I have a question.. is the story about Tweeter and the Monkey man true did, it happen or was it just something that came out of the imagination of Dylan and the other band members?

according to George Harrison, it was some story that Dylan and Petty were talking about one day in the kitchen. So, I think it is based on something that happened. Harrison found it interesting and encouraged Dylan to write lyrics to the story they were discussing, and Tweeter came out. but unfortunately I wasn't there so I don't know for sure.

some say it's a jab at Springsteen.
