  • best 240p quality video ever!

  • there is not time to analyse ... love

  • 8 dislikes = Coldplay fans. poor lads.

  • i smiled when he clapped to himself at the very end

  • beautiful,

  • Best track on Eraser, I think. Really beautiful.

  • one of our generation's best male voices, if not the best.

  • This song haunts my soul.

  • animo mujer !!

  • yeah well, comment then.... ok, this is genius.

  • he is sooooo beautiful

  • My favorite line of this song is, "You've traveled far, what have you found?" That speaks to me so deeply. It makes me just look down and go, oh my god, he is right.

  • The next John Lennon!

  • @trok313 or the first Thom Yorke

  • I just adore how much pain and feeling he can put in his voice, at one point quite and almost hiding, but then screaming the things that his soul wants to scream

  • Think Things Through, Make Sense.

  • awww, I love him to death!

  • I feel sorry for the people who can't understand this.

  • - in rolling reems across your screens - in algebra - in algebra

no time to analyse - no time to make sense

    BLOOMBERG

  • Real music, every time I listen radiohead I totally forget everything around

  • who knows what kind of microphone that is?!

  • i wish i had a beard

  • Thom Yorke worship is so played out. He's brilliant. We all knew that 10 f---ing years ago. The other members of that group deserve just as much credit, esp. the Greenwood brothers.

  • @bongzynskywycz i know im a HUGE RH fan and am getting pissed at other fans forgetting the rest of the band i mean has anyone ever even seen them record an album? Its a full band effort not just Thom and not just Jonny. If it was then Phil, Ed, and Collin would have left a long time ago.

  • @okcomputeA

Yeah, I feel people really underestimate the other band mates. I've heard comments from thom yorke saying he finds it very hard to actually finish a piece of work. That coupled with the huge differences between solo work and radiohead show the importance of the other members.

  • I wonder what a hug from Yorke would be like? My best guess is it would be passionate, warm, and comforting like his music.

  • radioheadは聴いた事無いが、Prestigeのエンドロールのこれはカッケー

    トムヨークって良い声質持ってんだな 眼つきもインパクトがあるw cool!

  • Thom Yorke has accomplished a lot, his way of expression through his music is unique and not many artists can do what he does. Music has forever lost soul and purpose, except the few that carry this out.

  • 8 people have analysed this song but didn't think things through, to make sense...

  • Genius Thom Yorke..

  • I like how he ended the song at 4:47 What he did with his hands there. :D Funny. :D

  • He is a Genius ......

  • i glad Thom Yorke fans are smart enough to prove that douche's comment is true

  • @kadablanba : )

  • There was a fan made video of this song that's amazing. Searching for the song here will find it.

  • No light in the dark...

  • nice end!!!

  • excelente cancion, arriba tom yorke y radiohead!!!

  • "The highest rated comments are by pretentious duches"...

I definately prefer dumb people who are in peace with being dumb...

hey, dipshit, why don't you try and make the effort to say something useful all by yourself?

  • beautiful

  • I can't stop listening to this song...

  • class tune...end of....8 dislikes from just bieber fans

  • amazing...

  • i didn't expect it to be a highest rated comment. damn irony

  • @bradenls0 lol nicely done

  • @bradenls0 You pretentious douche! lol. Jk. I know what you meant when you said it. It is ironic that your comment became a top rated though.

  • @cbrooks0905 haha yup, the old comments were about how radiohead is better than muse, coldplay, etc

  • It's all Phrygian, it's all harmonic minor, it's all Thom Yorke. Muse follows similar musical style, but they usually dabble in a more bluesy progression (meaning chromatic progressions from m7 up to the root). Once you listen to one album of each, you can definitely make a distinction. Learn what music is before acting like you can judge what is the same and what's different.

  • Why bother talking about Muse? Why bother? WHY?

  • The only thing human about this was the cough at the end

  • @farizzal

    FARAAZ

  • @Arastusamad HAHA WADDUP

    you found me again

  • @farizzal LOL :D

  • @farizzal I can't tell if this is an insult or a compliment...

  • @Unnamed0909 totally a compliment.

  • @farizzal 1000% AGREE

  • this composition is spell-bounding....somehow spiritual in a weird sense hard to describe...or define....

  • His voice...oh my god his VOICE! So much emotion so much pain almost too much to handle.

