  • This song is getting truer and truer with the so called ADD epidemic

  • @commradedave - On second thought, I think I will follow commradedave's thought. The stuff aint no good.

  • I got a sudden urge ta grind my teephers. Then maybe i'll go out and shovel me some snow. Damn blizzard's

  • Goddamn this song is true, the fear after a week of no sleep and a ton of base is ungodly. Fuck that shit, not for me anymore.

  • Canned Heat is the best band in the world and bob hite is god.

  • I am Always shoveling snow!!!! I wish I could Quit!!! Damn

  • great song..thanks for the upload ...

  • @007dicktator true

  • Albert King "The hunter"....

  • I stopped amphetamines when I started hearing voices.

Best to stick with smoking weed, and have the occasional psychedelic trip.

  • they call me the hunter... o wait wrong song

  • @007dicktator dicksucker do something

  • amphetamines rule!!!!!!

  • Speed kills! Just look at Kowalski in the cult 1971 film Vanishing Point. Took a handfull of uppers and flew that Dodge Challenger into that construction equipment higher than a kite

  • Not bad.

  • Donovan (from England) song, "The Trip" "As I look to where I've been, The whole wide human race Has a-taken far too much Methedrine". Canned Heat, A.A. "I told her one more time "The whole wide human race has taken Far too much methedrine" She said "I don't care what a Limey says, I've got to get it on I'm not hip to the scene of a man Who come from across the pond"
  • @ibcalif: Scotland =/= England.

  • @MrForsyth91 where/what is this comment of mine anyway lol

  • @ibcalif: "Donovan (from England) song[...]"

  • @MrForsyth91 I stand corrected.

  • @ibcalif: Sorry if I came across as rude, meant nothing like that. I forgot to thank you for sharing the story behind the "limey" part, since that has always perplexed me. Just thought I would enlighten you in the same manner, though I'm sure you knew Donovan was from Scotland. ^^

  • @ibcalif: Sorry if I came across as rude/arrogant, wasn't my intention. And thanks for sharing the story behind the "limey" part, since that has always perplexed me somewhat (and it does even now, since I really like Donovan), I thought I'd return the favour, though you probably already knew Donovan was born in Scotland. ^^

  • Speed kills... but whos dying?

  • It's like Alice Cooper says; I'm a musician not a politician.

  • just a kool ol tune...!!!!!

  • coolist story, if you where from philly in the late 60's, or early 70's !

  • @ihavenolegs1986 : Why are you even reading the comments if you came for listening to canned heat? lol.

I myself always enjoy reading the crap people talk about on here, its funny how sad alot of people really are, i enjoy their narrow-mindedness :) hehe

  • @raafmaat

This level of schadenfreude is a bit sinister!

  • I would rather be strung out on heroin than speed remember speed kills

  • Reminds me of Neal Cassady. Dean Moriarty will never die though.

  • Woooopeeeee-Life in the Fast Lane--'course ya Knows to Obey that Speed Limit at All times now!!!!!! ya jest might gits a Ticket ya Really Don't want! Vaaaarooooooom-{I Can't drive 55 anyhoooo} =D

  • slu6ah q dan4o

  • There is no reasonable argument for speed...deadly drug that tears souls and families apart. Changes people forever.

Horrible shit, and you're best and safest bet is to simply walk from a speed freak for good. As sad as it is it doesn't matter who that person was...they are more than likely gone.

  • meth kills

  • there is no another solo guitar like this in 60's

  • Shit song. they shoulda taken some speed instead of writing that grandad rock.

  • @lizispagan the fuckin did take speed you fud tht was there inspirataion

  • Yes, speed kills - but only the lucky.

  • life kills ;)

  • I`m Annie and in 69 I used to comb Bob`s hair, It was a wonderful time with such nice friends, Fito is the only Canned there is here now, Antonio De La Barreda also gone R.I.P...

  • @R:It's a long, sad list: Bob, Alan, Henry, Richard, Antonio, Ronnie Baron, Hollywood Fats & Robert Lucas are gone, but original bassist Larry Taylor still plays Heat shows when Tom Waits & Kim Wilson aren't working, & lead guitarist Harvey Mandel, (almost original, he joined one gig before Woodstock), still plays many Heat gigs. (Original drummer Frank Cook's alive somewhere. Rumor is he's a psychiatrist.)

  • @RockNanok Larry Taylor is still alive.

  • @RockNanok Larry Taylor the bass player is still alive.

  • Speed Kills. Used to have that bright pink poster...thumbs up if you know which speaker and what mens magazine you could buy it out of. ;^)

  • love it. :)

  • speed kills ya'll

  • the more.... heheheheh the better......hehehehheee

  • Yup don't know why they call it speed, ain't getting nowhere fast but tha grave!

  • wow, this song hits home! i used to do speed.

