  • @carrotxdawg sarah silverman u homo? cmon

  • A few things to take note of before you post comments here:

    (1) There are the same number American comics here as there are British ones.

    (2) I have seen every single George Carlin HBO special. He isn't on this list because I prefer the comedians I have included, not because I don't know his stuff.

    (3) Stop complaining that there are no black comedians! Black people make up 13% of the US population! There are also no Latinos here, and they make up 16%. What is this, affirmative action?!

  • WHY THE FUCK IS DYLAN MORAN #5!!!

  • @xTheFifthBeatlex Because he's my fifth favourite comedian.

  • thanks for havin a video were they dont just play a song the whole time, I'm blind so hearing the jokes wus good. everyone else that dont at least say their names is lazy

  • Comment removed

  • Oh and btw do you know if Daniel Kitson ever plays Ireland?

  • Excellent list. Happy to see Stewart Lee, Richard Herring, D'OD and Demetri Martin in there. I would have also had George Carlin there but that's just me. As an Irishman I've always found Dylan Moran slightly overrated. His drunken-doesn't-give-a-shit manner comes across as too contrived and irritating. Just my opinion though.

  • 1.Kinison,2. Hicks,3. Pryor,4. Carlin

  • So glad to see Robert Newman getting some recognition, his History Of Oil show is one of the best I've ever seen.

  • I don't believe Demetri Martin is really funny. And what's with the guitar and piano. He just randomly plays music while doing his jokes? Hell if you're going to go for a gimmick to spice up your show why not just bring out strippers on stage. We don't need background music for a comedy show. Either play a song or put away the instrument.

  • @Leemaster94 He does play songs. Listen to "Sames and Opposites".

  • @padraic2001eire Yeah but to just randomly play piano while telling jokes. It feels gimmicky. If his jokes were really funny he wouldn't need the piano.

  • wheres chris rock

  • where is george carlin?!

  • 1.Bill Hicks, 2.George Carlin, 3,Billy Connelly, 4.Richard Pryor.............< the obvious top 4 in my opinion

  • You actually got number 1 right! Congrats!

    Bill Hicks = #1

  • With this Anglo-Saxon conflict going on, I just like to say I hope you all check out 2) Stewart Lee as a result of this list; A genuine artist and master of the craft who doesn't pander to anyone, and raises interesting points about our society today whilst being piss-your-pants funny.

All this with about 4 jokes :)

  • Good list, pretty similar to my choices would be

  • Bill Hicks is (well...was) awesome! So serious and suddenly he pokes your eye out with a really well thought joke. One of the greatest ever. But I agree, George Carlin should totally have been on the list as well.

  • What I think most people are forgetting is this... it's a fuckin' opinion. This is titled "My Top 10 Favourite Comedians". It's his choices. It's not some kind of definative list put out by the Comedy Network or Rolling Stone. Give the guy a break! (I'm just glad that you chose Mr. "decades ahead of his time" Bill Hicks as your fave, but let down that Doug Stanhope was 9th, but again, personal choice).

  • where is richard pryor

  • actually im not racist and i am british! and to make things even more better my father is white! and another thing russell howard and michael mcintyre would definitely be on my list

  • @Tupac786Jr Right, well, any moral high ground you may have thought you had went out the window right there. Michael McIntyre and Russell Howard? Those comedians suck.

  • @Tupac786Jr Russel Howard and Michael Mcintyre? Well good luck being taken seriously...

  • hmm no black comedian... fkin racist!

  • @Tupac786Jr I had comedians spanning three different countries: America, Britain and Ireland. Black people make up only 12.6% of the population of the US, and only 2% of the population of the UK, so, yes, it is hugely more likely that I would have white comedians on my list than black ones.

How many British or Irish comedians would be on your list? NONE? What a surprise! You're the only racist here.

  • @Tupac786Jr You do know that when you said "no black comedian?" and not "only white comedians?", you effectively are a racist yourself?

  • @Tupac786Jr Calling someone a racist because of their preferences in comedy is both childish and non-representative. My comical tastes, for instance, feature mostly British humour and is therefore primarily "white". However, my musical tastes lie in '30 - '50's Jazz, which in it's turn is primarily "Black".

Trust me when I say that I believe that racism is terrible. Which only makes it worse when someone calls one a racist without valid argumentation.

  • Ohh, But where is Bill Hicks? Numero uno. THat's right.

  • I don't find these guys very funny. The accent is annoying haha but that's just me.

  • @etl5432111 The accent? No two comedians here had the same accent.

  • Maybe you cunts should stop brooding over dead comedians you'd never heard of or gave a shit about when they were alive and enjoy comedy for what it is now. Hicks fans have successfully made me hate Bill Hicks, and I fear the same will happen with Greg Giraldo.