Such vocal purity. There are only a few vocalists that have such quality. Jeff Buckley, Tori Amos (the early years), Antony Hegarty...

    Love this to distraction.

  • my godness...the piano in this song...its just so beyond amazing

  • Greatness!

  • Radiohead inspired muse so obviously it's gonna be like jedi theres the master and the apprentice.

  • @Mcshitlove lovely comment!

  • I hate all these stupid trolls and people who think they are some sort of musical god and that thier opinion is better than others. Radiohead and Muse are completely different bands, they have different ideas with thier lyrics + musical approach and they both are awesome bands that we should be glad we have. Why argue over 2 insanely awesome bands?

  • I have the discography of Radiohead, Muse and Coldplay. And I have listened each and every song of all the three bands. I personally like Radiohead and Coldplay best, but that doesn't mean that Muse sucks, I can deffinately see why some people like Muse more. Music is art and art lies in the eye of the beholder. You decide which one is best, convincing other people that they should like other bands the best is like convincing me to like cheese (and I hate cheese, would never eat it)

  • @Zuanism

wrong. taste buds are different to each person. music has been calculated to mathematical relations, it's been figured out down to the decimal point. lyric writing, innovation, and use of unexplored oddities in music theory are what make a band good. not regurgitating the same shit they always have been doing.

there is a clear definition for what is good and what is bad. don't fall in with the latter category.

  • 1. radiohead are innovative and by far the most explorational band outside of their influences (aphex twin, etc...).

    2. shut the fuck up about kid a, amnesiac is better.

    3. this video is amazing.

    4. outside of a single digit number of tracks muse sucks.

    5. outside of a single digit number of tracks, coldplay sucks.

    6. outside of a single digit number of tracks, radiohead is perfect.

  • @cheezMcNASTY oh you are song wrong, muse have many more than just single digits for great tracks.

  • Why do people watch these videos, that are THE most amazing documents of the humans ability to make the impossible, and type essays of arguements about the most mundane pointless to a fucking computer the other side of the world. LISTEN. The answer is right in front of you on your screen. Not in a text box. Including mine.

  • can any radiohead or thom yorke video on youtube not turn into a massive Muse vs Radiohead arguement?!?!?

Seriously, i see no similarity between the two of them, and they are both great bands. stop your pointless arguing over the internet, you're all pathetic. Just respect the music made by some of the most talented people alive today.

  • How is it possible not to understand that Muse is nothing compared to Radiohead ?

  • @music88magic you sir are the classic radiohead fan. Muse are a great band, especially live, just like radiohead. If anything i like Radiohead more than Muse, but Muse are still a brilliant band. Listen to Origin of Symmetry and then tell me that they're nothing compared to Radiohead. Just respect the music for what it is, someones passion, dedication and love for the thing they love most, music. That's why I watched this video, for the MUSIC BECAUSE IT'S ALL THAT MATTERS.

  • Thom Yorke is a unicorn.

  • the highest rated comments are by pretentious douches

  • @bradenls0

    Hahaha oh the irony XD

  • @bradenls0 we love pretentious douches

  • @bradenls0 I'm loving the irony here

  • @bradenls0 hahahaha.. Oh the lovely irony!!

  • @bradenls0 your comment is highly rated

  • @bradenls0 Haha this is extremely ironic

  • @bradenls0 this comment is so ironic :)

  • @mordoringer no it isnt! reaally, because that wasn't the intention?

  • Comment removed

  • @bradenls0 well isnt this ironic

  • @bradenls0 what does pretentious mean?...

  • @bradenls0

    i'm sorry man, you failed

  • @bradenls0 Irony. Something poetic. No one understands me.

  • @bradenls0 aww the irony

  • @bradenls0 wow umm...this is kinda awkward

  • one of the best and emotional musicians of this planet,

i think i couldnt breath without such people...

  • if you think radiohead are that original with album Kid A... please listen Robert wyatt Rock Bottom than albums of band Can and Aphex Twin or maybe just listen song Robert Wyatt - Little Red Riding Hood Hit the Road

dont get me wrong i love Radiohead to death they blend influnces from great old abscure bands and throw it in to mainstream. All great bands did that.

  • It annoys me that he isn't #1 greatest singer of all time by the Stones. I see no reason why he shouldn't be there, but at thousand reason why he should.

    Great singer anyway.