  • I was told one time years ago that there are no old speed freaks. Think he was right, don't you?

  • @TBWAY999 Im still here!!....oreo.....56

  • @oreokookie1000 But are you still doing speed like you did ,say, 30 yrs. ago? You got to know what I was saying friend.

  • @TBWAY999 I don't do speed at all, although i DO extasy about twice a year...a " type " of speed...sometimes designers like 2 ct7....VERY SPORADICALLY!!!!

  • music - real music like this or death - u listen and u revive

  • kinda sounds like a song of the doors la woman album

  • schrodinger's cat same ass same ass canned heat ? ut ut gammon gammon ut ut!

  • plagiarism

    @albert king "the hunter"

  • ahhh... white cross... used to make my hair tingle and jaw hurt but damn it sure was fun

  • bullshit, look at lemmy,he had heaps of the stuff and so did i,but its not good coming down off the shit

  • "Speed Kills!"

  • @gnomecommoner slowly

  • ahhhhhhhhhh speed does u in,an gives u jaw ache,

  • Don't forget to bogie !!

  • I loved this song then and I love it now!! Like most "Heat", simple, heavy and GREAT!!!

  • here comes the good part....what an understatement

  • Listen to "annie dog" from Smashing pumpkins, nice cit. of this tune!

  • wooooo METH

  • This solo is so fucken great!

  • Amazing...

  • 7 people want Annie to keep speeding.....

  • @virus91 @fattybastard2000 you two suck. Way to be self worshiping ass holes. Little did you know (obviously) every single other person that comes here only wants to listen to some canned heat. And when we go down to comment about how bad ass it is, we get you two. Thanks for ruining my last 5 minutes by being selfish two year olds.

  • this song has a message people, don't you know?

  • Oh yeah, and Canned Heat are smoooooth

  • Discussions like this cause people to become murderers, for example, I want to kill you all for your pseudo-intelligent self love and terribly inaccurate socio-political rhetoric

  • than dont read the comments and listen to the music

  • what the feck is all this socialist?fachist shit doing on this truly memorable chunk of foot tapping music? chill out and get a life, thought i was on some political page of you tube not a music one

  • speed may kill but it pays the bill

  • wooow. why are yall discussing this crap on here. SHUT UP. i can here for canned heat..yall came for a nazi fascist conversation. sod off. seriously.

  • @ihavenolegs1986 Man, learn to be more tolerant or at least ignore things better.

  • @KingofMars62 & @fattybastard2000

You both are not quite right. NS regime was fascist, there was no link to socialism in the red way. But when you belonged to the volksgemeinschaft, the german people (that means that you have to be aryan), then it was like in a socialist society.

  • la felicità sta dove pensi sia!

  • Oh yeah ma brotha pass da pipe! .-)

  • This man speaks the truth.

  • Uhh...if anyone is interested in discussing the toon itself...anyone ever notice the music is a direct lift from "The Hunter" by Albert King. Except for VEstine's solo..he was an absolute motherfucker

  • speeeeeeeds fun....ex is fun so much fun....

  • just my braincells

  • why am i still alive ? :p

  • I love when he says "make it CRYSTAL clear". Wonder if that pun was intentional?

  • Amphetamine killed the peace and love attitude in the Haight heroine didn't help the cause to much either I suppose. But WTF it was a stone gas as long as it lasted.

  • @ChronicEnlightenment I hate weed snobs. Just because weed gets you off doesn't mean it has to get everyone off. Just let it be. You enjoy your buzz and let me enjoy mine. With that attitude you ain't no better than the fucktards who keep the smoke underground.

  • Gotta love youtube hey, discussion about a canned heat song somehow turns into a moral debate about socialism and how bad the US government is...oh wait....every youtube discussion ends like that

  • @MrBB102 Not much else is there?

  • @JZarter You must be either sarcastic or American

  • @MrBB102 Your right, you are always right, you are the paragon of rightness,

  • @JZarter "your right"? My right what smartass? Shoe? Ear? My right lung?

  • @MrBB102 LOOOL

  • @MrBB102 as it should lolz

  • @MrBB102 heheheheeeeee.........

  • @MrBB102 could be worse, could b a discussion about justin bieber lol

  • listen to its LYRICS all yo !

  • I had this album back in the day - oh shit, not another old fart...I love the guitar player's playing, hate the fuzz! He's better than that.

  • @bamboosa fuzz=attitude (in a well measured dose, albeit) this fuzz is tasteful, i agree sometimes it gets a bit much, but in this case it really just goes with the theme of the music. im rambling.

  • Ambphetamines are life imrovipng drugs unless youre just some junkie prone to addiction.

  • @alchoholic20 your name seems to make your comment ironic!!

  • what??????????