This being said, I would personally have placed Doug Stanhope much higher in my list, but as it is your list, I will not call you stupid for making up your own mind. Hadn't heard of a lot of these guys, but I will surely check them out.

  • @Visioncliff I'm not sure who the first part of your comment was aimed at. I was 7 when Bill Hicks died, so, no I hadn't heard of or gave a shit about him when he was alive.

  • @padraic2001eire The first part of that wasn't aimed at you. I was 7 as well and hadn't heard of him nor given a shit at the time. I'm going to take a wild guess you're not from the states based on the British comics and the gaelic in your username. I know Hicks was huge in the UK and largely ignored in the states and that's one thing, but whenever someone dies, everyone immediately fawns over them like Gandhi. It quite angers me, and I'm aware this makes me a hypocrite for what I said above.

  • @padraic2001eire I shall however attempt to rectify that by stating of all the people I get pissed at are the ones who ostracize others for comedians they've put on their list, and they create a list in a comment box of THEIR favorites, just to show the creator of the first list how wrong they were when they lack the capacity to make their own list in the first place.

  • @padraic2001eire Dia dhuit mo chara... good list, wouldn't be mine but thats why it is your list... your number 10 was hilarious I shall check him out for sure, and in return I must suggest you look up Louis CK. I know you haven't seen his work because if you had he would be well up there, he is unbelievably good at what he does... but how can you put david o d #3 and leave tommy t out?!? He is the tiger woods of Irish comedy

  • @story46 Thanks for the comment, but I actually have seen footage of Louis CK. Didn't think he was all that great. I completely disagree about Tommy Tiernan, I find about 95% of what he says unfunny. I would call him 'The Emperor's New Clothes' of comedy; I think he became popular because Irish people couldn't be bothered to think for themselves. David O'Doherty, Jarlath Regan and Dylan Moran are all superior. Oh, and I'd reply "Dia is Muire dhuit" but I don't believe in god or Mary.

  • @padraic2001eire Ok I will agree to disagree on Tommy Tiernan, and obviously god and all of that lark is a childish crock of shit.... But kind sir, Louis CK is the best. Sorry. I know one could argue that such things are a matter of opinion, but one would be wrong. I only found him because I heard Ricki Gervais say he was the worlds best stand up and Ricki is a comedy genius (average to poor stand up)

Anyway, thanks for introducing me to Demitri Martin, that guy is top notch

  • People this is a list of his favorite comedians not yours!

  • @GameSpyder Besides Eddie Murphy, who else are your favourites?

  • dude, bill hicks is the only comic that you have on there that was funny.

  • @Jreyes1227 Apply for a passport and visit another country, might broaden your mind.

  • It's refreshing to see people you wouldn't normally see. Of course Carlin, Cosby, and Dangerfield are the best of the best, it cool to see others for a change.

  • 1. Stewart Lee 2. Bill Hicks 3. Dylan Moran 4. Demetri Martin 5. Jimmy Carr 6. Dara O'Briain 7. David O'Doherty 8. Lee Mack 9. Tim Vine 10. Stewart Francis I would include Tim Minchin but he's more of a singer-songwriter.
  • @No9Nando Great list.

  • DOUG STANHOPE FTW

  • NOT FUNNY at allll

If u watched BLACK comedians you'd have a different top 10

  • @KidFatt Racist.

  • @KidFatt so long as they don't have to mention racism every two seconds yeah.

  • i love people for a while

  • Uploader, please can you tell me which show that Mitch Hedberg clip is from and if possible upload the full segment?

    Thanks.

  • @thechosen2010 Commenter, it's from a clip of Mitch on a British TV show called 'Jongleurs Live' that I ripped from youtube a couple of years ago. Sadly, the video was taken down by its original uploader, and I don't have the footage any more. Sorry, hopefully someone who does have it will upload it again some time in the future.

  • Comment removed

  • Chris Rock, Rob Corddry etc

  • Ricky gervais? hes good

  • How can anybody not love George Carlin?

  • @sinam84 So he has to be a top ten favorite for everyone?

  • @TeetoPlastic No dude I am not saying that. This is his favorite list not mine. It is kinda odd that George Carlin is not in this list

  • @sinam84 Well one thing-- no, two things that I noticed is that there's quite a few British comedians on this list. Also, I noticed that "favourite" is spelled with the UK spelling. This leads me to believe that he enjoys British comics and may be British himself. Also, if no Carlin, why no Richard Pryor? No Eddie Murphy? No Steve Martin? Come on, dude. Not including one iconic comedian on his favorite list is odd? He might like George Carlin but that doesn't necessarily mean he's a favorite.

  • @TeetoPlastic I guess your right. But you know for me George Carlin and Bill Hicks are always at the top of the list. But that's for me. Maybe its because I come from a place that Freedom of Speech doesn't exist. And these guys were fearless.

