  • do they have to take theyre shirts off or do they choose?

  • what's a snare

  • So clean...

  • Talk bout a good arm work out .!!

  • @DrmrGuy1979 very true.

  • @DrmrGuy1979 not where i am from.

  • yes very clean. and very good. but gosh relax. and they suck for having to pla with a metronome and count out loud. they wrists and everything else. raw.

  • loving the dude on the end with no scoop :-)

  • Am I the only one that noticed that it looks like they're naked under those drums some of the time?

  • sooo clean

  • clean

  • I want the music score of drum corps on parade.

  • This is why I could never march drum corp. I'm a pasty, chubby white guy. These guys are all tall and skinny. I'd be the one oddball with a shirt on.

  • @dfisk79

You would be surprised how many people who march start off pasty and chubby. It just takes a lot of work and dedication. Its not impossible!

  • @dfisk79

One of the best snare players I know in person marches for Atlanta Quest and he is chubby and was pasty. But his chops are amazing.

  • @dfisk79

there are 2 recent snare lines you should definitely check out: Carolina Crown 2009 & Blue Knights Indoor World 2010. For BK it's obvious; the center snare is the hugest on the line. For crown 09, look for the huge black guy.

It's definitely doable. Tell me if it doesn't change your mind. Big people can march corps. too; even drumline. It's all up to if you WANT it.

  • @dfisk79 thats very nice to know dude.

  • something about the way those snares sound is just amazing

  • was that JOE@!@@

  • oooo lalalala.....;)

  • wow that was really clean. hard to detect any flams

  • flams at :22, :23, :24, two flams at :27, :28, two at :33, :34, :35, three flam rudiments from :36-:37,

  • wow you win. oh wait.

  • i win.

  • hahahahahahahaha.....fucking hilarious

  • ahhh geez (:

  • dci rules my ears !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • clean :) I wish i was better at playing :p I really REALLY want to do drum corps but i doubt i'm good enough yet.

  • won't know unless you try.

  • Comment removed

  • i had the same feeling...just about playing drums in general...i started out tapping on every damn thing i could touch...got a pair of sticks and learned how to move/hold them right...that was my junior year...now im on the University of south carolina snareline working on goin out for blue coats in 2 yrs after i graduate...basically if you want it...work for it...you WILL get it...

  • haven't you or won't you have aged out??

  • i was gonna say, after you graduate? when you grad you will be at least 22 which is a year too old to try out for blue coats

  • @aaronkundla Hey man, no sweat. Work hard, and TRY OUT!!! They will teach you what you need to know, you need to demonstrate your confidence and work ethic in order to make it. They just have to know that you wont be a problem to train.

  • @aaronkundla practice : )

  • @aaronkundla The only thing holding you back is your doubts. I started corps when I was 14.

  • @Euph70 What corp?

  • evry time i see dis video i get tingles down my spine (no homo) lol

  • The most fun thing to do is pause the video in random spots and check their stick heights.

    Insanely close every time.

  • Too True! good call man!

  • @Jeremybug2 not at :02

  • @Jeremybug2 LOL CHECK OUT CENTER SNARE AT 0:31

  • @Jeremybug2 i randomly tried it once at 0:33 and those three snare drumers' right hands were all different, check for yourself.

  • those are some tasty clean rolls right there!!

  • jim kilpatric snare drum harnesses!, those are highland corps origionaly but its ok you guys can use em too :P

  • the annotation hahaha

  • Blue Devils is my favorite corps. But just because they have 10 high percussion titles doesn't make them the best. They're the best when they actually win it.

  • Well said, my friend. I am glad you're not one of those people that assume and insist that the Blue Devils are the best every year because they have the most titles.

  • dude all i can say is that's one of the cleanest videos ive seen in a while

  • YEAH! that was intense

  • XP birch snares... lol love the cadets, hate the drums haha

  • lol I know man! I hate the sound of their drums! such a bad ass line though!

  • yep, drums sound like table tops!! always takes a little away from the hype!

