  • Great song - superior CD, awesome Vid! Thanks for the upload!

  • topshelf 80's yuppie trash. love it.

  • Absolutely! I always loved the Blue Eyed Soul/Jazz/Pop that came out of the UK during the 80s -- i.e. Yuppie Pop! Love & Money will always be a fav, along with Curiosity Killed The Cat, Go West, Living In A Box, Waterfront, Pride + Politix, Millions Like Us, Level 42, etc., etc. . . .

  • Anybody got Love on Board by Friends Again. would love to hear it again

  • 7 Digital have the album in 320k MP3 quality for £7.99 for anyone interested.

  • would love to find jocelyn square by this band!

    Your Beautiful.

  • rapid,murder,savage,..means great.tanx for postin

  • I saw this band in the eighties but for the life of me i cant remember who they were supporting? Must have been around 87

  • I saw them around the same time (87) in The Barras in Glasgow, and they were supporting Lloyd Cole & the commotions

  • Ah, thanks for he reply, i saw Loyd Cole And The Commotions around that time so thanks for answering that one!

  • Brilliant - still sounds great after all these years.

  • To whoever posted this-THANK YOU! I saw this video approximately twice back when it was first, and I've spent the last 20+ years trying to find it again (turns out I had the name of the band slightly wrong).

In any event, just as great as I remember it being. Nice to know I didn't hallucinate it's existence. And now I can watch it as often as I want!

  • An excellent album.

  • Io ho ancora l'ellepi in vinile. L'ho usurato!

Non sapete che capolavori ci sono dentro.

  • never heard it until now, catch little song... hardly made a dent in the pop charts here n the US only making #75 in March 1989

  • Brilliant band and James Grant's a brilliant songwriter and guitarist. I've got all their stuff including the 12 inch and CD singles with extended mixes and non-album tracks plus a couple of acetates including I think an unreleased mix of "Candybar Express". Saw them at Newcastle Upon Tyne Polytechnic in the 80s and have some nice colour slides of Grant from just in front of the stage at the gig, though it was hard to get there to take em.

  • A totally perfect pop song ... awesome!

  • Love this band.

I will upload all the albums I have. I also have a couple maxis on vinyl that I will try to convert to mp3. Too bad their gone.

  • circa 1988 love and money , the bible and it bites were the most gifted bands in the uk...........this tune is class!!!

  • TubeComments.(INFO) post 1000's of comments a day Totally RAD -

  • Very tasteful guitar solo.....very classy

  • Wow I had no idea? I never knew that Bobby Paterson had past away, I met him at a Boston night club after the show, what a nice guy we must have talked for a good 20 mins, I'm Glasgow born living in Boston so i was excited to talk to a home slice! So sorry to hear of his death. does anyone know ho he died?

  • I can still recognized that song, though I was only 7 in 1988.

    Underrated, surely!

I just checked: you can download the whole album on iTunes!!!

  • I don't think that James Grant, good though his solo material is, ever bettered his best Love & Money material, such as this, "River of People", Jocelyn Square", Love & Money" etc. Saw them live at Newcastle Upon Tyne Polytechnic 1977/78 where they were truly awesome. I have a few nice colour slides and photographs from that night - I was so keen I took two cameras. I wish I've taken a tape recorder as well like I did for Jonatahn Kelly in 1975.

  • Please if you like this - listen to James Grant's solo stuff - he got better - and honestly my name isn't James Grant

  • This is the chill out of the late 80's. GREAT SONG

  • i was born in 1971..ths gays for me are essence of 80's...james grant...great voice...james where are you now? your voice is fun ..fun..fantastick

    pl

  • Just the best. Have the cd's which are at the end of life. Lovely to see a top band . Tks

  • That is great music, combined with Candybar Express. You don't get stuff like that these days. Too bad they are gone

  • I will be uploading the song 'Strange Kind Of Love' next week once I've got it transferred from my vinyl copy

  • Love these guys - love this song; one of the best from the late 80's!!