  • @sinam84 Sinam... makes me think southeast Asia. Am I right?

  • @TeetoPlastic No, but close, meadle east

  • BILL AND DYLAN! BLACK BOOKS!!! <3<3<3<3<3

  • great to see Richard Herring on a top 10 list a hugely underated comic.

Great pics with the rest as well

  • I LOVE Dylan Moran!!! He just looks like a bitter, compulsive drunk on the verge of a nervous break down!!!

  • love the Bill at #1, hes mine too. havent heard of a few these guys but based on that I'm going to look up every person. nice selection with the jokes too, well done vid

  • i would def have marcus brigstoke in mine =) maybe i'll compile my own....im inspired!

  • @LIFEinSTRIFE Brigstocke does at least attempt to talk to about intelligent subjects in his stand up, but he's been using the same material for years, just browse youtube. Bill Hicks is obviously a big influence on him, compare this joke from Hicks' Revelations:

“I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.”

with Brigstocke's from his DVD Planet Corduroy:

"Look I don't want to appear to be unsympathetic, but I am, so that's how it comes across."

  • Ha, this list made me want to re-watch black books

  • doesnt mitch hedberg look like eminem in a wig

  • garbage cept for hedberg and martin hicks is ok but not number 1 like 20th

  • Great choices

  • @mstowers1226 Thanks very much.

  • no carlin?

    great choice on hicks though

  • #9 guy wasn't all that funny. #8 wasn't too funny either, unless you can really understand what he's talking about. And #7 had a cruel humor. Not funny to me. #6 with the guitar made me laugh.

Yeah, I shouldn't go on. Most of them aren't funny unless you know everything they're talking about. Demitri Martin, and Mitch Hedberg were the only good ones.

  • @Rifalltoo people can still see this list of someone's favourites and then look into the comedians here. That's what I'm gonna do. I guess it's favourite comedians rather than favourite clips.

  • then forgive me

  • Thanks for the list. Never heard of a lot of these guys, but they seem pretty funny.

  • good choices . but i,d hav found a place 4 jerry sadowitz

  • @stixdiamond I haven’t seen much of Sadowitz’s stuff. In fact, I once uploaded a video of some of his stand up, and I immediately received an email from him asking me to take it down, as it was the joint property of both himself and Channel 4!

  • ya, wicked bad taste, these guys suck!!

except Demetri Martin he's okay. Like the ten best stand up comedians are British you jag.

  • @sebbysk8 You're a cunt. There were just as many American comics in this video as there were British ones. And yes, British comedians on the whole are much better than American ones. American stand ups are mostly witless goons coasting on their minor television-based celebrity status, who don't bother to write any jokes.

  • @padraic2001eire come on its about stand up comedy not stand up and tell your nationality show.

  • @halflifeh "and tell your nationality show"

    Um... what?

  • @padraic2001eire Good pick with Bill!

  • @halflifeh Are you saying that because of the many europeans on the list? Because he chose Bill Hicks as number one. Plus Bill is better than almost every comedian.

  • @padraic2001eire lol dont be biased or anything, ive only ever seen a few brittish comedians that made me laugh, but thats probably because our culture is different

  • @xXGodsEnemyXx It's true. Although I am not from the UK, and am not British, the British sense of humour does seem closer to my own than that of Americans.

  • Terrriiibbbbllllleee Line up

  • no lee evans? russle peters? -.-

  • Missing:

    George Carlin

    Gabriel Iglesias

    Louis C.K

    Dave Chappelle

    Christopher Titus

    Chris Rock

    Dane Cook

Still its a good list though

  • @DXFan1269 You were doing pretty good unitl you got to Dane Cook...

  • Mitch!!! Miss him

  • your list did help me to discover a couple of great uk comedians, so for that I thank you.

  • how about Dave Chappelle

  • lol i love how people who get angry a comedian hey like isnt on here, its someones fucking opinion!!!!!!!!!!! not fact although good choices bro

  • @nogoalov23 Thanks.

  • WERE THE FUCK IS GEORGE CARLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @GameCraze68 He's under the table giving me head.

  • @padraic2001eire thats necrophilia. id stop that. you might get something bad.

  • @padraic2001eire

    wats tht lil intro song/riff?

  • @maamuh It's Rory Gallagher's version of Sonny Boy Williamson's 'When My Baby She Left Me' taken off his BBC Sessions album. Check it out!

  • @padraic2001eire

You have bad taste.. He is dead bro

  • @GameCraze68 Doesn't have to be his favorite.

  • @GameCraze68 maybe he/she doesnt like george carling. read the title.

  • @GameCraze68 He doesnt belong in this video. All he does is comment on religion.Old fuck aint even funny.

