Delta force all day. the quiet professionals. they dont prance all over the news after every mission like the seals. these dudes are trained ti be behind enemy lines long term and blend in with the enemy. they train militias and cause chaos within the government. most delta operators can speak numerous languages and holds a masters degree.

The SAS are still the no1 SF unit in the world, they were the first of their kind, everyone based their training from the SAS. There are competitions held for SF units (for those who don't know) to this date 22 Regt British Army have never been beaten. Even people serving in other countries SF Units will agree, if they answer honnestly, anyone if the S**t hit the fan their no1 help of choice would be 22 REGT British Army over anyone else.

@zimmermanzs It's "Delta", it's not an acronym for anything. It's just the NATO phonetic alphabet. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta. The Special Forces Groups have six OD-Alpha (primary operators), OD-Bravo (support, intelligence) and one OD-Charlie (headquarters). Even though 1st SFOD-D/CAG/Army Compartmentalized Element) aren't part of Special Forces, they apparently retain some of the naming conventions.

a better way to compair would be to compair DELTA with SEALs DEVGRU(former team 6) or the SAS... these units are teir one elements and do more of the same types of missions similar to one another, in DELTA and DEVGRU team members are hand picked and then given additional training, in SEALS and SF members are not handpicked as any person with requirnments can opt to try out for the units
@shurtugal156 ROLF, you should know that the navy SEAL training is the toughest in the world. You should be both smart and Physically in top condition to be part of one. Even if you does, there's no assurance that you can pass the training interview. They only choose the best of the best to be part of the team. And if you know, they use real ammunition in their combat training (Land training). Imagine you should pass Sea Air and Land training to be one and should be specialized in bio warfare.

@ASIANBOYZPRODUCTION I would say, SEAL training is relatively the same as other SFs. Perception from the media is that they have the toughest. it is toughest in the 1st week where 60% failure rate. Thereafter, it's not so bad. Hardly anybody fails. In army SF, failure rate is constant, from day1 to day of graduation, a linear graph. I would be interested in North Korean SFs, have largest in world. There SFs are handpicked from teenage yrs and train for decades, secret. Ours only several months
@ tf141ast. there is only 1 Ranger unit (75 Ranger Regiment). The 502 INF Regt. is Air Assault. I was in the 187th INF Regt in 06-09 and while we were very well trained and have an amazing history, we are also NOT Ranger. Those are the facts on that.

Mental toughness can not be tought, no one know why sometimes a 17 year old makes it while a 30 combat veteran in top physical shape is reduced to tears and quits. But how do these guys enter and endure BUDS (Supposedly toughest selection in the world) and still run around with smiles and joke around. The British and Australian selection make sure they don't want purple barnies having a fun work out session.

@conkydong1 No class in high school prepare for that. You will get what you need from the BUD/s training. I don't know much about the Navy. Whatever you do, don't get a G.E.D. That will cause you to have to take a TAPAS and an AIMS test at MEPS. Those tests are retardedly lame and have a high fail rate. So just stay in school, don't get any drug or alcohol charges and do not get into any other sort of trouble. No bad tattoos, no major STDs. Take honors (AP) classes and destroy the ASVAB.
@conkydong1 U need to be fluent in ALL Languages or atleast be fluent in the language where your being deployed. have knowledge a about nuclear technology (in case if a SEALs team finds a stray nuclear weapon that need to be defused ) every shot you make has to be surgical shots. TAKE SWIMMING, TRACK, and Physical fitness. Etc. BTW you have to enlist in the Navy, have combat experiance, age 28 and up, 90% mentally prepared and 10% physical

One thing im certain of is these services require a crazy amount of dedication and commitment. So really make sure the military is for u before u join. If u become a Ranger though its gonna be pretty fucking hard to be killed so i wouldnt worry about that. As for the 1st SFOD, they cant be killed period.