  • cadets 2010 hear i come

  • larn 2 spele

  • i didnt even realize dat lol

  • i love how tense and firm everything is about their hands and arms and how they play and then when they put them to their side they just wobble around

  • The technique isn't tense. Its a very relaxed and natural technique with emphasis on velocity and rebound. you're probably thinking the velocity is a result of tension in the arm... its not...

  • i'm just talking aesthetics, the way it looks, i thought it was ironic and kinda funny

  • What actually is their technique?

  • the exact opposite of BD and Phantom...

    meaning, they have technique.

  • Ha i know that but what actually do they focus on for technique?

  • soooooooo clean

i need to go take a shower

  • -l0l- ateen4everandever. i agree with u! ;)

  • shirts are too hot and sticky in that heat

  • I play drums (10th grade) at a christian school whose band program has 50 people and gets less than 1000 dollars a year to spend on anything, our snare drums are 12 years old and our bass drums are 4...

i feel like an asshat for watching this xD

  • i like how all their shirts are off :), but thats just personal preference...

  • Perfect Sound!!! Sounds like ONE snare!!! That's how it's SUPPOSED to sound!!! Good Stuff!!!

  • i like how their snares sound

  • is it just me or around 10 seconds in does the black guy to our right of the center snare pop out with an accent or something

  • They all hit the accent its just the guy right next to him didnt bring his stick hight as high as everyone else. Everyone else hits it.

  • The guy to his left also misses the dynamic for a count or two at the very end.

  • its so clean its scary!

  • 1st left 0:30. Sweet tuning though!

  • And 1st left 0:21... damn first lefts! Those things are hard. :p

  • dude i totally agree. it's almost as if they were told they must play this to perfection or burn in hell. amazing.

  • you guys look like robots!

  • well wat i think is really unique about the whole cadets corps. is tht they step off with the right foot instead of the left

  • i met the Sction Leader for this year and the one Tenor Player. the section leader Jake Gall hes AMAZING!!! 3 people from my school drumline got to play alongside them

  • By this season, do you mean 08? Cause i dont think Jake was the leader in 07.

  • Nah, Jake wasn't center in 07. Just 08. His age out year. ):

  • Ah yes, the Cadets. What a bunch of superhumans.

  • yes. so correct.

  • Very CLEAN....nice

  • Cadets rock.

  • i would like to see a drum off between the blue devils and these dudes lol

  • no good lines do drum offs ... wow

  • these guys are flat out awesome drummers!

  • what kind of batteries they use?

  • AAA's.

  • this is why i want to try out for cadets. wow

  • HOW DID BD WIN DRUMS?!?!?!? Nice job cadets.

  • 3 things at finas...

the pit blew a few attacks in the opening of the show.

there was a front 2 back issue with the pit and battery 4 one count but they borught it right back

one of the snares tickd a few triplet rolls on the last triplet or last 2 partials of the triplet... almost as if they wree giving up, or overdoing a cres.

  • when the battery was doing something demanding, the judge was watching the pit.

  • That wasn't all of it.

Some "left hands" during the drum solo.

    Some bad five stroke rolls

    There were other things...

  • Awesomely clean.

And love the snare sound. Just wet enough.

Not dead like BD's Dy-nasty snares.

  • There's nuthing wrong with a dynasty snare, it's the way the dumbass tech's tune the snares for BD, they used clear bottom heads in 07 which suck, they need an evans 300 hazy to wetten it up a bit!!!!

  • There's nuthing wrong with a dynasty snare, it's the way the dumbass tech's tune the snares for BD, they used clear bottom heads in 07 which suck, they need an evans 300 hazy to wetten it up a bit!!!!

  • the cadets use clear bottoms 2... so whats the problem

  • it's not the drums it the drum tech's at BD who make the snares sound like crap

  • I generally agree. It's the techs that are to more to blame for the sound.

But I haven't heard any Dynasty snares that sound good. Maybe I just haven't heard them tuned well.