  • @ChronicEnlightenment I love weed, but I do need to say, cannabis is a psychedelic, it does change your perception of reality, the way you think, but that doesn't have to be in a bad way, it's just a way wich others don't always understand ;-)

  • Yea - bla bla bla - but Drug SONGS are COOL! Everybody sing..."SPEED KILLS!"

  • Caffeine is the gateway to all that harder speed that kills or ages you by 30 or 40 years.Meth mouth anyone?

  • @namniekib lol are you taking the piss? if you drink coffee you will get addicted to meth? i dont agree that there are ANY gateway drugs, just weak minded fools who aren't willing to take control of their lives and get dragged into drugs (and by drugs i mean hard drugs, i will happily admit i have been smoking weed for god knows how long now but have never felt the slightest temptation to try anything harder)

  • Caffeine is a drug I've wrestled with for many years but luckily,I know how to wean from it without too many harsh side effects. It's true that some people never wanna come down from their drug of choice and move on to harder drugs in the same category. As far as weed is concerned,it's very difficult to know what you're getting. You might just have a low thc stash which wouldn't do much of anything and have little or no withdrawal.Hash is a whole other story.

  • @namniekib lol you've obviously never tried my weed :P lmao but seriously, yeah i know what you mean, hash is horrible, in britain its usually mixed with vinyl, old boots, rubber, dog sh*t, anything to make it weigh more so they can make more money, it just gets ground down, mixed then re-pressed

  • @rmartin232 the same thing goes for my drug of choice. very rarely is it anything near pure. Unless you know the right ppl.

  • @namniekib

LMAO are you kidding me? Caffeine LLOLOLOL

  • I have known Canned Heat since 1967. Fito de la Parra played drums with me in The Sot Weed Factor Blues Band (Original Sound Records for the Love Summer of ’67. Someone mistakenly called Henry Vestine the wrong nickname. He was known as The Sunflower. Funny, we all thought all those drugs & alcohol would kill Henry. It was 2 packs of Marlborough Reds per day. Moral: DON’T SMOKE CIGARETTS! It was horrible watching him gasping for air.

I'm proud that he was my friend.

    Jeff Austin Addison.

  • I have known Canned Heat personally since 1967. Fito de la Parra played drums in my blues band, The Sot Weed Factor Blues Band for all of 1967. We played with the Doors at the Hullabaloo Club on Sunset & Vine (don’t believe that stupid Doors Movie – I knew Jim Morrison personally. We used to walk the streets of Hollywood after the gig going to Canter’s Deli (open all night) where we selected which lucky girls were going to buy us breakfast. He was NOT like Val acted in that movie.

  • nowt like shovellin snow

  • @ChronicEnlightenment Grow up and do a real drug, then create a youtube account preaching about some shit that a common 14 year old does.

  • this is music!

  • @ChronicEnlightenment causes more mental illness than any other drug. thats why holland has more mentally ill pot smokers than anywhere else on earth. the drugs dont work, but i know ill see its face again.

  • @fuckinthrasher76

So so so so wrong in every way.

Marijuana has the potential to bring out a mental illness you were already predisposed too...

Amp can actually create a mental illness you were never supposed to have.

    It's called an "amphetamine psychosis"

Do not even try to spread that b.s here.

And your argument is pointless, Holland has pot legal.

Which means obviously there are more pot smokers.

  • @BobMarleyLurks im half dutch and have lived in holland you muppet, and the % of people that smoke it in holland is a lot less than most european countrys. weed, speed, heroin, ecstacy and all drugs including alchohol can give you psychosis if you do enough of it. if you were 'predisposed' to a mental illness, but didnt have the symptoms until you smoked weed, then its the weed that made you mentally ill! ive seen it happen to people i know, and after 20years im not the same person either.

  • @fuckinthrasher76

The only reason more mentally ill people may do it is because more people do it there. Simple.

  • @rmartin232 that 'random quote' was the title of a famous song by the verve.

how that makes someone look like a faggot i'll never know. but if you've got faggots on your mind, well, that says a lot more about you than it does me. goodbye waster.

  • Amazing baddass blues! Love it and great guitar solo!

  • that fucking rock

  • At the vocals its Bob "The Bear" Hite. Awesome band.

  • @ChronicEnlightenment Amen, brother!

  • NO SUGAR TONIGHT 1970 Oh maybe so!

  • Remember these words equal whats already been foretold... and once you remember that then youll see... youre steel

  • i want you to heat it up... remember my words

  • id much rather be on downers then uppers or speed. never been to fond of it, i know the who (besides roger) loved to take speed and play surf music haha.

  • whos vocals?

  • They had meth back then, but they shot it instead of smoking it

  • All you young drug users have to do to get the message is look at an old drug user.

  • LOVE THIS SONG!

  • Speed gives me the shits

  • @MrJLHooker haha doesnt it... it does it inn damn near every form

  • @ChronicEnlightenment b.s. I have known potheads and all they do is bring misery to their families...

    pot is for losers...