  • Ok, ok. Calm down, people. I like Muse, I've bought two of their albums and I think they're pretty good. And I can see that their live shows are amazing. But. But. Radiohead is a legendary band, Thom Yorke is a genius. No other band in the world compares to them. Bottom line is, Muse is a really good band, Radiohead is a band that will be remembered forever.

  • Thom Yorke: A God among mortals.

  • Why oh why can't all musicians be as brilliant as Thom Yorke...

  • @DIYExplosives

Because then Thom wouldn't be Brilliant ;)

  • maybe in the beginning (pablo honey, the bends and even Ok computer) radiohead was influenced by bands like pink floyd, but that all changed when they searched the musical boundaries with kid a. After that they only grew forward to a place where music becomes magic..

  • muse and radiohead, both brilliant.

when happy i listen to muse, when going through stressful times i listen to radiohead , there is a place for both of them in my heart.

  • there is no light in the dark. ! . Radiohead stands on their own>!

  • I think that the answer is in the question Saffy.

  • pitch perfect as always! beautiful

  • Provavelmente o melhor musico de sempre!

    Incrivel!

  • *song ends.. *sniffle.. *Thom clapps to himself contently. 'Well done Thom. Well done.'

  • You should listen to the band that use to open for them: "Sigur Ros" They have a great sound to them and have earned a lot of praise

  • Pure Artl.

  • I saw this live. Amazing. Brilliant. Muse, go f&%k yourself lol

  • brilliant!

  • Thom Yorke is brilliant.

  • que interprete!!!! Grande Thom!! gracias a ti se lo que es estar en otra dimension sin usar drogas!! jaja

  • wow ... my spelling is awful sometimes.

  • Comment removed

  • I thought this album was amazing. Thom is an amazing lyrist who is getting better all the time. In Rainbows is the best lyrics yet although I realise they wont seem as clever to most. But in my opinion this is a good thing ... leaving an anlysis (pun not intended) on a piece of art is like leaving the price tag on a gift. Mixamotisis is an exception but its lifted (effectively) from Larkin... Also, Muse ??? no thank you.

  • Why is Muse being compared to Radiohead? They are two completely different bands; enjoyment can be found in both.

  • fuck that shit...muse does not even exist in the same realm as Radiohead they are fucking pussies

  • love the way he claps himself at the end

  • I thought there did not exist a better version of this song than the one he did at the Mercury awards. I was wrong.

  • The comparisons between Muse and Radiohead is tiring and I wish people would give it a rest but while we're on the subject, Radiohead are the best band of all time and Muse are SHIT.

  • Here's a good analogy: Muse is to Radiohead as Boston is to Led Zeppelin. And Muse/boston are pop sellouts heavily influenced by much better bands.

  • You cant compare Radiohead and Muse. They are completely different. If you say Muse rips off Radiohead, than you have not heard enough Muse to be talking. Just because you've heard SuperMassive Black hole, starlight, and Knight of cydonia dosent mean you know muse's style. listen to Exogenous, cave, hysteria, hoodoo, hypochondriac music, deadstar,BLISS!!,citizen erased, space dementia, then comment. The only similarity between the two, is the falsetto, and only kinda. Muse & Radiohead rock

  • @MrSandyBallz here here.

  • @MrSandyBallz

See, i don't like Muse but i don't go Trolling on Radiohead videos talking about how they suck. They're just not my band. Also, they don't even sound anything alike. It's really pointless. Sure, maybe other bands like Coldplay sound like them but they are only taking influence from Radiohead, which fans should be thankful for.

Some Radiohead fans are just musical snobs...

  • @MrSandyBallz

True, but i don't like how you misstyped 4 of those Muse songs.

Anyways, Comparing Muse and Radiohead is just plain stupid. They are completely different bands

  • @MrSandyBallz I don't think muse completely rip off Radiohead, and if they did I woudn't mind. I just think they're incredibly lame

  • @MrSandyBallz but you can't deny if Radiohead didn't exist, there was no band with the name Muse

  • @Crazycrisps 100% true

  • @Crazycrisps Im sure they would exist, probably with a different sound. But that is like saying if there was no pixes, smith, jeff buckley etc there wouldnt be a radiohead..or a different radiohead. Every musican draws inspiration from another at some piont.