  • What about Glassmen tho, they march dynasty

  • glassmen's drumline plays musically though. They aren't typically show hogs like the BD drumline. even though they are never as clean as bd

  • stfu what do you have against the glassmen

  • That may be true, but at least Glassmen doesn't drop the ball on finals night and drop to 5th in drums costing the corps the title past summer..

  • Hahahaha, 50,000?

    Really?

    No

  • you mean like when they lost to Glassmens line in the early 2000's?

I'm sorry, I love BD, but I'm sick of people saying their always the best...they didn't fuckin win drums for 10 years, since 97! Get over yourself man, don't hate on other corps because you have a fetish with BD.

  • Paul Rennick is the man at tuning. Go listen to Phantom 08. They have Dynasty's and owned.

  • Hey I own a dynasty snare and they are pretty bad ass. I think it is just what youre used to playing on. I am a fan of Pearl and Yamaha as well. Each company has features that I like...I wish I could make a hybrid

  • Mapex tried that... epic fail.

  • No kidding. If they were any cleaner, I'd have to agree that it just wouldn't be fair! lol I stilll very much dislike george hopkins and the cadets though. Still a good line.

  • Is it legal to be that clean?

  • its funny too, because this video is a good 5 weeks before finals....so they got that much better

  • holy shit they are hella clean but i agree with sunsnare, aungst is a good clinician but doesn't write very well. cadets are raw though

  • is the beginning of this WD-40? or am i just hearing things?

  • no its show music, but as you know Aungst's writing has no color or musicallity to it at all. I had the same problem thinking it was a triplet roll excercise but then when I saw them bring their sticks down and start dutting then I realized it was show music

  • yea but even though he cant write that great they still play what ever he gives them clean as balls...... am i right?

  • yea totally, but imagine if they had like a Paul Rennick writing for them where the book is extremely musical, they'd be unbeatable

  • this year because of mcnutt they did a lot of roll exersizes straight into book.

  • ^^correct^^

  • LOL did u just say that tom cant write lol... wow. never speak again.

  • The first half is an exercise, the second part after the sticks down is a tag directly from the show. I thought that was obvious. But i guess not.

Tom's writing does fit the horn book very well if you can actually think about it.

  • pretty good

  • that metronome is goin purty fast my school always has songs goin a little bit slower

  • very clean =P

  • nnniiiccceeee

  • some reeeaaaly clean diddles

  • Crispy!

  • Haha. Shirtlessness. They are good..

  • plz put on some shirts...

  • i hope this is a joke...

  • noob. go lean what corps is.

  • noob? good one your pathetic, and learn not "lean" to spell dumbass. and yeah pull some fucking shirts on HA!

  • noob? good one your pathetic, and learn not "lean" to spell dumbass. and yeah pull some fucking shirts on HA!

  • why do the need to put on shirts

  • Hahahaha

    You're joking...right? Please tell me you're joking...

  • dont get pissed now over a joke lmao, maybe u should put a shirt on when u play the drums too, and not stare at yourself in the mirror hahha. wow so many comments over my original one. Great!

  • Chill out, man. I'm not pissed. I just know what it's like to Drum with a Corps in extremely hot weather. I can guarantee you they aren't looking at themSELVES in the mirror nor are they concerned about they're physical appearance as much as they are concerned about playing some sweet beats. I actually thought you were really joking...but I guess not.

  • Im tired of you insolent little children bickering over this meaningless topic. No matter whether you are in the BD drumline or on the Cadets drumline or any other Div. 1 drumline for that matter, you still rehearse your ass off 12+ hours a day for the same goal. Getting that Trophy at the end of the season. Suck it up, go drum, and get over yourselves.

  • easy easy easy....some of us practice 12+ hourse a day, while others get up at noon and still beat us

  • haha, well what I was getting at, is not to be snide at any line for being 'better' or not. Everyone works their asses of, weather its 12+ hours or up at noon.

  • Jesus Christ.

At my school, everyone thinks that the Blue Devils are the best drumline ever and all that crap..

They have no idea what they're talking about.

