paused and sight read on my practice pad. Its real easy, just give names that have the same syllable structure as the set of note. For Example, 4 16th notes is Mississippi, and an 8th with 2 16th is a bone digger
this snare solo sucks man. what happened to all the good techniques tht are supposed to be in a snare solo like rolling? I am disappointed at (Expert) Village.

Suyado 3 years ago
He did in the second measure, but it is still not cut time.
2/4.
Suyado 3 years ago
so...to recap:
You corrected me on the fact that he skipped some notes, and you were wrong.
Shut the fuck up.
Where are the half-notes by the way?
ilovesolfege 3 years ago
I corrected you on the fact that he didn't skip any notes in the first measure. I was completely right.
The half note is the first note of the solo.
1 (e) & a 2.
It has two sixteenth notes on the end.
Half, sixteenth sixteenth.
Suyado 3 years ago
Oh..
So you're getting eight notes confused with sixteenths.
The first note is an eighth, hence the single beam. Are you totally retarded?
ilovesolfege 3 years ago
Half = eighth, I am thinking of beats.
You were still wrong about the cut time.