  • @MrSandyBallz Are you shitting me? Go listen to " Pearly* " ( It´s an OK Computer B-side) and you´ll see where Muse got their sound from. Muse copies Radiohead daily

  • @eazzy93

Um...I don't even hear anything remotely close to Muse on that Track. If you compared Exit Music with Hyper Chondriac Music then i would have said yea they sound similar in that instance, but listen to the songs i posted and say they're ripping of radiohead

  • @MrSandyBallz I'm sorry, but even though I give the full credit of originality to Muse and their albums, you must be severely deaf not to hear "anything remotely close to Muse" on this track. The 2 bands are similar occasionally. That's all

  • @MrSandyBallz

Spot on mr sandyballz. Muse is a great rockband in their own right and their latest endeavour pretty much proves that theyre not afraid to experiment.

  • @MrSandyBallz

Hell yeah man! Exogenesis 1-3 has no Radiohead influence! mostly classical influence from Rachmaninoff. Muse owns and so does Radiohead. Don't forget Take a Bow! Another Muse great.

  • He looks so much like a musician Van Gogh at times

  • muse sucks TSSKK TSKKK

  • this is my favorite thom solo song...it's just so beautiful and meaningful. such a lovely performance.

  • I wish people would forget whatever the tangential relationship is between muse and radiohead and just listen to the fucking music...

  • This isn't a song, it's an experience

  • WTF?! There's no similarity between Muse and Radiohead, although they both are great bands. But one more thing, why are we talking about Radiohead, if this song is Thom's solo project??

  • @MisioTexas Good point...

  • it gets you down it gets you down

  • Muse first album sounded a lot like ok computer and that´s it.With Kid A Radiohead went completly different ways and muse went another way with origin of symmetry

  • What a beautiful song! I don't know why I don't own this album yet.

  • I can see why people can hear similarity between Muse and Radiohead, it's because they are both not fitting a mould which is to be encouraged. Radiohead are constantly breaking the mould, casting a new mould, filling it then breaking it again. However in defence of Muse, they are a talented group with a genius musician in Matthew Bellamy, and they are still young in their career. If they last as long as Radiohead I'm sure they will yield some spellbinding music.

  • Ok let me hear a song by Muse that is exactly the same as one of radiohead, they are to completely diferent bands, and they are both great!

  • @spoonman23 Of course none of their songs are EXACTLY alike, but "Citizen Erased" off Origin of Symmetry sounds a lot like Muse trying to do Paranoid Android. Still a good tune tho.

  • radiohead u muse; sind keineswegs vergleichbar.. complete different

  • Comment removed

  • it aint bad to be influenced.. esp. by creative music people..

its virtually impossible not to by influenced by anyone else..

but it doesnt mean Yorke copies everything his ancestors did..

most certainly not.. he only imitates the collective creativity that came from those artists as he himself wants to be an artist..

its logical and its true.. Thom York is a great artist

  • Simplemente genial...

  • I feel in love...

  • It is true that Radiohead (Thom) has a sort of lyricism that allows the listener to connect emotionally with the music that Muse (Matthew) could never compete with, songs like House Of Cards prove this. But that's no reason to count muse out; they definitely have potential.

You might not have heard of the song, I recommend you listen to "Hyper Chondriac Music", an alternative to their album song "Hyper Music". Compare it to what Thom did to "I Will" with "Like Spinning Plates". It's pure genius.

  • @JstAnothrVirtuoso You're so right re: Hyper Chondriac Music! I much prefer it to the original version actually.

  • Love the performance and the clapping at the end.

  • "Theres no TIME" Sonds like orgasums.

  • @alsointheclouds yes, yes, yes and everything before prepares it, as everything afterwards is like when it's gone..it's one of my fave..

just for you, if you really like real orgasme in musicparts (not like you meant it for this one, different...I AM NOT COMPARING, people are very sensitive in that way), look crazy Tori Amos climbing on her piano(s) that's just even too much of it, but she said she needs it , to get really into it...

  • (rant continues) ...Of course there are going to be younger bands coming through the ranks who have been influenced by possibly the greatest band in the world! (ote: greatest band = RH) Just goes to show Radiohead don't need to be pretentious music snobs when they've got so many fans prepared to play the part for them!

  • OK, here's a question:

Why is it that when Thom &Co. admit their music is a blend of influences (from the Beatles and Pink Floyd, to Miles Davis) their fans bow down to them for being so clever/cutting edge/inspired genius.

But when younger bands display the slightest Radiohead influence (ex: Coldplay, Muse) they are practically burned at the stake for committing musical blasphemy?