  • How`s possible to loose the track? Intemporal, Pop bom. It is almost a private treasure.

  • great song.... imlovenit

  • What a fucken song!

  • Absolutely TIMELESS! POP PERFECTION with loads of chops and soul! I have this CD from way back when. I need to wipe off the cobwebs and give it a spin again. I LOVED this band then, and I still love them now!

  • Sophiegromit you are my kinda woman! I ditto the last sentence! This album just does it all, great songs, amazin playing just a great vibe!

  • Well, it would indeed be flattering to be 'your kinda woman', BUT frankly, i'm a male! LOL! Thank you anyway, and you have great taste!

  • Saw them In Boston in the very early 90's Hung out with the band after the show upstairs at what was the Avalon

  • your either glasgow or boston which is it eh?

  • This band has two deads: Jeff Porcaro (drums) and Bobby Paterson (bass)...Sad. A very goo band.

  • Saw this band live when they were supporting a UK BB King Tour in 1986. Forgotten how good they were.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Oh. My. God. I worked in a record store in the 80s and loved this record. Saw them lve in a small club and they sounded fantastic. It had been years and years...you don't suppose YouTube would have it? Nah. Wow.

  • not heard this track for over 10 years. great band, proper music, proper talent . many thanks for posting..top stuff!!

  • Well, smack my ass and call me Judy!!! Another reminder of how current pop music sucks... bass line, drums, guitars, singing, everything works and creates that special feeling of 80s. 20 years old song and all I cany say is pure quality.

  • i couldnt agree more!80's music rules!great song!

  • well said i totally agree today s music is total shite not a decent song out there

  • These guys were so talented. Jocelyn square was gorgeous.

  • mmm italian channel XD bellissima questa canzone dei love e money

  • Does any one know where I can buy a copy of this song? I have searched all over for a download of Halleluiah Man. Any help would be greatly thankful for.

  • The song and the album "Strange Kind of Love" are available on iTunes. Great album too.

  • Many thanks for uploading this vid. Great track and some fantastic memories.

  • I worked in a shop in Cockburn Street Edinburgh selling jeans when someone from the record company or associated walked in. They wanted the shop to play the next album from a band called ...Love and Money, being a fan of the Candybar Express and their 1st album I agreed but it would cost a tape for each of the staff which was duly agreed, a week later he returned and asked for my thoughts and with passes for the gig in Edinburgh that night.

  • I love this song! Haven't heard it in at least 15 years. Thanks much for posting.

  • without doubt,the best song from 89!

  • I well remember that there were min five vids on heavy rotation on sky channel in 1989. Pls post one of those beside halleluiah man, jocelyn square, cos strange kind of love is really one of my fav recored ever. Tkx for posting.

  • My strange kind of love cassette snapped in the early 90s,and I would give up fags for a day just to hear avalanche one more time.

  • james tours regularly he will even come to your house!!!! His solo albums are superb

  • if you want my copy of the cd its yours i bought it twice

  • I too had the Album "Strange Kind of Love" Every song a Gem!Hadn't a favourite cos I loved them All!!!Oh, the Eighties were so brilliant Music wise, anyway!!!

  • After so many years they are still one of my absolute favourite Band! I'm listening to the albums "strange kind of love" and "dogs in the traffic" almost every 2 weeks!

    Brilliant!!

  • Great song, but the best is "She Carved Her Name" (not available on Strange Kind of Love)

    Greetings from Peru.

  • Didn't know this was a single - easily the best off the album along with Jocelyn and Scapegoat IMO.

  • There was no video to Avalanche as it was never a single. Great song though.

  • Does anybody have the video of the song Avalanche by love and money that's a good song too

  • Guau! great, enormous, best, amazing, mesmering song! one of the best bands ever. It was 1989 when i went to Europe, in Madrid i bought this beautyful record. Since then im a big fan of L&M

    Thaks for posting it!

    from México capital, congratulations

  • Great song, takes me back a few years! I too would love to see the Strange Kind of Love video, one of my favourite songs ever. I used to have the Strange Kind of Love album on cassette (that's showing my age) but never got round to getting it on CD. Managed to find a compilation album, Cheap Pearls and Whisky Dreams, that's got most of their good stuff on it. Good luck on finding it though, just seen a copy on Amazon going for £60!!!

