  • Your body movement is awesome! But sometimes your right arm seems a little stiff.

  • I like the looks you make on your face while dancing, they're quite entertaining =D

  • @matrixbug1

That's my practicing in the living room alone face =P

  • Good flow and I see a lot of passion for what you're doing. The only feedback I can give would be to exaggerate your movements. You're on a path to becoming a perfect performer. Keep up the amazing work.

Make up or no... you're stunning.

  • I love this video.

  • @SultrySeeker

    Thank you =D

  • good stuff

  • @Humaneering

That means a lot coming from a great dancer like you. Thank you and I'll keep working on it ^___^

  • @otherwheregirl thanks

  • you have nice sexy tummy and bellybutton ... can you please dance in more love jeans ?

  • The posture could use some improvement (no worries, I have the same problem! It can be hard to keep up), and I would use sharper hip accents for when you are trying to emphasize those. Only other thing is maybe mix up your arms a bit, but that just comes with a lot of training (again, I still have issues with my arms). I can tell you got it though, and are a great dancer!! :)

  • The chest isolations/ locks/pops are great, and the undulations, especially the reverse camel look great. I can tell you are getting your arm fluidity down really well. The shimmies are lookin' nice too.

  • Holy crap that's awesome lol. I'm an american cabaret dancer, and recently had my first workshop in liquid fusion. I gained even MORE appreciation for it, realizing the many differences between the two, and how hard it is to switch habits/gears. You're really on a roll- keep it up! As one person said, hands and arms could add quite a bit, but other than that, you have some serious control over those muscles! Wish I could learn from you and other liquid-fusion dancers! Looking forward to more ^.^

  • Wow! I must say that I'd love to dance like you even in my best conditions! I almost can't perceive the consequences of your injuries, excepting a little stiffness in your arms and back. Trust me when I say that I'm very sorry about your accident; it must be sad and frustrating to be disabled to dance in such a long time. However, you've been doing an admirable work, and I'm trying to learn how to belly roll with your tutorials (: Thank you for your videos, they motivate me to keep on learning!

  • Take some attentions to your hands and posture... your dance will be really better ^^ Rachel's DVD Arms & Posture is helping me A LOOOT with these. iT's wonderful to see how our dance can be inproved working a little bit more in the hands and arms!

    Keep on dancing!!!!

  • @aaleh Thank you for the feedback =)

  • Pentaphobe! Right in the Eyeball. Love that track. Glad to know that your back injury isn't keeping you from what you love most. I also have a crazy hand that twirls and twirls and twirls. I think it's one of those nervous movements that helps keep our minds on track. Your belly rolls are looking good and since this was posted about six months ago, I'm sure that they're even better. Please feel free to look at my site. I've had a year in formal training and a year training by myself.

  • @JuggernautGrim

Thank you. My hands have gotten a lot better, but I'm still working on my arms. I'll be posting more videos once i get a new cable for my camera =)

  • You are very pretty !!!!

  • this is very good for being out of the game for so long! This is very inspiring. I know what you mean about starting over. I say keep on trucking and eventually i think you'll find that most of your movements and muscle control will return. Just be gentle, patient, and consistent!

  • @AkilahAmazight

Thank you so much for the feedback =D That's just what I'm doing, but I am having a hard time with the consistent part =P

  • That is awesome. You and I need to get together sometime and dance.

You've got the Chi flow down pat. Just let the movement flow from that. Let go and let the dance take you where it will.

  • When I saw your video I thought "This girl has the Dusty arms" and then I read your footer :)

Your bellyrolls are beautiful, they remind me of Mardi's, but you should work on the arms, though they are very gracefull, your hands moves, perhaps, when you don't want them to. I think that is a really common issue for all of us, the hands keep moving and you say "OMG who are you!? Stop moving!" :P I always do my drills trying to keep the crazy hand steel and then I add them just in performances...

  • @maytebachmann

Aww thank you. I'm glad you like the bellyrolls ^____^

My hands and arms act like they're on crack!!! O.O What's sad is that my arms used to be the most beautiful thing about my dancing, but that was 12 years ago =\

Bellydance is not like riding a bike, I just have to go back to square one. Do you have any advice on improving the hands?

  • @otherwheregirl Practice with your arms and hands relax and quiet in a position (for example at shoulder high or with the palms to the floor and hands at hip high, slightly a part from you body, forming a soft curve in the elbows), so you gain control over them. Then try to add them just to finish some moves, not all the time. Eventually your body will get use to relax the arms while you dance.

Practice, drill and train your arms too. Rachel's dvd's are excellent specially "Arms and posture"

  • ... like a beautiful little touch :) I took that advise from Mira Betz, so it's a good one :)

The other thing is that your feet are always a bit too far from each other. I think you should practice that too in order to make your moves more delicate and femenine, but it's just a little detail.

I hope I haven't been too hard on you, I gave you the advice with the best of the intentions :) It would be really if you did the same with some of my videos :D

    Greetings from Uruguay!