    The Cadets are amazing.

  • amen dude

  • That's because the Blue Devils are the best drumline and drum corps.

  • Yeah sure, if you like doubles and loud chords. Then yeah. They're great. If you're a musician. They're horrible

  • Thankfully I'll take what expert judges think over some YouTube kids who think the world's most championed drum and bugle corps is "horrible." 07 World Champs! <3 Yeah I think the Cadets are good too but still. And by the way, please don't ever talk down about the music the BD drumline plays, because those guys play some serious notes. If you can't see that, wow.

  • yeah they played an awesome tap roll break, ha

  • An awesome tap roll break that was part of the book that won drums, was cleaner than anything your drumlines will play, and was really musical too.

  • my ass ... ha musical

  • Hmm, let's see, the hornline was playing a lone dissonant chord for like two minutes, and it crescendoed into a cymbal crash and, seamlessly, the drumline started playing the tap rolls as that movement's final statement and as a segue into the brighter tempo of the next section. Sorry they didn't play enough backsticked hybrid rudiments to impress some YouTube kids. At least they impressed who matters, like the on-field judge. Go listen to his comments and cry to him.

  • "Sorry they didn't play enough backsticked hybrid rudiments to impress some YouTube kids." BD has a history of doing that... they also tick double stops and close down plenty of tap rolls.

  • Gheez, what an arrogant ass.

    :}

  • Yeah...one percussion title in eleven years, and an undeserved one at that...grow up...

  • lol "undeserved." i bet you think phantom regiment "deserved" it. you don't know shit, but keep talking it kid.

  • Don't sweat BDizDaBest. Can't make a DCI line so she/he spends the majority of the time rubbing it out to BD videos on here. For him a line that wins percussion one a decade is good enough to be considered "DaBest"

  • Did you see..the drum feature from 2008?

  • Cavaliers own all fools.

  • Mandarins > Phantom Regiment

  • how are they dusty old, and obsolete? I think you're just bitter because their drumline lost them the freaking show...which i reall dont think that BD should have been that close to phantom anyways

  • a simple "i like BD better" would cover it. you don't have to trash talk other corps. that's low.

  • 1st of all....dont assume im some bandwagon fan...i've been a Phantom fan since before they ever won a championship. 2nd...if they had trashed PR in all the standpoints that matter...why did they not win? Why dont you explain to me why their show was so out of the box and creative? Why dont they just be straight up badass like Phantom and not worry about being so freaking "out-of-the-box"?

  • To BDizDABest: PR show was better than Constantly Risking Boring all they did was run around like idiots and try to balance on some painted field lines. At least PR's show told a story (like a show should) unlike BD who just ran around on the field.

  • Are you insinuating that if you don't win, you suck?

  • No, sir, not at all. There are many corps that win titles that they do not deserve. But, that being said, there are many corps that win titles and deserve it. And what is the deal with this comment you made?

    "Mandarins > Phantom Regiment"

  • Well, who says those lines don't deserve it? You, the inexperienced and certainly uneducated drummer (no offense, but unless you're actually a director, we're all kind of ignorant) or the well-experience and extremely educated judge? I would say judging percussion is the most fair. It's black or white, you're either clean or not. The only real subjectivity going in is judging the clarity in terms of the difficulty.

  • I would not say I am completely uneducated or inexperienced. I am marching Scouts this year. And, admit it, man, you KNOW that there are corps that win titles (not just percussion, but brass and guard) and and there were other corps on the field who clearly outperformed them that deserved it. You can not deny it. If you do you just do not realize how biased drum corps is.

  • A joke.

  • I never got into competitive marching band or Drum & Bugle Corp., but this shit always blows my mind. The amount of individual man hours that something like this represents is absolutely mind boggling.

  • id tap dat

  • i was in RCACC= Royal, Canadian, Artillery, Cadet, Core i made silver Gold Star or Seargent and i was top marksman and yeeah i was learning how to play snare but i dropped out

  • BONER DRUMS

  • What an exciting book!111111
