"The Elephant Man" is a powerfully moving film about a most unfortunate man with a grotesquely disfigured body and the soul of a poet. Pretty heady stuff. Yet this video made me split a gut. I'm still wiping the tears from my eyes from laughing so hard. Genuinely hilarious.
With all due respect and apologies to the memory of the great Joseph (not "John") Merrick.
Oooh, ouch! Yeahhh, that'd be an inappropriate soundtrack right there! To Writeswithafist, yes -- Treves was profiting off of Merrick, and Merrick helped his career a lot. However, whether his intention was to use him is questionable.
(And the doctors who summarized the minutes in the society were quite scandalized; they refused to address the display.)
Actually, I think the music is rather apt, because Dr. Treves was using, even profiting, in a way, off Merrick...similar to the way a stripper is used by club owners. And the docs in the audience were just as riveted as stripping audiences. Or so I've been told. I've never been to one of those places. For reals.
DAMN....that was so WRONG, yet SO RIGHT all at the same time!!!

Anthony Hopkins before everyone knew him as Hannibal Lecter. Good stuff, indeed.

Quite humorous, I was expecting H. Mancini's 'Baby Elephant Walk'. Much better choice here.

OMG! Is the Professor Anthony Hopkins?
astoroth64 3 years ago 2
Yes it is. Despite what I did to this scene, the movie is excellent. I recommend it.

Strangely enough, I think that David Lynch would get a real kick out of this.

I was watching this film last night, and I was thinking: what kind of soundtrack would be inaproppriate in this film? Again, you did a fantastic job.

Thanks! I do what I can.

They looked shocked, appalled and strangely aroused.
And apparently Treves loved Merrick's genitals.

Sure this is somewhat disrespectful, but overall it is very funny and I don't really think it is that bad.
Crazyegg1234 3 years ago
That's kind of the point for me doing these "Inappropriate Soundtracks." They fit, but they don't... if you get my meaning.
