Such a beautiful song. To me, it expresses a betrayal that I felt with an abusive boyfriend. It's such an emotional & touching song.

The song has a lot of emotion. It makes me think of an angry woman in a dark cave with stringy hair who is losing her mind. But I prefer Within Temptation's later works; they are a tad bit easier on my ears. I still appreciate the Mother Earth album though, because it is part of Within Temptation's evolution into the band I know and love today.

@DancingDead6 I know, in her early years she used a "witchey" voice to add depth to the songs. She uses it in The Dance as well. Its an interesting contrast to her usual "angelic" voice she uses in songs like Our Farewell and Forgiven.
