  • A unique song from Petra. They haven't done many socially-aware type of songs. Their power alley is spiritual punches.

  • God bless every member of petra the first christian band i knew way back 1987 and thanks to ptr. JOSE VEA, JR. for teaching me to love music and thouhgt me how to play the guitar and get involve in the ministry specially in the music team....

  • Wonderful song..if only Christians lived by these words.... >:(

  • I think that if we would focus more on what is going on in our own back yard, and stop fighting with one another we would be so much happier, fewer families torn apart by anger, love will take care of all that we have to face on a daily basis, just BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No longer a Christian, and never will be again. But I still love this song.

Look past the lyrics and your religious propaganda people, and just focus on the beautiful MUSIC.

  • @linkypinky66 Just wondering why you mind if i ask why you will never be a christian again?

  • @linkypinky66 This is a social song, about the misery and poverty that brings this unjust system, not a religious song, and a critic to those who pass by a poor person and look to other side, its far from a religious song

  • beautiful song ......... for soul

  • I played this song to my daughter for the very first time, Petra is one of my favourite christian bands and this song is one of my faves. She understood the words and the truth in it, she cried. She was only 6 then.

  • metalflavio videos

  • kazooga: "so called Christians" is exactly right. You hit the nail on the head. Drop me a line via email; I'd love to talk more with you about this actual Jesus guy, not the numb nuts who have abused his name in the name of defending Empire. They disgust me as much as they must disgust any thinking Atheist or Agnostic.

Know for now that what Petra is saying here is FIRMLY embedded in Scripture, no matter what some Repugnicans say or do.

  • Fortunately Jesus said many things in the bible that are not taken seriously. "Whatsoever ye do to the least of these, ye have done to me"

When I was hungry, you did not feed me, when I was sick and in prison, ye did not visit me, when I was thirsty, you did not give me drink, when I was naked, you did not clothe me. When we feed someone, we are not feeding that person, but we are feeding Jesus, we are giving him drink, we are clothing him, we are visiting him and so forth. Think about it.

  • Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

  • Amen! beautiful song

  • I never thought I would lose everything, but I did. All but my faith in the Lord.

  • Many of God's servants in the bible were also down on their luck in the world's eyes. But God shines brightest in people that the world would shun. We're all desolate but until we're made to realize it, we'll never grasp our need for Christ.

  • has any1 thought that the reason we have homeless people is caz of republicans who then blame it on god and dont u think its messed up that they dont help the homeless at all

  • kazooga1234--statistics show that repubs give an ave. of 33% more to the poor than dems and libs --this is a fact--also 65% of repubs politicions are born agains where only 27% of dems even believe that there is "some kind of god"

  • but the republicans have more money to spend after all republicans own more then 1 house democrats dont democrats have to be more sparing with the money to make sure it goes to campaign only republicans get more money from advertising democrats dont they have to save that money they cant just go spending it caz they rnt getting as much money as the republicans and they dont start out with as much money as the republicans think about that

  • @talboi20 Right but the reps who says i´´m a born again" sends boys to dye for oil, put dictators in Latin America, see education and public health as a profitable matter and not as a human right, those "born again" are just religious persons not born again

  • kazooga: I sure do. Can't tell you how many times well-meaning numb nuts quote Jesus, "the poor you will always have with you," as if that lets us off the hook from helping the poor.

  • i dont understand your stupid quote it makes no sense there will always be something u can do to help out this world and also its a fact that more chirstains do drugs and more of them get abortions or get preg a young age and i help the poor ever heard of the heffer project

  • kazooga: there's a scene in the Bible where a repentant prostitute comes to Jesus pours perfume oils over his feet, and cries over his feet, kissing them.

One disciple, Judas the Betrayer, barks that the money for the perfume could have been used to give to the poor. Jesus, knowing the woman did it out of love and gratitude, tells Judas that they (the disciples) will always have the poor, but not always Jesus, who would soon die on the cross

I.e., immaterial to social justice, today.

  • i dont give a shit whats in the bible some of its is prob true but it is also twisted up facts to be a good person i dont need some stupid book to tell me what to do when was the last time u push a button to donate some rainforest mine was a few days ago i stayed up 24 hours to watch some1s live show and support them with what they where doing and we dont need the bible that accually starts wars to keep us in a social justice sociaty caz the so called chirstain republicans want to ruin that they

  • have tried to stop obama from giving the people in GITMO fair trails and that is part of the consitution is every1 has the right to a fair trail and if found guilty to be giving the proper punishment not to tourcher them and hang them there where some known to be guilty and bush and chaney let them go thats not being chirstain so im sorry if i dont give a shit about a book that tells me the world is flat when it is accually round this is what i believe in wimp(dot)com/niceinfo its called science

  • This song is awesome!

  • This song is so overlooked. Striking in-your-face lyrics (like almost all Petra lyrics anyway) and huge keyboard solo by John Lawry. I e-mailed Bob Hartmann about this song and he wrote back that the whole song was composed by John Lawry.

  • Wow. Never heard this one. We are all homeless until we can one day be in heaven with Jesus. This is not our real home.Thank You Jesus.

  • ALIVEAGN:

Ahem....with all due respect, do you also believe "Song of Solomon" is purely spiritual metaphor?

This song is quite literally a call for the Church to take on social justice. More than just "heaven when ya' die", but transformation of this Earth in the meantime, too!

Unfortunately, the Evangelical community has been almost completely blind to this. This is starting to change, and I'm thrilled to see this awakening heart for the poor and hungry, the naked and the prisoner.

  • Couldn't agree more. The line "we're not doing all we can do" literally hit me in the head when I first heard it and hits me each and every time I hear it. I have a need to do something and I'm hoping that as soon as our local youth group gets together and running I'm going to propose that we do some sort of social program.

  • ty for posting this it hits home im a homeless christian ive never lost faith jesus did it for a reason, although youd never realize how much ignorance is out there.

  • Jesus know. He always know and undestarnd. Blessings. UPF

  • Your welcome!

    UPF
