  • I really don't like Wal. Especially when he was like "three" to the red team.

  • Adro is so cute when he smiles

  • Its funny because on the first day befroe they are voted into teams, they are like best friends and talking with each other and stuff but as soon as they are sorted into teams, they like hate each other!

  • adro has big moobs

  • Go Dave Go! It has to be really hard for him to exert himself at that weight, what a fantastic result!

  • I don't think their "week" is actually 7 days...more like 11/12 or something according to an article I read earlier this week.

  • They are on 1500 calorie diets... When you weigh 300lbs, your body takes 3000 calories to function - i.e. pump blood, breathe, etc. If you add your total calories burned per day, most likely 1000+ for these people, that adds up to 4000 calories burned in one day. It's no wonder they lose that much weight. However, this method of weight loss is extremely unhealthy, and there is a high chance that they will gain the weight back

  • in the us version the men usually lose 30 pounds in the 1st week EACH

but its impossible to lose this amount of fat, so either they water-loaded either they were eating a lot of salt prior to the BL

  • @uberfriponne If you convert the weight loss from all of the contestants based on this very weigh-in, I'd say they totally outdid us from our first season here in the U.S. All of them, lost double-digits, and we didn't. Here's are the stats:

    U.S.A. 1st Season, Week One -- 19, 12, 15, 13, 10, 6, 13, 10, 22, 20, 3, 5

    Australia 1st Season, Week One -- 15, 35, 27, 15, 19, 13, 21, 20, 10, 17, 17, 14

  • all those kilos in ONE week? Isn't it unhealthy?!?!?

  • I'm a 5'2 and 128lbs 19 year old girl....

I think it would take me at least four or five weeks to lose the kind of weight some of these people lost in one week.

  • I like Adro, he's a really nice chap

  • fiona is so pretty:)

  • how the hell did they lose that much in one week?

  • @taetaeWLthey lose so much beacuse they have done very little exercise before so as a result so such intense training their bodies get a shock, but the most important thing is to lose body fat weight does not really matter as muscle weighs more than fat which is why some people can't wor out why they cannot get lower than a certian weight. :)

  • @ronin0990 Oh I see. Thanks for replying :)

  • y aren't they clapping!!!!! they're doin great

  • Fist week and even days are like that, I`m a girl and when I am on a diet I always loose the biggest numbers in the first week and after you can even eat less but still numbers will be lower, I once had in the first week -5, but after doing everything the same only -1!

  • wh arent the trainers atthe weigh in?

  • hab total bock auf bissl chatn wer will der kann sich ja bei mir melden

  • Some of these guys have bigger boobs than me :(

  • kat looked a tiny bit like leighton meester at 5:38

  • Most people lose the most weight in the beginning because they are mainly sweating off water.

  • @jpzxcvbnm

I'd be worried if they were sweating anything that wasn't water

  • Wow, almost 10kg in a week is actually damn good for a woman who's not that huge as it goes. What goes in her favour is that she's unlikely to be a yo yo dieter. They really have trouble losing the weight initially!

  • I guess they can water load a little bit before the first weigh-in, just to give them a good edge. In the american season, all the guys lost 30+ pounds except one, so that's pretty impossible.

  • HOLY GOD. Tracy and Harry look completely different -- and it's only been one week!!! They must've been carrying a lot of weight round their faces.

  • Fiona is so pretty! cant wait for her to lose the weight!

  • are they lose this weight in one week?

  • i feel so happy for jo. she deserved to lose more than she thought. so did ruth and david and all of dem

  • on the American version they do take there tops off. American's just aren't big on the whole speedo look. it's to much like underwear.

  • speedo= budgie smugglers, thats what they're called over here, its funny to hear them called by their right name, lol

  • Also, the more you weigh, the faster you drop weight. There's a reason people can never seem to lose "those last [however many] pounds"- the less you weight, the more your body holds on. A 160 lb person could never lose 20, 10, 8 lbs in a week like these people.

  • Very true. But never say never if you've seen TBL S5...it shows the impossible can be done even at the very end.

  • Why do the AUS folk take their shirts off and weigh with shorts and speedos and the American show doesn't?

As an American - I DON'T LIKE THAT!

  • To better show their extreme weight losses over time?

And your last sentence is exactly why they don't do it--if it makes your audience uncomfortable it's probably not that good of an idea.

  • Absoloutely. Losing weight slowly is the way to go. It is important to start out slow and make changes that you can stick to for life. Losing weight is not about doing a diet, it is about changing your lifestyle habits for life. That, means, better food, less calories, more moving. Really simple. A recommended healthy weight loss should not exceed 2 lbs per week (about 0.85 kg)

  • Your generalizing it too much. It all depends on their size.

  • Yeah, I agree. While the 2 lb/wk guideline is generally correct, when you're talking about ppl of this size, that goes out the window. Especially during the first week when you're shedding a ton of water.

  • nope, you're right. its the best way to lose weight and keep it off. A lot of these contestants will not have 4-6hours to work out in 'real' life. So long as you get 45mins a day, 3days minimum a week and have balanced nutrition, a 2lbs loss a week is normal and the best way to keep it down.

  • they lost alot of wight im only like 30 pounds over wight and there loseing like 6kilo thats like 13lb a week very good

  • I also need to lose 30 lbs, and I find this show inspiring. :) However, losing weight that quickly is not healthy. It's too easy to regain since your body's metabolism doesn't adapt that quickly, and you are more likely to be losing water than fat. Some of these people exercise until they vomit, and you don't really see them drinking water as they exercise to replenish their fluids. Personally, I would rather take it a bit slower.

  • well thier bodies arent used to a tough workout. Probably any workout at all for that matter. Gradual is best for your body though. I need to lose about 20 myself and Its the final of my "biggest loser" wt I have to get off.
