  • this video is hard to watch for blue jays fan..but i had to favorite it, darvish is too sikk lol

  • Comment removed

  • He has that vintage Dave Steib slider. Like it stops and goes in a different direction. He's gonna corkscrew more than one hitter with that thing.

  • guy has such a filthy slider looks almost like a whiffle ball at times, P.S get some infield grass 2:47

  • Comment removed

  • C.J. is nothin compared to Yu

  • this guy is horrible. missed 90% of his locations and had guys on in 90% of the clips. not to mention these hitters are not in the MLB. he's going to get lit up in the bigs. i put him on a 5 era and will be forgotten about a couple months in

  • @calopen And I really, REALLY get the feeling you have NO idea what you are talking about. I am 180% sure that JD and his scouts arent idiotic, ignorant fools such as you.

  • @pmthompson3 no see ur the idiot for thinking this isnt about money/air time.

  • Looking forward to watching this guy. Potentially the best P to come out of Japan. Big, mechanically sound, live FB, sharp and late breaking off speed stuff. His delivery/arm speed is identical on every pitch. MLB is a crap shoot sometimes but he looks promising. WC may be coming out of the west this yr.

  • Man that is a nice out pitch. That tailing slider. It doesn't matter what side of the plate you're on, he throws it the same way.

  • I know we havnt won after going back-to-back but its so nice to cheer for a team all these years and watch them finally go...GO RANGERS

  • To heck with Linsanity. It's yusanity time. Go rangers!!!!

  • 2:50 That was the darkest baseball field and baseball uniform I ever saw.

  • @krnpowr Yeah that was wierd.

  • very good vid one can see his release very well he tends to like the fast and breaker ball, would love to see him against ichiro, pujols, or fielder.

  • Nice vid..

What I love: 94-96 MPH Fastball--hoorah. Strikeout command- got lefties with a massive breaking ball on the inside corner, got a couple righties with a fastball on the inside corner. Can elevate a fastball.

What I hate: the number of times the catcher had to move his glove 6-8 inches to catch the ball. Maybe the pitch was called that way, but that's usually a sign of wildness in a pitcher.

    Overall: Darvish > Matsuzaka.

  • cmon texas with him yall needa win this year got great pitchin and offence

  • Yu "voodoo" Darvish

  • Jai-yoo!

  • Better then c.j

  • So glad that Texas got him <333

  • Kinda funny that the announcers were excited about the velocity of a 152 kph fastball which is only about 94.4 mph. Overrated but still a very good pitcher and his breaking stuff is filthy

  • @invisibleundetected He hit 155 multiple times though, which is what 96MPH? That with his breaking balls is more than good enough to hold its own in the Bigs. Not even a Rangers fan but I'll def try to catch all of Yu's starts this season

  • Que bárbaro !!!!!!!!!!

  • he's good but if you look closely he has problems with location.

  • Darvish is the missing piece in Texas. He's built like a ballplayer should be and he's confident like an ace is. Sure, they may have missed out on Fielder, but look at the Texas lineup. It already had a perfect balance of power and contact hitters. And the Tigers (a team I've grown to respect) needed another infielder, so it worked out fine with the Fielder situation. Now if Hamilton can produce like he did in 2010, and Cruz did in the postseason, then I think they'll be champions this year.

  • @nicolasville96 and you are right about his motion, but his towering height still causes a downward plane on his fastballs

  • @nicolasville96 the balls in japan actually increased in size prior to this season, now the ball sizes In japan are barely larger than the MLBs, its a common misconception that the balls are smaller

  • @Born2rock1956 baseballs are larger in Japan, and his fastballs due to his throwing motion and 6'5 height, he often throws down to the plate, causing more groundballs

  • @Dabestcryevar Ummm...no. Baseballs in Japan are actually slightly smaller, and they have much larger seams. Darvish is going to lose at least some movement in the MLB. And I doubt his groundball rate is caused by his motion, he seems to have a very compact motion.

  • @Born2rock1956 according to.the rangers scout who has been closely scouting all of Darvish's starts the last two years, he throws 5 pitches, including 2 curves, but no changeup

  • Is the baseball smaller or bigger in Japan than the ML baseball?

  • well i can't deny that he's got nasty pitch. well he is way better than matsuzaka i'd say. i mean most of the HL we see, he strikes out within 5pitches.....

  • @xzi86 I think a lot of his fastballs are to flat..not enough movement. MLB hitters will eventually drill him if he doesn't work on it..

  • @Born2rock1956 like i said, 100 million down the drain for the rangers for nothing.

  • real monster.

  • 英語のビデオタイトルにつられて?変な外人が大量にわいてきてるね。

  • @shuthefuckuphaters だが断る

  • I think Yu has some nasty stuff, but some of those high hanging curves he throws, MLB hitters will hit those all the way to Japan. Keep your off speed stuff low in the zone Yu. GO RANGERS!

