@OneMustyDog death is one of my favourite bands of all time. dude. i'm 23. Progressive metal focuses on weird time signatures and song structures. Alexi and Co. have never really experimented with these at all, and their structures tend to be rather linear (though no less awesome). the lyrics are typical of the melodic death metal genre. synthesizers, more specifically, keyboards, are used in many, many melodic death metal bands, who really are not progressive either, e.g. kalmah, norther.