  • @maytebachmann

Thank you so much! This is exactly the kins of critique I was looking for. I also love your other comment. I really need to know how to improve =D

I'll try the foot placement right away. I was wondering if you knew which moves are safer with the feet hip width apart and wich are fine to place the feet closer?

  • @otherwheregirl If you keep your knees slightly bended watching that the knees are never further than the tip of your toe, both positions are equally safer, but it's softer and prettier if you dance with your feet together, specially in the lack of a skirt :P My advice? Practice with different distances between your feet, always watching your back and your knees. You'll grow strength on your hips this way. But always perform with you feet together, with exception of some moves like Zoe's :)

  • Well, thankfully it seems like you retained a lot of looseness on your hips, and your belly rolls are still awesome. I think for now you should drill hips and torso isolations separately from arms movements, to get used to isolating them while keeping the arms still and thus get rid of the stray flapping arm. Rachel Brice's drills & yoga DVD and her arms & posture DVD are both great for this.

Just make sure your doctor approves, and be careful! :)

  • @yameyameyame

Thank you for the feedback ^__^

Ok. I'll work in that direction. Lets hope it works! I'm always thinking that I have something totally covered, but in truth those moves have been forgotten. It's really hard to bo back to super basic moves when you've spent years working on advanced stuff, so I'll keep that in mind.

This super slow style of dancing really shed light on my weak spots, so I'll keep working in this direction. I will post a few drumsolos for fun though ^___^

  • hey, there, it's cla. i shot ya a couple of emails. cool vid. -agapao

  • Check your facebook :D!!!

  • @eJUGGLeR82

    Why? O.O

  • you're good, but you need to define your moves a little more, make them more precise and strong (:

  • @lithiumed27

    Thank you =)

Improvising to new music is very hard for me. I'll work harder on hitting the beats with stronger, more precise moves. Lets hope I get better at it =P

  • sinceramente, isto faz-m mais parecer breakdance do que outra coisa

  • @SarinHahable

Yes. I am trying a fusion of popping , liquid style, and bellydance. I'm not sure if you think I'm not including enough bellydance, or not popping very well, but I would love further feed back ^___^

    Thank you for the comment

  • WOW! You do a great dance number...Sorry to hear about your back- glad that it is well enough for you to dance!

  • Its great to see you dancing again!!! As for your arms/hands, just keep imagining that energy that you are building up in your dance as floating out through them and beyond. They help tell your story and frame your movements so let them show us what you want us to look at. Your isolations are beautiful and you've got a good sense for the music. I wanna see more!

  • @cymbeline74

Thank you. I'll try that. I am wondering if I should really practice with drum solos, but I want to make sure I can truly understand which drum sounds = which dance movements.

    So far I've heard:

doom = downward pops tak = upward pops rolls = Shimmies/flutters etc.

I've also heard that in some styles dancers only move to the "up beat", But I am a little confused about more traditional ways of interpreting the music o.O

  • @otherwheregirl I think the most confusing thing is there is no "one" way to interpret the music. Its individual as per the dancer and what she's hearing. Keep the movements purposeful, confident and don't try and hit every single beat. Faster can be traveling, or just standing for a nice shimmy. Generally higher notes = upper body, lower notes = lower body. That is more of a guideline though. IMO too many Tribal Fusion dancers look like they are drilling and not dancing.

  • Exactly. I've been studying vintage bellydance videos trying to fully understand why so many Arabic people say that American bellydancers don't "hear the music". I have noticed a common difference, and often the result is that drilling/practice look.

I'm ALL about playing on accent rather than hitting every little beat. So far Ive found the classic turkish 9 step to be helpful in finding the subtle accents. I'm starting to think the nuances are more about the steps/traveling moves.

  • I liked it! Also love the music you choose

  • haven't seen you in FOREVER!! absolutely love this dance. the stomach undulating especially reminded me of my old pilates teachers. also, your hair looks amazing! MISS YOU!!!!!!

  • @donttouchmyfishes

    Thank you! ^___^

We should get together soon. =)

  • don't worry about the lack of makeup. i think that womens looks more beautiful without that. and is bad for skin. nice dance, u improve your art very well according to your back problem. sorry for my bad english. btw, are those staffs behind y juggling staff?

  • @VegaEtereo

Thank you, and yes those are double staffs. I also spin fire fans, contact juggle, spin poi, and chain whip ^___^ I love all arts of movement =D

  • Good job, Nice improve, What are you talking about, you are not terrible on improv I can't even do what you did, you will be an inspiration to many!

  • @Tiny1281

Thank you. I guess we are all our hardest critics. =) I do hope people will be inspired to get up and dance their way to healthy backs =)

  • You certainly deserve to be congratulated for resuming the dance after all those difficulties. Actually you dance better than most who have no handicaps at all. Your stomach movements are marvelous and I don't see anyting wrong with your arms. You still can do the essential movements of belly dancing and do them very well.

  • @oxfordgrill

Thank you so much for the kind words ^____^