  • Just Fito and Larry remain from the five in this photo. So sad.

  • kedvenc

  • <3 amphets

  • @Satanvincent

    Speed's gross.

  • Cant you numb nuts just appreciate a great, fun, but topical song without picking it apart to death and talking freaking politics!?

  • @Winterstick549

    AMEN BROTHER!

  • Can you believe how prophetic to have been written in the sixties? Yall need to check out the Halleluja album. Especially Sic'em Pigs!

  • @slikrik692 ----this song was actually pretty timely in its day. speed use has been a problem in the u.s. since fighter pilots came back from world war 2 with a taste for it (they got it i believe in the air force). astronauts used it during re-entry in the 60s. its been all over the place for quite a while.

  • I think I knew her.

  • Is this 60's or early 70's?

  • Ain't got nothing to do with Che...has everything to do with getting busted in Denver

  • @T9ODawg - word...

  • speed is good stuff haha = )

  • Canned Heat played at woodstock. Remember woodstock? the summer of 69, festival of peace and love. I just dont get the people who get on these channels and post so much hate. I believe and it just is my opinion that Bob "the bear" Hite and "Blind Al Wilson" would not entertain any of the foolishness of these post. its about love man not hate this music is not recorded for dextarity to be used as a platform for hate.

  • The pinnacle of double entendres...all hail Blind Owl and The Bear

  • your all talking bollocks, just get with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey King ... I hate to break it to ya but ... Che hated degenerate musicians ... better do some reading ...

  • @Griddercritter - I don't really care about Che...contrary to popular opinion. I use it just to drive conservatives in the US crazy, watch them go into convulsions and have conniption fits when they see it. What I am saying with it was as bad a person as Che was the US government has killed so many more people in the name of freedom, liberty and the capitalist way that it makes what Che did look like child's play. And if by being liberal that means I am a socialist...I'll show 'em a socialist

  • @KingofMars62 Amen, Brother!

  • @KingofMars62: Hey, KingofMars62, You know, maybe America just isn't for you. Don't you realize that your tax dollars pay for America's war machine? Doesn't that make you complicit in it's atrocities? Why not renounce your citizenship and move to the socialist workers paradise of your choice? There are flights leaving every hour from any airport you choose. Cuba? Venezuela? Ah, but we know you aren't going anywhere are you? No, you're staying right here. That's what makes you truly pathetic.

  • @KingofMars62 chavez stucket it to the united states governmentment.....right on baby!

  • @KingofMars62 im asocialist....... love excsatcy....xctay.....whatever.....I am 56 yrd old

  • @KingofMars62 how about you do some reasearch as to how many people Stalin, Mao, Hitler, and Kim have killed. (All socialists)

  • @fattybastard2000 - First off Hitler was a fascist. Which is the ideological opposite of socialism. Mao and Stalin were dictators who claimed they were communist/socialist. You do understand that socialism is an ideology of the people, right? The self government thingy. Nothing like what Mao and Stalin stood for. But the thing which really bothers me is people trying to pass off a fascist, Hitler, as someone from the political left when he wasn't.

  • @KingofMars62 Let me name you Hitlers party. Nazi ( Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or The National Socialist German Workers' Party).

  • @fattybastard2000 - And let me repeat...I don't care what they "called" themselves, they were fascists. Fascists in Germany tried to purge all the communists and socialists from the country. Then then attacked the USSR which was supposedly a communist regime that would be a natural ally of Nazi Germany if it were in fact socialist. You can have your own opinion but not your own facts. And the fact of the matter is Nazi Germany was a fascist state and in no way socialist despite their claims.

  • @KingofMars62 The "National Socialist" name was a bit weird in the european context. It actually originated with a party in Czechoslovakia that was actually pretty moderate, and neither particularly Nationalist nor Socialist. Although the original 1920 Nazi program contains many very populist elements, very little of it was implemented once Hitler had power. The right in europe has always traditionally been somewhat statist; their difference from the left was in how they used that state power.

  • @fattybastard2000 are you afraid that if America becomes socialist we will become genocidal murderers? I demand to see your research!

  • @vrus91 No, all I'm saying is that all the genocidal murderers this century have all sprung out of socialism, and that socialism was the means to their (individual) ends. Read Friedrich Hayek Road to surfdom for one and also this article by Dr John Ray 'Hitler was a socialist' (its on google)

And with America. To implement socialism on a Capitalist nation which prides itself on individual liberty, your asking for civil war, which usually gets settled with a dictator.

  • @fattybastard2000 and all I'm saying is there have been plenty of genocidal murderers came from other political parties. As far as implementing it on america: *cough*MedicarePoliceFirefightersandPostoffice*cough*

  • @vrus91 name me some please

  • @fattybastard2000 scaruffi.com/politics/dictat.html
