It's funny how people who never heard music the way it suppose to sounds arguing about hi-fi. I have a lot of friends who used to do it, then they come at my place and goes 'oh my god, I never knew..' or if they all proud and shit they goes 'yeah, it's sounds great, I admit it, but I can't spend 10,000$ on that and/or I don't have a room.. blah blah'.
Excellent choice of music from an amazing album, respect sir. But my children could not afford to pay college fees let alone a setup of that value. You are most fortunate and I hope that you will appreciate what you have so early in life and enjoy all that wonderful music out there.
@anderzom . . . How's your hi-fi system coming along? I'm in the business (since 1996) and would be glad to walk you through the component selection process to best coincide with the sound you want to achieve if you would like some assistance (my services are always pro bono). Happy listening!
If I were you I wouldn't let anyone see your system. Just imagine the disrespect your robbers would have for those. I've seen pot dealers get systems like that for an ounce of weed. One guys has 3 high end systems in his garage were he works on cars. What a shame.
I've always thought of mainly two things with this audiophile stuff. The fat ass mains cables. what's good with them? It's still the same shitty cable INSIDE the wall. And the records. are all the records made with so high quality that it measures up with the system?
The xbox 360 stands out compared to the high end stuff. Nice system, My dream system would conclude of an mc 2105. Rite now I have a pretty nice system though with ads bookshelves as satellites and a polk sub and a yamaha natural sound amp.
I believe that your stereo system rocks. Sorry, please don't be offended, I respect your choice of music, but can you choose something a bit more clear?:))))
@AudiophileTubes classic rock isn't a genre genius. I'd ask you a simple question like name the members of the Beatles, but you're the typical audiophile, you couldn't answer without doing a google search.
@TeenageShutdown01 Actually you pathetic simpleton cretin, 'classic rock' is a sub-genre. It is a sub-genre of the genre 'rock'. But more importantly, any idiot like yourself that makes a blanket statement that "audiophiles listen to garbage" needs a life!
@AudiophileTubes Classic rock is a radio term, not a genre. Spend some time in record shops instead of on the hi-fi forums rook. When you actually do go, ask the clerk where the classic rock sub genre is. It will not be just you & me that know you are a retarded, so will the entire staff.
Any sites or forums dedicated to audiophiles/equipment and information? I am really looking to get into things like this but I need to find information and get some knowledge on it! Any help is appreciated! Thanks! :D
@Thugmunk Google 'Audio Advisor' or 'Crutchfield'. They are 2 excellent retailers that have a lot of information and articles in their catalogs. You can learn a good amount there as a starting point.
It is a musical preference. Some individuals like the musical and relaxed nature of tube amps and other like the fast, powerful response of solid state amps.
@vtodorow what kind of speakers are those? i have some cheap pioneer 150 watt speakers fired by my bogen challenger chb 35a modified pa head. i took it to this mcintosh place downtown from where i live and the guy there let me mess with a mcintosh amp, so i compared my amp to the mc and they sounded exactly the same!!!! except the bass on his amp was smoother and has the bass sound but not much vibration and it was a little clearer. i want some b&n speakers
actually tubes are worse than solid states, because they color the sound more (what others call the 'nice warm sound characteristics), they have a more limited frequency range and a higher total harmonic distortion, and therefore lack the ability of producing the real close-to-the -original sound that a solid state would (talking about same price categories of course)
Well my speakers are not cabridge soundworks speakers so to me, his stereo sounds like a pair of Koss M85 compact speakers powered by a Sonic Impact amp.
Of course you do realize that all this is joking right? I mean what else would it sound like if those are the speakers we're listening through. We'd have to hear it in person for it to sound different.
Nice system for college! I'm about to start college and having a system like that in a dorm is pretty sweet. I get most of my sound now through high end cans and amps. I love looking at people's systems.
@vtodorow Dude, I have a projector and I've been builidng my system up for some years now just like you, I'm 14 but I got a 140" projector screen, bose speakers, a 7.1 amp 150 watt 10 inch sub, I'm doing good! :)
@boosh222, If you want to be an audiophile, here's how to start right: Bose is an overpriced brand bent on catching people who think that the high price means better sound. This is common audiophile knowledge. Get yourself some Paradigms or Ascend Acoustics for entry level spkrs. Cans- Grado Prestige / Reference series. Turntable- Pro-Ject or Rega. Amp- Marantz, or if on a budget, a top of the line Harman/Kardon. (Always in STEREO, not that surround sound bull) Subwoofr- HSU, B&W..
@FngMutz Yeah man I know, I'm content with my bose speakers and acoustech labs 12" rears though. I got a polk center that sounds aight aswell. I also have an 140" screen for my xbox. I appreciate that you've done all that in a dorm room. Congrats! Nobody seems to be into sound quality anymore, atleast not young people. I'm actually wearing some grado headphones right now (Sr60) I'm 14 so I'm on a budget. Love to see such high quality gear though, mine is cheap but it does the job.
@vtodorow I believe that your stereo system rocks. Sorry, please don't be offended, I respect your choice of music, but can you choose something a bit more clear?:))))
monkeysee79, I guess he is in that situation and feels depressed or something, poor guy. i don't spend 6 hours a day listening to music. only 2-3 hrs. So don't worry monkeysee79 I do have time to chase girls, bars, intoxication, and music.
@vtodorow pfft! i'm 15 and i spend over 8 hrs a day listening to music, and i still have time for work, school, girls, movies, and hobbies! and of course i get LOOOTS of sleep :)
Haha We had vinyl in college too, but we listened to zepp, floyd, and beatles all while trying to figer fuck girls and spray beer on the ceiling. Nothing fancy, an old yamaha turntable and a big bitchin pair of JBLs with a crown amp. Story over.
Lovely system and Rod the Mod before he tried Sailing to the USA, great stuff.