The SAS are still the no1 SF unit in the world, they were the first of their kind, everyone based their training from the SAS. There are competitions held for SF units (for those who don't know) to this date 22 Regt British Army have never been beaten. Even people serving in other countries SF Units will agree, if they answer honnestly, anyone if the S**t hit the fan their no1 help of choice would be 22 REGT British Army over anyone else.

when my father was in teh rangers back in 82 he was asked 2 times to try out for delta but never did just cause he figured hed not make it being that selection is so hard...yeah they are not called delta anymore, that was a phrase by the military used to talk abou tthem back in the 80s the media is really behind the times, seal team 6 was disbanned in 87 as well

when we think best units to we often think military only, which in most cases is what is needed for military missions, but what about CQB, urban fighting, arresting targets, or hostage rescue, the FBI special picked swat team is pretty bad ass too, almost all its members are former DELTA or seals as well, its the FBI HRT team, they train with DELTA and SEAL team six, they even train with marine snipers, they also are the team allowed to be used on US soil or against a usa terrorist citizen

@zimmermanzs It's "Delta", it's not an acronym for anything. It's just the NATO phonetic alphabet. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta. The Special Forces Groups have six OD-Alpha (primary operators), OD-Bravo (support, intelligence) and one OD-Charlie (headquarters). Even though 1st SFOD-D/CAG/Army Compartmentalized Element) aren't part of Special Forces, they apparently retain some of the naming conventions.

a better way to compair would be to compair DELTA with SEALs DEVGRU(former team 6) or the SAS... these units are teir one elements and do more of the same types of missions similar to one another, in DELTA and DEVGRU team members are hand picked and then given additional training, in SEALS and SF members are not handpicked as any person with requirnments can opt to try out for the units

@shurtugal156 ROLF, you should know that the navy SEAL training is the toughest in the world. You should be both smart and Physically in top condition to be part of one. Even if you does, there's no assurance that you can pass the training interview. They only choose the best of the best to be part of the team. And if you know, they use real ammunition in their combat training (Land training). Imagine you should pass Sea Air and Land training to be one and should be specialized in bio warfare.

@ASIANBOYZPRODUCTION I would say, SEAL training is relatively the same as other SFs. Perception from the media is that they have the toughest. it is toughest in the 1st week where 60% failure rate. Thereafter, it's not so bad. Hardly anybody fails. In army SF, failure rate is constant, from day1 to day of graduation, a linear graph. I would be interested in North Korean SFs, have largest in world. There SFs are handpicked from teenage yrs and train for decades, secret. Ours only several months

@ tf141ast. there is only 1 Ranger unit (75 Ranger Regiment). The 502 INF Regt. is Air Assault. I was in the 187th INF Regt in 06-09 and while we were very well trained and have an amazing history, we are also NOT Ranger. Those are the facts on that.

Mental toughness can not be tought, no one know why sometimes a 17 year old makes it while a 30 combat veteran in top physical shape is reduced to tears and quits. They have been studying this issue for year with no solid answer. SAS is not necessarily tougher.

@conkydong1 No class in high school prepare for that. You will get what you need from the BUD/s training. I don't know much about the Navy. Whatever you do, don't get a G.E.D. That will cause you to have to take a TAPAS and an AIMS test at MEPS. Those tests are retardedly lame and have a high fail rate. So just stay in school, don't get any drug or alcohol charges and do not get into any other sort of trouble. No bad tattoos, no major STDs. Take honors (AP) classes and destroy the ASVAB.

@conkydong1 U need to be fluent in ALL Languages or atleast be fluent in the language where your being deployed. have knowledge a about nuclear technology (in case if a SEALs team finds a stray nuclear weapon that need to be defused ) every shot you make has to be surgical shots. TAKE SWIMMING, TRACK, and Physical fitness. Etc. BTW you have to enlist in the Navy, have combat experiance, age 28 and up, 90% mentally prepared and 10% physical

One thing im certain of is these services require a crazy amount of dedication and commitment. So really make sure the military is for u before u join. If u become a Ranger though its gonna be pretty fucking hard to be killed so i wouldnt worry about that. As for the 1st SFOD, they cant be killed period.
