On my pure support rune build, I have 5.3% (max) gold/second, I always buy the 5/gold items as early as possible, and I still never have enough to keep both the player sustained and non-stop warding. For me to do so I would have to make too many trips back... depriving the essential bot lane presence.

Thats just plain stupid talking away gold from the main damage dealing source, the 2-3 people that acually carry your team into battle. In that case you'd have to substitude with great teamwork if you want your carries to ward and carry at the same time. Its way easier if you tanks and support know their role, rather than you filling in for them.