  • I wonder when these Japanese guys are gonna realize that a leg kick and hopelessly flailing at the ball isn't gonna make them hit.

  • CJ Wilson, for what?

    I prefer Yu Darvish

    kk

  • Rangers.

    World series.

    Third time's the charm.

  • If you have that much movement and can locate your pitches, you don't need to throw fire. 92-94 is plenty. Cliff Lee throws 88-92 and did pretty well for us, right, Ranger fans?

  • Yu da man!

  • @kohei0710

    そうだね、本拠地はhometownじゃなくてhome groundって言うべきか。

  • That stuff is FILTHY!!!

  • problem is his ball is very slow

  • 6 Ks in a row 4:49

  • Wow I have never seen a ball break like that...

  • @hahyunlee

His hometown is Hokkaido, which is the coldest place in Japan.

I think It doesn't matter, though.

  • @fushigidaze no his hometown is Osaka.... He just played in Sapporo, not the hometown...

  • Comment removed

  • yu will do good in texas now prince come to my tigers

  • i swear all japanese hitters hit for contact not power

  • he is the real deal.

  • He makes hitters look like idiots.

  • 17-5 2.91 ERA 199 IP 190 K 54 BB 1.15 WHIP Rookie Of The Year

  • this guy is amazing!

so much movement in those pitches!

  • damn too much movement on such a high speed pitch,,, wow

  • he throws about 94 miles an hr. Plenty of velocity to strike out major league pitchers. Hes a lot like lincecum with some of the best accuracy i ever seen from any pitcher. Think of lincecum with great accuracy with his pitches. he will strike out 10-15 guys on a nightly basis.

  • If the Ranger can sign Prince Fielder to go with the rest of that team they are going to be unstoppable

  • @Born2rock1956 well that's not possible now

  • @Born2rock1956 Detroit already signed him for 8 years.

  • @Born2rock1956 We will show you we dont need Prince

  • @Born2rock1956 HAHA no dice on Prince! ;)

  • Can he speak English?...That would be good for him if he can..It's a big move coming to the USA. from Japan like that...I hope he keeps his mind in the right direction and concentrates on Baseball. He can be one of the greats

  • @Born2rock1956

Yes his father is Iranian and went to high school in the US. His father and mother met in the US. he speaks good english, but may still use a translator in official interviews..

  • @BiggestE22 contract demands a translator. He can understand most English but doesn't really speak it, he will by the end of 2012 though, when he's accepting the AL ROTY award.

  • @Born2rock1956 Not yet, but good thing for Rangers is they have 2 other Japanese pitchers on team, and Colby Lewis and Mike Napoli both played in Japan.

  • @savethedowns I don't believe Napoli has ever played in Japan.

  • @savethedowns So did Yoshinori Tateyama And Koji Uehara, from the Rangers bullpen

  • Yu has a great arm and plenty of promise. his fast ball has velocity but I've seen a lot of them that don't have much movement. MLB hitters will hammer that pitch. He has a good cutter. Might be a good idea to concentrate on making that his out pitch along with his outstanding change up. Welcome to the Texas rangers and to MLB in America, Yu...Good luck

  • @Born2rock1956 He does not even throw a change up dude

  • @Dabestcryevar Ummm I watched him via youtube. I'm pretty sure I seen him throw a changeup

  • Great arm

  • All ours! Nonstop Yu talk on 1310am if Yu live in Dallas area..RockMe!!!

  • Hopefully he can withstand the summer heat...

  • @vlnplyr5 japan is hotter

  • RANGERS!@

We're going to the WS again it looks like!

  • Yu Darvish will be the best player to come out of Japan since Taka Tanaka.

  • @texasrangers2010

    Hahaha Indeed.

  • definitely looks like he has great control

  • sure hope he can avoid the injury bug....hopefully he can help us get over the hump and bring us our 1st WS

  • Fucking Rangers....

  • @Rao665 lol being a Rangers fan I have to ask why you say that?

  • @shadycal27 i see yet several more years of domination if Yu Darvish manages to prove himself and more. ...so fucking Rangers...

  • Yu, Got What I Need!

  • Holy crap that's one Whirling Darvish.

  • RANGERS!!!!

  • So glad the Rangers got this guy.

  • He ain't got shit on Mat Moore...GO RAYS!!!

  • Mixed feelings excited to see what he brings, definitley and expensive gamble.

  • This guy is sick! Why couldn't my shitty Mariners pick him up?

  • Rangers soo have at least 3 World Series under their belts with this guy:D

Great day to be Rangers Fan:D

  • THIS IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!!!

  • He wont be able to handle the big leagues... Im a redsox fan ask me about Dice K!!!! Two letters for ya.....DL!!!!!

  • Welcome to the Rangers Yu!