  • i am desperatly seeking the strange kind of love single...could anyone post here the video? thanks a lot

  • Do yourself a favor and track down a copy of this entire album. Features Jeff Porcaro on drums, and I believe it was produced by Gary Katz of Steely Dan fame.

  • I had this album cant find it anywhere

  • I still have this album and it's as good as it ever was....infact I'm gonna dig it out right now and give it an airing.

  • Fantastic tune. Got to agree, strange kind of love one of my all time favourite albums. Check out 'walk the last mile' on the album. An amazing song.

  • Fantastic tune. Got to agree, strange kind of love one of my all time favourite albums. Check out 'walk the last mile' on the album. An amazing song.

  • esiste un video anche per "STRANGE KIND OF LOVE"? Adoro quella canzone.

    Ciao da Barcellona!

  • Fantastic!! Ciao da Roma (Italy) I'am a dj. shhhh...!

    Good!

  • Great video and song. First saw the video in the late 80's on VH1 and I was hooked. Great CD, and my question is the same as the last post - Where's a video of "Strange Kind of Love?"

  • Awesome band with an awesome song. Has anyone got 'Strange Kind of Love' the single to post on here, or is that wishful thinking? ;-)

  • like everyone else says, SKoL a sublime album. Listen to once, never forgotton...

  • THE BEST SONG OF 1988

  • Top band that i would have loved to get big. Loved a song called Winter they did amazing track.

  • even though im a heavy rock fan strange kind of love was the only tape i played in my car between 1988 and 1990.

  • Thanks so much for posting this, been a fan since their first relase and Nick Taylor of Duran Duran signing them.

This has to be the finest British band never to get the recognition they so rightly deserve. Please, anyone, post any more tracks by these guys! Their album 'Strange Kind Of Love' is an essential part of anyone's collection!

  • Great song. I love it. I've been lookin' for this record for 15 years. I didn't know which band sang it.Thanks for posting it.

  • ¡Qué recuerdos! Finales de los 80´s. Para tí Pedro que en paz descanses. Cuánto nos gustaba este grupo raro o poco conocido

  • Quality music for sure. Still one of my favourite CDs after all these years.

  • strange kind of love was a superb album, especially the track the shape of things to come. their debut was good too, but was let down by some pretty tinny production. Same as War by U2...great album, crap production

  • One of the best saw them years ago with Hipsway, Strangers and Brothers and latterly with 1/2 of Hipsway who called themselves Witness .Another top band.

agree with gillianseed wholeheartedly. J G is brill guitarist and lyricist

  • one of the best album ever! believe me ;)

  • This would be my desert island disc. always playing it

    near 20 yrs on. 20 yrs !

  • Daymn! I thought this song was LOST. I clearly definitely remember the chorus and the video in Japan. I forgot about the band. 19 years later it's found WOOHOO!!! So freakin' cool!!! I was wondering where the hell this song was all these years. Thank you fery1 !!!

  • OMG I haven't heard this song in a while I love their style :0)

  • This BAND GOT FUCKED!!! -They deserved a whole lot more attention than they recieved.

  • And you should read who appears on their album, Strange Kind of Love. You would be very surprised.

"The 1988 follow-up album Strange Kind of Love (which featured Toto's Jeff Porcaro on drums following the departure of Kerr) was overseen by Steely Dan producer Gary Katz." I read an interview that states that Donald Fagen plays a small role in the album as well.

  • So True, gillianseed. So True. This tune among most of their others, is a frk'n rhythmic orgasm.

  • I remember this song and still have the CD, but had never seen the video until just now. Thank you for posting it.