  • @roger09doger i enjoy oral sex with hores

  • @roger09doger i enjoy oral sex with horses

  • I dont know who Bill Bailey is, but goddamn that was a great bit!

  • @lovesrequiem1017 Ha ha, glad you liked it. Be sure and check out more of his stuff. I recommend the show 'Part Troll' from which this clip is taken as a good introduction.

  • billy connoly?

  • Excellent choice (my fave two - Moran and Bailey)

  • mitch hedberg should be number one

  • None of them were funny, try, Steve Hughes, Russell, Howard, lee Evans, Aries spears, katt Williams, they are far more Entertaining! :)

  • @NicolePrentice08 i LOVE steve hughes... i was rlly annoyed when he left rove...but hes still awesom

  • All men...not surprising.

  • @ScriptChick27 Well, which Female comedians would you recommend?

  • @padraic2001eire Phylis Diller, Joan Rivers, Kathy Griffin, Ellen DeGeneres, Margaret Cho, Maria Bamford, and Lily Tomlin just to name a few.

  • @ScriptChick27 It's not surprising that my list is all men. 99% of female comedians aren't good (including those in the list you just made), and 99% of male comedians aren't good, it just so happens that a lot more male comedians 'make it', and therefore that 1% of good male comedians is much more sizable than female comedians. And by the way, this list is 20% Irish, 40% American and 40% British. That's not enough diversity for you, spanning three countries?

  • @ScriptChick27 what about wanda sykes?

  • Numbers 9, 8, 7... not my style.

9 and 8 were kind of just talking. And number 7 didn't make sense. Demitri Matrin is in my top 3 because; well, he actually tells jokes.

Number 6, was funny on his point. I think I'll have to hear more of him. Number 5, didn't understand. I think his humor was too specific. I love Mitch Hedburg. Like Demitri, he was telling easy to get jokes. The last 3, I just didn't get.

  • ok how the fuck is eddie murphy not in this

  • @TheJackSalamiShow Because he isn't one of the best comedians ever. Not by a fuckin' long shot. One good stand up, "Raw", that's it. Since then he has done a few good movies and absolutely fuck all since 2000. Dave Chappelle is much more amazing as far as stand up goes then Eddie fuckin' Murphey. Oh, lemme add Louis C.K., Doug Stanhope, and David Cross. So glad that Bill was #1, even though the list was not my picks. Oh, need more female comedians on the list, they can be just as funny as men.

  • @gwalagwala87 and delirious

i didnt laugh as hard at any of these fags than i did at eddie murphy yeah its murphy not murphey dumb shit

  • @TheJackSalamiShow I've never laughed so hard as when Eddie Murphy tried to say he was "helping out" a lady with a lift in his car, that later turned out to be a transvestite prostitute(AGAIN) & then deny knowledge it was a transvestite prostitute! He's hilarious,& he makes it look like so sincere! Genius!!

  • A great list. And a couple that are new to me.

  • russel is the best and we all know that

  • hicks and hedberg rock they like hunter, left us too soon

  • eddie izzard and billy connolly is all i need

  • BILL HICKS, IS NOT DEAD! Right now, he just UNAVAILABLE!

  • Not sure about the other nine but #1 All time best Bill Hicks Right On!! 17 years later, I can't even image where he be today if he was still alive, the all time best stand up comedian ever lived, I suppose!

  • Bill Hicks! Greatest comedian EVER!

  • Great sountdwon. It a shame you don't have control of a tv chanel where you could show an hour of each stand up's material for this, especially since all the people you chose tend to build quite complicated sets, with call backs and thematic nuance abounding.

  • stewart lee is like mark twain, from what i've seen, it's bullshit wrapped in more bullshit so well it's halarious.

  • at first i didn't like o'doherty because of some trivial topics but he made up for it, good list, as i suspected it was, with hicks as #1

  • thanks for the info on some new good brit? comedy, mostly brit i think. laughing about trivial stuff is not as funny as these types.. it seems so far, hicks is the best i think.

  • "Come MEer!"

  • Bill Hicks YES!

  • Doug Stanhope yes! Charlie Brooker got him!

  • Hey Buddy, Come ere!

  • wtf????

    wheres dane cook

    wheres michael mcintyre

    wheres jim davidson???!!!!

  • @elementneo999 Dane Cook is a joke stealing hack. And it's a list of his favourite comedians, not yours.

  • @mastersajj Fuck Up Ass Hole!

dane cook is beast and all his jokes are his, i have his autograph.

andd i know its HIS top 10 im just saying his list is fucking retarded!

  • 5:07

  • love that hedburg and hicks are on your list.

  • Sam Kinison is my favorite comedian

  • Some really great choices here. I share your no.1 choice wholeheartedly.

  • @padraic2001eire

Damn, you scared me there. I was like " No Bill Hicks, are you fucking kidding me?"

    *whew*