  • got'em

  • Is this guy throwing a junkball or blitzball? His movement is incredible.

  • 155 kmph = 96.3125348 mph

  • Welcome to Texas.

  • Super Karate Monkey Death Car

  • He's gonna eat sushi, pray to allah, and grab a cheesburger all on the same day.

  • @TheMetalinfluence nothing wrong with what Awesome to the core said.

  • Yu Darvish isn't going to the Rangers. He's too hot. The deal is going to fall flat. Kind of like Brazil's Neymar going to Europe.

  • @Rao665 sir ur wrong now whether he will have in impact on the game thats up in the air

  • @Rao665 You sure about that? It sort of happened...

  • @Rao665 well its official now!:D

  • Hes stuff is Nasty! Makes batters look foolish!

  • 名実ともに世界一の投手になってほしい!

  • wow they all swing like ichiro

  • Im from Texas and im a die hard Rangers fan. But my favorite player WAS C.J Wilson. Pfft, TRADER. Annnyyywaaays Hopefully Darvish will replace him. Cuuzz I love Japs, and Darivish is FINEEE.

  • @AwesomeToTheCore don't listen to Metalinfluence...all sport fans are stupid to the core. not just women. What is the point in rooting for a so called "hometown" team anyways? It's all relative and fake. But I still like it. The first thing is to admit to that stupidity. It's just as stupid to root for a player because he plays for your "hometown team" or because he looks FINEEE.

  • if we go to war with Iran, will we have to detain him.

  • Comment removed

  • Hes 6'6 225, 25, and has incredible stuff. RANGERS WILL SIGN HIM!

  • @ilovlegos both wrong, he's 25.

  • @thekingcmk dude Wilson was mentally weak and had like two good pitches. I'm glad we didn't resign him. this guy looks stout. his mechanics do need some work but the kids only 21!! GO RANGERS!!!!!!

  • @mEds312 darvish is 27 or 28 now

  • Hope he won't be another Matsuzaka.....having all kinds of drama with the Red Sox and now injured...

  • I don't think Texas will sign him :(

  • 1:01 theres 7 elevens in japan!?

  • @cradeable It originates in Japan.

  • Darvish will win 18 times.

  • Good riddance CJ Wilson.

  • Wow...impressive

  • LETS GO RANGERS!!!

  • he is 6 foot 5 inches, he is gonna wreck on everybody

  • He is Messi in the baseball world.

  • ranger going to ws again for 3straight yr,yayyyyyy

  • @mrdummy27 ...and lose!

  • He will be good, the MLB has the best trainers and coaches, his delivery will clear up. Plus part of the problem was not taking chances and spending money. Gotta pay good to be good.

  • One problem is not having emitted a word, either when he himself wants to go major.

  • His pitches are nastier than a Saigon whore's wart infested twat. Sick stuff.

  • @HeavyMetalNoize I think you are missing the point. I am saying that his mechanics are much more similar to pitchers who have had injury problems than they are to injury free pitchers (Maddux and Ryan).

  • @tjc2012 What experts? They are clearly horrible mechanics. Compare them to pitchers like Nolan Ryan and Greg Maddux who never had TJ and their elbows are always below their shoulder whereas pitchers like Adam Wainwright and Tommy Hanson pull their elbow above the shoulder at the load stage, like Darvish. Show me an example proving this wrong and I will be glad to take back everything I said.

  • @linkinlog21

Nolan Ryan owns the Rangers and has seen Darvish multiple times. Greg Maddux is also a coach on the Rangers team and has seen him before.

  • The Big Yunit!! Lol

  • whats sup with these huge leg kicks that these hitter have

  • i cant wait till he comes to the u.s. i would love to have is signature!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • 2:08 was at least 6" outside

  • I'v never seen a ball break like that in my life.

  • @MrFoodforthought92 breaking ball hitters are going to crush that once they figure it out

  • thank god the rangersdidnt have this guy last year when my cardinals beat them

  • Yu Darvish's stats for 2011...

    W/L: 18/6 Innings: 232 Ks:276 ERA:1.44

  • This guy has some great stuff but some of these batters are dumb asses. Some of these pitches aren't even close to the strike zone and yet they still swing for them and misses them.

  • @jeffkiller47 Japanese strike zone is a bit larger in height.

  • @jeffkiller47 fwiw, the npb/japanese strikezone is larger than the american baseball strikezone.

  • Toronto is cheap...some your fans some love and sign someone big....

  • Just looking at his breaking balls alone, its clear that Texas made the right move. There's no doubt he has ace stuff, the question is whether or not he can make the transition and deal with the increased workload and maintain his health. Personally I wish Toronto actually dumped more money, but I look forward to cheering for Texas and Darvish in the playoffs while the Jays remain out of the loop.

  • メジャーでは派手なガッツポーズは控えたほうがいいかもね。

  • Better than all MLB pitcher