  • @saffyminty Radiohead were inspired by those band, yes, but theydoesn't try to copy their music style, could you find some Radiohead song that sounds like one one of the Beatles, f.e.? I bet you can't. But can you find a Coldplay song where Chris Martin doesn't try to impersonate Thom, with bad results?I bet you can't do that too.

  • @IRosaElefanti As a matter of fact I CAN name a Radiohead song that sounds very much like the Beatles: 'Lozenge of Love' for instance. Doesn't mean it's not a great tune in its own right.

As for Martin & Co... ppl always cite RH as the band they're trying to imitate - but while that may be true in many ways, IMO,Coldplay rip off U2 and Echo & the Bunnymen with just as much chutzpah ;)

  • @saffyminty I completely agree - people should stop being so snobby.

  • @saffyminty

the important thing here is that they are being ripped apart by some radiohead fans but not by people who are not radiohead fans.

psychologically this behaviour has to do with the ego and identification because these people clearly identify strongly with the band and the music. and so if someone takes the music and - one might say - forms something else of it, the ego feels that a part of it is being transformed against its will and gets angry and protective.

  • @saffyminty coldplay and muse show more than just a slight influence from radiohead. the problem is these two bands still cannot fall out of the trend of the same four-bar pattern used as the backdrop of every pop song on the radio. the melodies radiohead continue to dream up are much more creative and freshly beautiful.

  • @saffyminty Easy. Blend of influences, not copying music that radiohead released in the 90's. plus what songs of the beatles and pink floyd can you play back to back with a radiohead song and think they sound they same? Try playing let down then most muse songs and you will find there very similiar. Btw its not me who's burning them at the stake I tend to take thoms side when dealing with those bands. His response when asked about those bands is "lets see them try it with my next album"

  • @saffyminty Because they do not sound like themselves they sound like fucking radiohead...and this goes for coldplay...Muse have achieved their individuality....if noone said Radiohead were influenced by Pink Floyd you would never have known.....You here fucking Chris Martin and its like wow...your blatantly unoriginal....

  • @saffyminty I think its because they are copying them so blatantly. Maybe. Or because they are going for something similar but not doing such a good job. Or it could be because of their attitude? I mean Radiohead are all about moving forward, trying new things, always coming up with new songs, no album/song is ever the same. I think Coldplay/Muse are more all about commercialism. I think. Well that's my opinion anyway.

  • @saffyminty i think it's more the fact that people try to compare coldplay and muse to radiohead in terms of quality... they're good, but there's no comparison

  • @saffyminty Coldplay and Muse don't have comparable quality to Radiohead, but you do have a point! Did Radiohead ever get the same criticism?

  • @saffyminty its because radiohead is a truly inventive force that hides behind the music scene while muse and coldplay add absolutely nothing to the stale 4-chord formula that stains the general mainstream.

  • @froggo787 Completely agreed.

  • @froggo787

Muse are a good band, you're talking shit, they're moving forward, everyone starts exactly how their influenced. Colplay i don't care for, but it's more about the atmosphere for them. Nothing wrong with 4 chords and the truth, you just have to accept pop for pop and not be a musical snob by writing off all mainstream music.

  • @saffyminty If you are going to blatantly recognize another artist as influence, you had better be as good or better and f*cking push yourself. Even if you want to compare Muse to Radiohead*Matt Bellamy says he was influenced heavily by Tom Morello of RATM*Anyone into Muse know they push themselves every album every tour and have become themselves..Coldplay are crap..Chris Martin would suck off Thom Yorke for less than 10% of Yorkes Talent.Thom Yorke walks the Walk and Talks the Talk.

  • @saffyminty Everyone is influenced by past music. This goes back to plainchant and Palestrina and Bach. In fact ALL western music gets it's roots from the harmonies and structure going back to the middle ages. Anyone that 'burns at the stake' a band that borrows from Radiohead or any band for that matter must be a small-minded musical snob. You can't utter a verse or a musical line without some influence from a past invention. We don't live in a vacuum. Who would want to anyway? +)

  • @saffyminty Because there's a big difference between influence and transparent derivation.

  • @saffyminty Radiohead sounds nothing like any of their influences. Only in real close and careful examination could you trace the sensibilties back. Muse and Coldplay sound nothing like anything but weak tea mockeries.