  • thank you who ever posted this brilliant song in. the frist time i seen them it was in the glasgow school of art. i fainted for the first time in my life and it was jim that brought me round i can not beleive i am listening to this thank you very very much.xx

  • One of the most underrated bands/albums of the late 80's. Even though the 2nd Summer of Love/Madchester kicked off the year this came out,it was still essential listening for me. Follow up "Dogs in the Traffic" also brilliant. RIP Bobby Paterson.....

  • Bless you.

  • Elegand production by Gary Katz(classy Steely Dan!)on drums exact Jeff Porcaro from Toto and patron of band Andy Taylor(once again ex-Duran Duran?).Title singel was Nr.45 UK Chart before 18 years-unbelievably..

  • This band were just way ahead of their time!Proper songs, proper pop music!!!!!!!

  • The CD "Strange Kind of Love" is a must have for any record collection!!! I wish they had made more CDs. James Grants solo stuff is great.

  • It's so good to see that there are still people who appreciate the talent of this band.Holygasoline is perhaps right about the best music being for the minority to enjoy. My first dance on my wedding day with my beautiful wife was walk the last mile. it's certainly more original that Whitney Huston.......

  • I love that old revisited "Steely Dan" sound that

artists like China Crisis and this with that

    Walter Brecker/Gary Katz production value.

  • The B side of this was a song called Wanderlust II problably the most under rated recording in the history of popular music. Its on their greatest hits album "cheap pearls and whisky dreams" awesome!

  • any other videos? this song brings back good memories. Thanks for posting

  • I adore everything Love and Money ever recorded. Does anyone have 'Sometimes I Wanna Give Up?' If so PLEASE post it up. Cheers.

  • Great music...intelligent...sadly lacking these days.

  • Fantastic band. Seen then live at glasgow barrowlands and school of art.

  • I love this band! The song "Strange kind of love" is THE MOST PLAYED song on my iTunes out of the 1000's of songs I have!

  • Love the video and the song, thanks for posting.

  • One of the most under-rated bands EVER - if you like this, then check out the albums.

  • totally agree, saw them at newcastle poly in '86 they were superb, i got record signed, band really nice, james grant true gent but the bass player would not give time of day to me and was up his own rectum, very unpleasant and he made loads of screw ups and was worste player in band. Andy pawlak supported them, alas another talent that fame eluded... They appeared on a great show called melt down, be great if anyone has that to upload

  • The bass player is on of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. His name is Bobby Patterson. Maybe it was someone else on bass that night.

  • Hi Derek in responce to your comment reply to my ranting re Bass player Bobby Paterson.Maybe he was having an off night(we all have them ),just at the time they were my idols and i felt deflated i guess.. Sadly in researching the guy dicovered he died last year after a short illness aged 49.Apologies if my comments offended anyone im sure he will be sadly missed by close friends and family. His playing was cracking on Strange kind of Love with drummer Jeff Porcaro sadly too, no longer with us.

  • I saw Love and Money a few times and I used to own a few of their records, thought they were the best, couldn't understand why they didn't make it big time. I new Bobby, we played golf at the same club in Glasgow. I used to see him a Lloyd Cole on the golf course many times. I left for the states in 92' couldn't believe it when he died. Very sad.

  • Yes its sad when people pass on, especially so young.

Love and Money were such a great band, I still play Strange Kind of Love in the car and 19 years on it still sounds as fresh as ever, i cant understand why they didnt make it big either, but sometimes it leaves the best music for the minority to enjoy and the not so good for everyone else...

  • very sadly he died in July, 2006.

  • excelente tema de los 80's, buen recuerdo

  • Ages since I heard this. Great band, thanks for posting.

  • The Best Voice I've Ever Heard And Probably One Of The Best Scottish Bands Ever - Why Were They Not Massive???? Beats The Hell Out Of Me!!

    Big Thx !!!

  • love this song, cant believe i've found it,cheers for the posting

  • thanks thats taken me back a bit great vid thanks agaain...............

  • Brlliant! Now,does anyone have Jocelyne Square?

  • Thank you for adding these. I saw Love and Money perform live at ULU in London in 1990. Top nite!!!!!
